Do any of you have Twitter?? Believe it or not, yes. Me neither, now that the Apollo 11 mission is run. I might as well see what us I can get from it.

I pretty much just use Twitter to follow other people. I rarely post updates to my own page.

I feel like an old foggey for saying this, but I actually don't get twitter at all. I get the other social networking sites, and despite being dragged kicking and screaming onto FB I was actually an early adopter of many of them. I have had Friendster, LiveJournal, and Myspace accounts and they all sort of make sense even if I ultimatly decided that they weren't for me.
Twitter doesn't make sense to me.

NAF, I felt the same as you did at first. Then I realized the real value of twitter is for bloggers, news organizations, etc. For example, I follow my favorite bloggers, some news anchors, Weird Al, etc. Then, I get an aggregated page of all of their updates that I can read through for little tidbits that might not get posted to blogs, etc.
And Weird Al likes to post funny pictures, like him at the dentist.

Interesting. I hadn't thought of it from that perspective. Maybe I will need to look into twitter some more.

Watching the whole Iran protests through the lens of Twitter was quite interesting as well. Mixed in with all of the tips for turning cell phones off between calls, and the when's/where's for protests and events there were things like instructions for folks in the states and elsewhere for installing linux and TOR on networked xboxes and ps3s so that they could function as anonymous proxies through which the tips and logistics could be sent out.
It was also where I received most of my information on the whole Rainbow Lounge fiasco in Fort Worth Texas on the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, long prior to mainstream media picking up the story.

Cool, I will go track you down Cookies.
I seem to be in stage 2 of the list that Hoopy posted, but Twitter isn't blocked at work, so I might use it more than FB. Plus if there are cool things to follow I might stick around more. Anyone have suggestions for cool people/things to follow?

I'm rather fond of "CredoMobile", though I can't switch to them as my carrier at the moment. They are refreshing and unapologetic in their progressive social activism for a cell phone provider, posting all sorts of interesting stuff.
"CourageCampaign" for Californian social justice. "Packet_storm" for (lots) of security "full disclosure" items. That pretty much covers mine. I haven't gone prowling for new things to follow for awhile.
(Edited for correct packet storm id)

Most of the people I follow are conservative bloggers/pundits and I'm guessing most of you aren't interested If you are, I'm The Real FCOD and you can see everyone I follow by going to my profile. Aside from the right wing nut jobs, @rainnwilson, @nathanfillion, @alyankovic, and @pennjillette are all interesting. --FCOD

That's ok, I still love you, Chris. LOL, thanks. I actually do appreciate it. I hope I haven't said anything here or on FB that offended you. Although I post a lot of right wing propaganda on Facebook I'm a very tolerant guy in person and don't judge people based on race, creed, or orientation. However, I will mock stupidity --FCOD

I don't hold it against you, I just won't follow the same nutjobs you do. (Really I probably won't follow much politics, pundits of all leanings tend to drive me a bit batshit.)

Fair warning, NAF, I am going to point and laugh if you somehow morph into one of those Twitterheads who tweets from the delivery room.
"I'm so thrilled to be sharing this moment with you!"
"That's a big needle..."
"ZOMG!!!!!!"

However, I will mock stupidity --FCOD It's a good thing you live in Jersey, then. Plenty of stupidity to mock. (And thanks to your state for taking all the heat off of Chicago/Illinois. Well, actually, I don't really care. Illinois deserves all the negative press it has gotten.)

It's a good thing you live in Jersey, then. Plenty of stupidity to mock. You have no idea. Stupid crap goes down in this state all the time that doesn't reach the national media. And no, of course I don't mind. As far as I'm concerned, stupid should hurt. Mocking it is the next best thing. --FCOD

Never could get into twitter myself...I find is it not just like a differant version of FB? Though the buzz in business news a week ago or so, is the owners of tiwtter do not like only making a billion in advertising revenue, so they are tabling an idea to make you pay to join it, such as classmates.com. So who knows in the next year or so, you mayfind in order to acess your accounts, pull out the visa card. But then as I said this is just an idea they are considering.
