Since we've heard NAF's reasoning. And he asked about favorite presidents. @ed, @total: Why did you pick your respective answers? While we were waiting for Total, I was trying to think of a not-too reknowned president. I had intended to go with Ford, because he's somewhat recent, but really not what leaps to mind when we think of presidents. I didn't want someone too famous, but I was also afraid of someone too obscure. Thinking about Ford brought to mind Nixon, who, of course is well known and not very well respected. So, I thought you'd probably have the most infamous president somewhere on the list.

The first time I was consciously aware of hearing the speech was during an NPR broadcast about Why We Fight which I watched as soon as it hit video.

I really don't know that many presidents from the US - unless they had an impact on the hisoty of Europe. So I thought of Truman, FDR, Kennedy and Clinton - not that I don't know others but those are the "big" ones in my mind and went for FDR. Mostly because (as far as I know) he's still portrayed as somewhat of a "good" guy I like MEN like Kennedy and Clinton - but not sure if I like them as presidents... if you know what I mean *lol*

I don't even know what the governmental entities are called in Denmark. *lol* that's okay - we didn't (sort of) win World War II... so that'll make us even ;D I'll be leaving for Paris tomorrow and will try to check in using the phone until sunday (when I return to home and LOTS of dirty laundry!). Hope that'll be alright... if not I'll drink to you all while looking at the Eiffel tower

so, we can talk about who we are voting for and why in here?
but we PM our actual vote.
and we can't change our mind once we send the PM. So posting here would only be to try to convince those who haven't voted yet.

I adore Millard Fillmore for absolutely no particularly good reason.
I almost went with James Polk, because when listing the presidents it's "Tyler Polk (Poke) Taylor Fillmore Pierce Buchanan" and that just amuses the heck out of me.

So posting here would only be to try to convince those who haven't voted yet. Exactly. If I can be frank, I wanted just the votes in PM, a lot of people also gave explanation and theories. Those are the things you guys can talk about in here. But then again, all votes are in.

Ok. do you guys want me to end the voting or do you guys want to talk about it some more?
Do we need to go around and each one state who they votes for, or do you want me to just report final results?

Since all the votes are in, they can't be changed.
You might as well reveal them.

Agreed on revealing now. We can kick ourselves for missed opportunities later.
I'll fess to having voted for NAF for no other reason except that an 800 point answer could be seen as conveniently-high-but-not-too-high score for what I consider to be quite an arbitrary list of answers. It has nothing at all to do with the tongue-in-cheek comments made about his use of the word "good" or the smell of his feet.

We have a tie. To break the tie, I am waiting for NAF [Highest point winner this round] to place a vote among the players that are tied.
Once I have that vote in, I will report the votes and end the voting round.

So only the tie-breaker gets to know who they are choosing between?

Will the tied parties be provided as a mod-confirmed data point after-the-fact then? The Cheater being able to deflect a tie away from him/herself and then lie about it seems unbalanced at first blush, though I am not a game balance geek.

I am not totally against this mechanism, but I am not sure that it's being implemented in the best possible way. But that's what these trial run games are for, to find out where the kinks are. So far I think this game shows great potential, but I am not sure it is making the most of it. I'm looking forward to the discussion after we see how everything plays out.

Can players vote for themselves? [/color]
It seems at least possible that during the voting debates, it may prove useful to be the point winner and force a tie between themselves and another player, and then break the tie in their own favor, which the rest of the game would not have visibility into until the tie-breaker had already been determined. Especially potentially useful in the Cheater's case.

Ok, now that the first round is over the real game can begin.
Sorry for voting for Ed twice, but it really was him or me, and I am not the cheater. Which makes me wonder. Who is?
Would the cheater intentionally go for no points in the first round? That's a question isn't it?
The next round will be interesting.

Oh and, now is probably the time to defend your vote.
I voted for Ed (twice) because I didn't think that the cheater would intentionally go for 0 points in round 1 and that left the choice between TL and Ed. It was essentially a coin flip between the two of them.

The answers and their point values did not change.

Players may vote for themselves. I will only confirm the person who is lynched. In that case, I think we should, if possible, do what we can to avoid a similar situation as last Night, with the point-leader-tie-breaker implicated in the tie that he/she is breaking. Which means some actual public discussion of what is in our vote PMs, and I hope that only the Cheater would potentially be lying about such things. As long as that is the case, we may be able to avoid undesirable ties by trying to ensure that there are at least two votes between the vote leader and the runner up. Though with a game this small that is going to be tough.
