NAF and Kat had one in their sigs to signify (hahaha, get it? Sig-nify? Okay, no more lame puns) when Day ended. But a few started saying it was reading different times for them. No idea what was going on there, it seemed to work fine for me. Both of them showed the right times for me, but then again, I also live in the PST time zone.
So, I have set the countdown in my sig for about 24 hours away (athough by niw it should read 23 hours and a lot of minutes).
Regardless, though, of what it should say or not say when you look at it, what does everyone see the countdown say?

It reads right for me. But we are in the same time zone.

Idle Thoughts,
I think it is counting down the time to the local variant of whatever the countdown is set to.
ie. If the countdown is set to to 12:00 midday. It will count down to 12:00 midday in the region the person is set to.
It needs to be set to countdown to a specific time in a specific locale.

If it's off for some people, I imagine it probably just compares the time to the system clock without any sort of conversion for timezone. ...but I'd have to look at the code to be sure.

It is getting the date time from the local PC clock and then doing a subtraction in the code to get the countdown time.
You can prove this by changing the Time Zone on your PC to change the countdown.

Wait...I'm confused.
The time in my sig is counting down to this time Oct 2nd (er, rather, 11:45AM Oct 2nd)
For me, that's 23 hours (and 31 minutes) away. For Cat and Roosh that is 15 and 20 hours away, respectively.
So......am I missing something? How doesn't it work? We're in different timezones so OF COURSE we'd see the time countdown reading different things.

Idle Thoughts, the countdown works fine as expected.
It will tell me when 11:45AM Oct 2nd GMT is. Unfortunately, this is little to no use when I want to know when the end of the game is, which is 11:45AM Oct 2nd PST instead.
Can you pass both the end date and the current server date into the javascript to generate the countdown time instead so that we all get the time remaining in the countdown.

It was telling everyone that the game was ending at 3:30 whatever their local time was rather then 3:30 my time. So CAIS who is 8 hours ahead of me, had the clock say that the Day ended 8 hours early. ETA: on review what CAIS said

For those wondering and trying to plan out their live, I put a count down to The End in my sig. Please enjoy the rest of your lives.

You put a song in your profile yet, Blam? I have to decide on an appropriate one first, and then upload it... Do I put in some crazy death metal? Or how about some epic power metal? Or some avante-garde black metal? Or some experimental prog-rock? Or some bizarre ambient?

Well tell me first, because the song is dependant on the length of your sig, so I'll have to censor some words so they show UP as your current sig Like #blamline1 for "Storyteller is scum. So is Hockey Monkey. I bet CatInASuit and/or atarus probably is." etc. This is a loophole so people can make their sigs longer.

I like getting to toy aroudn with all these toys. Because, as you know, Batman ain't nothin' without his Battoys.

Okay, well. I've done all I could. There doesn't seem to be a way to change it to suit each time zone and it doesn't allow you to have more than one in your sig either. My suggestion is this: That we have five or so players (one for each different timezone that we have players IN) all volunteer to carry one countdown in their signature. Like NAF for PST, Kat for CST, me for MST (even though I'm on PST. ), someone for EST and then someone for GMT. And then just to post periodically in the game topic? That would work best, I think, if people still wanted to use the countdown (and me, I think they're pretty useful). But if you'd all just like to use the standard: "It ends at this time and that's this, this, this, this, and this these times" and just keep reminding people when it's coming up, that's fine too.

Um, I don't know if you people were doing this or not, but did you include the time zone in the actual countdown code? Like, did you put 3:30 PST/EST/GMT/whatever in the actual code, not just the time? I didn't see it suggested so I figured I'd ask.
*tries to be helpful?*

No, but the original code didn't show a place for that. I guess I could try it though. Thanks.

How's the sig look? Everything right and correct in the countdown? That's a good thing the mods could use if they wanted.

I give up. I thought it would work but it wouldn't unless it was being directed from the GMT timezone. There just isn't any work around for it. The only way it works is if each person puts in their sig the countdown to THEIR Day End. If they want to, great. If not, that's fine.
Me, I like having the countdown there. Others, if you want to use it just set it yourself in your OWN sig.
If you live in PST, set it for our time: [ countdown=Oct 11 2007 15:30:00]Day ends[/ countdown ] MST: [ countdown=Oct 11 2007 16:30:00]Day ends[/ countdown ] CST: [ countdown=Oct 11 2007 17:30:00]Day ends[/ countdown ] EST: [ countdown=Oct 11 2007 18:30:00]Day ends[/ countdown ] GMT: [ countdown=Oct 11 2007 23:30:00]Day ends[/ countdown ]
Put that in your sig and you'll always have a RIGHT countdown for your time zone. Great? Great.
