Judging from what we all have now installed on these boards (see the Hack topic), I'd say these boards were HUGELY superior to the SDMB for playing these games or just relaxed posting about any ol' thing.
Don't get me wrong, I love the SDMB. It's unmatched against any online message board when it comes to member size and intelligence and diversity.
But when we're playing Mafia or just hanging out and posting in the various topics we have going at any given time, I really prefer these boards. It's more relaxed, it seems.
I'm thinking not this game but the next (storytellers) I might add a forum to the bottom of all of these (under Past Games) and have that be a general general forum. As in a "Post anything you want, doesn't have to be about the game" forum. Like a "I'm sick" or "I have a new cat" or "What's your favorite kind of car?" or "What's for dinner?" topic forum. And then have that be a mainstay one (like the Past Game forums are) but have all the categories and boards ABOVE those (these ones) always changing to suit the current game mod(s) wants and likes.
Anyway, what say you guys? Obviously we all love the SDMB, but in regards to what we do here, what do you think? Still prefer playing games and mafia on there? No doubt there's more of a fanbase and people watching over there, so that's one plus. But what is your full opinion on playing mafia here vs there?

:cough: I'm for it. After all, this is the only place for you to get your hourly dose of Roosh. And the only way I can get to interact with my beloved Dopers....

This board is definitely superior to the SDMB for playing Mafia. The ability to have multiple threads for each Day and Night alone clinches it for me. Other bonuses I like are the avatars, post-count rankings, and now especially the day end countdown sigs. The only problems I had with this board were the reverse-preview order (now fixed, thanks!) and the e-mail notifications (which I figured out a few weeks ago).
So yeah, this is much better.

This is a great place to play and chat. My only worry would be whatever capacity/bug issue we ran into on Day 1.

One of the hacks Idle installed automatically stops posting to a thread when it reaches 1,000 posts.
I think this will be well short of the critical size that triggered the collapse, and we should be fairly safe from it. I'd suggest that people could save the thread offboard if they're worried (although iirc you have to do that one page at a time).

I definitely prefer the expanded space on these boards to the SDMB (I actually haven't played in one of the Mafia games there, just followed along). It's much nicer to be able to follow exactly
The searches here don't always work great for me, but on the other hand searching 'in context' (i.e. opening pages and looking around) is far easier here since you can usually get close by browsing, plus you can see what responses were given to people.
