Makes me wonder how they'd put up with this place which has ads galore. : P
I dunno. Am I the only one there used to flashing, talking ads?

I don't get the flashing ads here or on the SD. I use opera. Please don't tell.

I use firefox, and I see no ads.... Course, I also miss out on the funny google ads, and I dont get to see colored names and such. But otherwise, this thread is always neat and clean.

Well, I don't see flashing banner ads here. And I don't pay to post here either. They'll lose a fair number of members, especially come April, I imagine.

Idle, you don't ask us for money to come play around here. That is the biggest cause of resentment over on the Dope; that they both charge for posting privileges and inflict these ads on us.1
There's also a lot of resentment that someone is handing out false information. Tuba gave the impression it was temporary to allow a fault to be traced. Jerry's post says that it's a policy imposed from on high and imples there's nothing temporary at all.
1Full disclosure; I don't see them at all yet.

I'm bummed about the ads on the SD, mostly because they're pissing people off and further degrading the user base over there. I use firefox and do not see the ads thanks to the Adblock Plus plugin. I don't feel the same fire of slighted principles that others seem to feel since I have a work-around to avoid the ads. I pay my money over there every year not so that I can avoid ads, but so I access to the people and the community. So I'm stuck somewhere between being ticked at the "powers on high" for implementing the ads, and ticked at the people who are leaving for not having thicker skins about the whole affair. I don't want the Dope to die off any more than it already has.

I can't see the ads when I look around over there as a guest. I thought maybe it was because I was a guest, but that wouldn't make any sense 'cause it should be the guests who get ads and the members who don't. I guess it'd because I'm using Firefox as well?

I don't see 'em either, and I use IE 6.something. I wonder if the popup blocker, or the ad blocker, or something keeps 'em off my comp.
