After a day in which silence was a precious commodity, the assembled crowd stood still and wordless as the Town Hall clock announced the dusk. Governor Rugger mounted the platform ahead of the condemned, flipping a small switch on the back of the chair. The lights in the meeting room dimmed briefly as the circuits in the chair came to life with a high-pitched whine. Above the chair, a red light - a warning light - clicked on, bathing the platform in red shadows.
The crowd pressed in around the platform, still not speaking. NAF1138 and Pleonast stared impassively, their faces worn from the weight of the many accusations they had both faced during the day.
When his time came, zuma made no fuss. He seemed rather oddly serene, in fact, given his predicament. He made no attempt to defend himself, or to fight against the nervous, sweating colonists who led him to the chair. He sat, his head lolling to the side a bit, and the restraints were fastened.
After a pause, Governor Rugger pronounced the duly-voted doom of zuma, then pressed the button on the small switch he held in his hand.
Those expecting theatrics were a bit disappointed. A ripple ran through zuma's body from feet to head. It repeated three times. On the third pass, there was a small stir as the half gallon of liquor zuma had consumed reacted to the heat of the electrical current as cheap vodka will often react to a rapid increase in temperature. But zuma's head was quickly extinguished.
A short time later, the town's Coroner - a small, nervous man named sachertorte who was surely no Replicant but wanted no part of the play taking place in the Town Hall - emerged from his lab. Every eye turned to him.
But his expression was grim, and his news was... not good.
zuma, a Vanilla Colonist, has gone to the great electric sheep pasture in the sky.

Night begins now. Any unused Day actions are lost for Day One. Because of the holiday weekend, I think it would be prudent to extend the Night considerably, to allow for a fresh start when the weekend is over. Therefore, the Night will end on Saturday evening, November 24, at 5:00PM EST. Please submit all Night actions to me via PM by that time. You may change your action as many times as you wish; I'll use the last PM I receive before 5PM Saturday as your official action.
Happy Night!

Botheration.
I think we need a morale boosting event. How about a classical concert? Meet around an hour after full dark, and those of you who can play bring instruments.
I've got a baton and metrognome at home so I'll keep the timing. OK?

Cookies-"I don't know if we have enough time for this, but it seems fairer all around if Santo unvoted, considering that his vote is currently contributing to the tie that he would be called upon to break. I assume that if we move to the end of the Day with the current vote-count, that Santo will send Pleo to the gallows, or he would've already changed his vote."
You may not have demanded me to unvote, but you sure did say that it would be more fair if I did. In addition, you explicitly stated that me contributing to a tie that I was a voter for was unfair. This implies that it would be more fair if I wasn't part of that tie. One way to do that would have been for me to unvote somebody who I thought was scum. Five ways to do that would be for the others voting for Pleo to remove their votes. Fourteen other ways to do that would be for those not voting for either of them to cast their vote for zuma to do so. One did, and a Colonist died.

I'd also like to note that I wouldn't have even realized Cookies vote was also in the tie, had she not mentioned it -twice- in her defense.
Maybe I'm being too sensitive, I don't know, but this one's really rubbing me the wrong way. It's not like I voted for Pleo with the intention of trying to create a tie in the future.

Funnily enough, 'Man Out of Time' is the song I am listening to right now. [Armed Forces, OTOH, is my *least* favourite EC album] OK, I promise I won't talk about EC any more. Maybe. At least it's not Air Supply, right?

I knew this was going to happen. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. So I guess I should have lost myself in the one off's. Be that as it may. It was tied between Pleo and zuma at the end. I didn't vote for Pleo for the same reason I didn't vote for you NAF: Your power role claims that will or will not be proven in the near future. I didn't want Pleo to be Westinghoused and I noted that the Guv had already voted for him and didn't want him to have to break the tie or declare a no lynch. . And since zuma hadn't claimed anything and I was bothered by his opportunism in attacking someone (as I was and am with you NAF) for voting for one of three people with two votes on them it seemed the lesser of three evils to vote for zuma.
Would you rather we no lynched, or potentially lynched a power role? If so why were you looking for voters at the last minute? Or do you value two votes from Santo Rugger more than one vote from me?

Hey, I am not accusing, I just said I wanted to hear from you. There are hundreds of good reasons to have voted for zuma. I just wanted to hear what you said now that we know zuma's alignment.

Quotes of apparent interest from me on Day 1: drain... My response to drain... Santo... My response to Santo... (Out of chronological order) Santo... To which I respond... Which brings me to today when I can actually quote stuff... Cookies-"I don't know if we have enough time for this, but it seems fairer all around if Santo unvoted, considering that his vote is currently contributing to the tie that he would be called upon to break. I assume that if we move to the end of the Day with the current vote-count, that Santo will send Pleo to the gallows, or he would've already changed his vote." I'd also like to note that I wouldn't have even realized Cookies vote was also in the tie, had she not mentioned it -twice- in her defense. Maybe I'm being too sensitive, I don't know, but this one's really rubbing me the wrong way. It's not like I voted for Pleo with the intention of trying to create a tie in the future. I'm not in a position to "demand" anything nor puplically pull puppet strings on Sinjin or anyone else playing in this game. As we moved into the final hours of the Day with a 5 to 5 tie between Pleo and zuma, I realized that the placement of your vote in the tie, combined with the ambiguity of the motivations behind putting you in office, combined with some of the inherant wifom of the Governor role...all added up to a possibly bad situation that should be discussed as much as possibly in the short term, and certainly in the long term. I have no idea if what I said influenced sinjin's vote. It very well might have. I don't know if sinjin's motivation for breaking the tie was scummy. It very well might have been. Could things have turned out worse for the Colony if Santo had been given a tie-breaking decision? They very well might have. Some people are obviously keying into the specific circumstances that surrounded my statement and are finding me scummy for what/when/how I said what I said when with the circumstantial evidence of sinjin's vote and zuma's demise. I certainly can't fault anyone for that. It is how the game is played. I can only suggest that they also consider the general issues of the Governor role and ties. If I'm lynched for voicing my reservations on that topic, I hope it at least catalyzes some conversations that will benefit the Colony.

I have to say I'm with Cookies in a way--I think it might be best, IF TOWN AGREES, for the governor to abstain until his tiebreaking vote is necessary.
As for the other questions upthread--the last time I saw Zuma play the drunken fool, he was scum. I don't trust anyone establishing a pattern of quirky or intoxicated behavior, because it makes it WAY too easy to explain away slips and random scummy bullshit with "oh, I was drunk."
The other WIFOM reason is this--most of the acting-crazy players we've had, MadtheSwine being the exemplar, have been town. However, in the last few games, Sekham in particular, a few scum have started doing it (looking right at Idle here, and zuma himself to a much lesser extent).
Either way, it's counterproductive and hurts town, and it's got a decent chance of being a ruse, and really, I had nothing better to go on.

Maybe I'm getting a little too WIFOM, but I can't picture a ruse like that this early in the game. I probably should have asked the question I was assuming the answer to...
Story, did the scum get to strategize on Night Zero?

Aw, poor zuma. R.I.P. Something just to bother Roosh: Coincidentally, dotchan was lynched first in Firefly. Who did she replace? ZUMA! Heh heh heh. ( This is in total jest, by the way.) I guess since we can still talk about stuff at night, there's no need for a bartender? Oh, and also I'd just like to re-say in here that I'm going to be gone from basically after this post, until Sunday.

I'm not a big fan of night-discussion, I think.
