Unvote Dr. Strangelove
Ok, next!
Anyone else has a comment about Batman super investigation power? I don't remember have in a game with a role (I asked about name or power but we already know names so Batman could only have meant power) plus alignment investigation.
Still the conservative vote is to wait for result. It's getting really close to Dusk might not get claims so I rather not vote unclaimed at this point.

Post by special on Sept 24, 2010 14:28:27 GMT -5
I am the third Mason (though on our secret board, red and peeker both tell me they're busy and may not drop by to confirm me). Mods: Is it legal for me to post excerpts from our secret conversation as evidence of my Masonic standing?I wonder if the 25 of us are just pawns in a meta-Mafia game being played by these three. I'd suggest lynching the Moderators before going after scum, but they probably have immunity. ;D Although I posted the above, I doubted the Moderators would be so sadistic. But now I'm not so sure. So I'm going to break the tie and vote for Dr. Strangelove His voting history: Day 1, Post 233, he voted for me. His reason: "To heck with it! (It's my bedtime anyway.)" Day 1, Post 391, he voted for Twilight Fangirl. His reason: "I'll vote for the player who's not posted once since signing up." Day 2, he has not cast a vote. He pointed FOS at Batman and Dr. Raj, because "I don't want to be accused of non-participation". He's posting just enough that he's just ahead of the "lurkers", but he's yet to really contribute to the discussion. Anyone wanna get a pool going on what role he's about to claim? I'd love to concoct some exotic Magician role, but I don't want to break my record of never yet lying in a Mafia Game! We can all agree Dr. Strangelove isn't the sharpest pencil in the set. It was foolish that my first two Mafia Games are Conspiracy and Halloween, but Hey! When teaching a kid to swim don't you just throw him in the deep end and watch him drown? Perhaps everyone is indeed Town, but for reasons previously given I will vote a Vig claimant. Vote: Dr. Rajesh Ramayan KoothrappaliI have no defense against stupid.

::: looks at everyone claiming :::
Is having everyone claim, and counter claim strictly better, or strictly worse than having everone fire off last night?
When do we get to the point where Town [Non-scum, Non-Masons] will have to strategize? Related, won't someone have to suck it up and take the lynch?
Are The claims worth anything, really, if the are in double? That is, if we all move in lock step with everyone else, Town as such doesn't gain a damn thing.
Like Wargames : The best move is not to play.
I'm not sure who to vote, not sure it would matter.
And for this game, repeat the above line, times 5.

Post by Suburban Plankton on Sept 24, 2010 14:49:16 GMT -5
OK, so here's a list off the top of my head of 'people I've considered voting for recently', in no particular order:
Dexter - for his lack of any actual analysis Gir - for being confusing as all get out Elizabeth Bathory - for subbing in, and then promptly disappearing Marcel - for his "I'm voting for myself" play earlier
Of those four, I'm inclined to believe that Marcel and Gir are actually just frustrated Townies.
As for the other two, I'm conflicted. I'd like to vote Dexter because he has actually made a number of posts, but he hasn't actually made any significant contribution.
Elizabeth, on the other hand, just plain hasn't said anything. And while I don't really like the idea of lynching someone against there is no evidence whatsoever, there comes a point where a person needs to play the game, or get out.
One thing bothers me about Elizabeth Bathory, from a meta-game perspective. She asked to sub in when we needed to replace two players, introduced herself, mentioned that she was trying to catch up, and then hasn't posted in 2 and a half days. This coming as a replacement for someone who signed up to play, made 3 posts over the course of a week, and then dropped out.
Maybe somebody else knows what's going on, but I can't help feeling that this is some kind of a setup.
And while I'm at it
unvote Dr. Strangelove
I thought about waiting until one of the other Masons showed up to confirm his claim, but I figure if he wasn't a Mason they would have spoken up to counter it by now. Unless neither has looked at the board in a while, in which case I'll just go with "don't lynch claimed folks".
I do hope that one of our 'confirmed' Masons will pop in before Dusk and validate this, though.

On the subject of posting restrictions, I'm not sure if everyone has seen what Mister Blockey posted over in the Waiting Room Is there a posting restriction in this game that disable other players to answer me AT ALL based on the time I post??? Well no. But there are post restrictions in this game. Some are simple, some are complex, and they're done in a way that I wouldn't reasonably expect anyone to be able to tell the difference. I want people to be able to post in character and to do it often. It's part of the fun of the game. It's nice to at least have confirmation that he is, in fact, fucking with us.

Shadowthrone would love this contest. Even if you held his warren to ransom to force him to play Town. He'd just out-scum the scum and giggle over their graves. Cotillion, he would just kill everybody and let Hood sort it out. And I, Iskaral Pust? Well, I don't know. But perhaps the masons should consider drawing up a nice mass claim list in their little hidey-hole, to use Tomorrow, considering we're halfway there already and no one's even been MURDERED yet. Am I kidding about that? Much like the Blue Rider, I don't even know! Heehee.
Did he actually compare himself to Batman, or did he claim "weak" in general?

I won't be on much, if at all, on Tuesdays, because I have a class after work. Please hold all comments, queries, accusations, etc. until Wednesday afternoon, because I'm not allowed to reply to anything posted if I'm not here that day. asked about "not allowed", she replied Ask Stay Puft. It's his rule. Stay Puft asked her if "Stay Puft" was a typo and she didn't reply. The largish number of Mods, disappearances, mysterious votes, etc. make me think there is a secret board somewhere where the Mods are laughing at us; players like Elizabeth Bathory have been recruited to that group. Maybe we should try Lynching one of the moderators and see what happens. ;D

Meh, I thought I had something, but not really. His PM saying "weak" does not necessarily imply the presence of a corresponding "strong" detective right? So he could still logically conclude that the presumed-stronger Batman was not town? Could he?
My own concern with the two detectives are that they are functionally too *similar*, so weak and strong doesn't really play into it; and that appears to be Zedd's issue as well ... argh.

With everyone claiming so early and all town power roles... I don't know who or how to trust... Right now the game seems very unbalanced... Other people thoughts? I'm not going to move my vote yet, but will if other see a better decision... well i certainly will move my vote if you don't move it off of a claimed mason.

I don't think anyone has actually voted for Dexter today. I talked a bit ago about being torn between him and Elizabeth Bathory, but I haven't made a decision yet. If the narrator doesn't come back and unvote Dr. Strangelove, there's no reason to not vote him. But that's such a transparently scummy move, I can't imagine any scum actually making it.
