Confirming. I'm going to go out o a limb here and guess that it's either impossible or extremely difficult to have everyone win by Day 7. Otherwise, what's the risk in everyone sharing all the info they know and cooperating? Add to that the lynch mechanism is designed to extract information. I will say that I can't see a good reason to lynch someone 3 times and throw them out of the game, though. I'm willing to cooperate to that extent. Although I guess someone could have a wincon that requires someone get lynched 3 times, either themselves or others. Mine doesn't though.

My PM doesn't say but I just assumed we all had win-stealing wincons. Oh great and powerful Ullz, if one person reaches their wincon, does the game go on?

Archangel: The rules state that a player wins (and can leave the game) when they reach their personal wincon(s). They say nothing about having only 1 winner. How can you assume that we all have win-stealing wincons? Do you have a win-stealing wincon?

Her potential wincon concerns me now, and we might want to know it before the end of the game. Plus it's a good a reason as any at this point.

Thank you for posting this, Zuma, I missed it. It seems likely that I just misunderstood my PM then.

No, I'm just frustrated because the votes make no sense and are based on something stupid. Zuma pointed out the rules and when I read them, it's clear I just misread my PM. I don't want to get lynched on Day One for having jumped to an incorrect conclusion.

Well, everyday is gonna be Day One, so it's gonna be tough to get lynched at any other time.

I see this is in the rules:
<<8. When players fulfills their wincon, they will be allowed to leave the game. At that point <<their role-name and unique wincon will be revealed. After the personal wincon has been <<fulfilled the player can no longer vote in the game. <<Spoiled players are not allowed to post in the game thread.
This clearly indicates that the wincons are *not* game-stealing. I skimmed the rules and I missed it, that's all.

You also need to get lynched 3 times before you lose, so you can come back tomorrow and bitch at all of us, too.

Confirmating.
Unusual game, with lynches only being for information. I think that whoever we lynch toDay we should also lynch toMorrow, so we get to see their win condition. Right now I am interested in archangel's win condition.
So vote archangel

I'm going to go out o a limb here and guess that it's either impossible or extremely difficult to have everyone win by Day 7. Otherwise, ... Is this clear? If not, I may have found a way out of the impasse. First note that we can divide all Mafia players into three sorts: (a) The altruists who would love it if each player in the game fulfills his or her win condition. (Would that be a Mafia first?) ;D (b) Mean-spirited humbugs for whom others' losing is as important as their own winning. (c) Those who refuse to divide people into three sorts. Now I think we should do partial claims and arrange for all the altruists to win and all the humbugs to lose. (Of course if you're an altruist but your wincon is incompatible with everyone winning, then you will be happy to sacrifice yourself in the common interest.) The partial claim I propose is for each of us to answer the following True/False questions: (1) My win-con is compatible with everyone winning. (2) I am an altruist; I want everyone to win. (3) My answer to (2) is truthful. (4) My answer to (3) is truthful. Although I've never lied in a Mafia game, it's come to my attention that the same doesn't hold for some of you, and some humbugs may cheerfully lie in response to (2), (3) and (4) above. But we can prevent that with a question (5) which will make the logical universe implode if responses to 2, 3, 4 are all lies: (5) I respond honestly to an even number of the questions (2), (3), (4), (5). I'll go first; my answers are: 1. True, 2. True, 3. True, 4. True, 5. True. Now whom to lynch? Why, the Humbugs of course!! Cooperation is for weenies anyway. I think that whoever we lynch toDay we should also lynch toMorrow, so we get to see their win condition. Since some of us are proud to be weenies, it is captainklutz's comment that might be most Humbuggish. I'd prefer to see others' answers to questions 1-5 before voting but (as I mentioned earlier) unreliable Internet induces me to cast an early vote just in case. Vote: captainklutz

I can answer True to all the True/False questions posed in #81 but, as I said before, I fear any sort of cooperation will lead to the game becoming dull and mechanical as we just go through the motions in order to get the highest number of players to their wincons. It seems to be somewhat against the spirit of the game of mafia.

It seems to be somewhat against the spirit of the game of mafia. This particular game is highly unusual, so the "spirit of mafia" is not quite there. Even so, I greatly doubt we could get everyone playing co-operatively. I've seen people play against their own side, in order to achieve a more exclusive victory (that is, they preferred to win with a small group of players over winning with a large group). For example, we have had games where the masons had an opportunity to steal the win from the rest of the Town. My wincon is compatible with everyone winning. I actually don't care who wins, as long as I'm one of them (my record is 1 win, lots of losses).

Vote: captainklutz How is my comment humbuggish? Lynching archangel twice won't make her lose (unless she has a "don't get lynched twice" wincon). So she's not being automatically excluded from any group win.
