Good call. I suppose Colby must be telling the truth then because no one counter-claimed that they were roleblocked, and why would Scum roleblock their own? Which kind of bites for me because I was so sure he was Scum Sorry. In all honesty I think we should allow the Scum night kill tonight. Selfishly, I need more people to die, and there are still Town out there that need particular other Town to die, so why would be block Scum? In a normal game of course that would make sense, but in this game I don't think it does. This is who I am in case anyone needs me dead:

I think we need to do a mass claim on Day Six. The tricky part is the details, of course.
We need to do this in two parts * Everyone needs to reveal their name, nationality and role. * Everyone needs to reveal their precise victory conditions.
But I'm not sure which part we should do first. I favor the name/nation/role claims first, but it's reasonable doing it either way.
We can also quibble about the order players should reveal, but that tends to get bogged down in arguments and delays. I'd rather just get the information out as quickly as possible and pressure those who don't comply.

The PM I posted is all the same except that I redacted the fact that I was Icelandic and the way swammer confirmed that looked right that I was his personal target.

We already know that we have different nationalities, etc. Is it not a simple matter of removing just one line or so from a claim to make it pass a test?

We need claims because we're at the point that players need to account for themselves. That certainly means claiming name, nationality and victory conditions. What pro-town purpose can there be to withhold those at this late point in the game? Especially victory conditions. Why should we trust any player who won't even tell us what they need to win? And probably some explanation of their powers is needed. That doesn't necessarily mean full disclosure. I'm not revealing my power(s) because they're triggered under some conditions when I'm targeted by another player. I see no reason to let scum know what will happen or what the conditions are in advance. And story's purpose for not reveal their power is also plausibly pro-town. But every player should either claim a power or explain why they shouldn't. Should I trust you? Up until now I wanted you dead! You want me dead too. Who do you think is the last scum? It's not me but come on, put your thoughts on the line or us Townies could lose. Sorry, you're still my best candidate for being scum. Your play seems more like trying stay on town's good side, as exemplified by your stress on how helpful your power is. Your "surprise" about your victory condition not being "scum". Your scum hunting has been grossly mischaracterizing others. I have a townie feel from Meeko and storyteller. I'm queasy about Klutz and Colby--for claimed town power roles, they've been remarkably ineffective. Klutz did not investigate anyone who's turned up scum. Colby has not prevented any kills, as far as we know. Of course, they have their reasons and I'm not going to be advocating lynching either one, but power roles who don't actually accomplish anything bother me. I think Paranoia and Chameleon are not direct threats to town. It's very unlikely that there'd be a third-party faction of win stealers with three members. And that leaves, swammerdami, who I don't have a good feel for.

Excellent result. With the role blocker dead it is safer to co-ordinate in public. In all honesty I think we should allow the Scum night kill tonight. Selfishly, I need more people to die, and there are still Town out there that need particular other Town to die, so why would be block Scum? In a normal game of course that would make sense, but in this game I don't think it does. To get everyone winning we need to fine tune the ending, investigating lots of people and lynching selectively (perhaps including a no lynch if we need more time for investigations). This can only happen if we control all the kills, so we need to eliminate the scums kill. If scum do get a kill toNight (or any Night) then we do not have control and so I will then just be trying to lynch scum.

You appear to be saying that a cop's only value is to find scum. Surely you, of all people, know that clearing townies is just as important. Indeed, it is often more valuable to clear townies than to find scum. And I think Colby has a very valid reason for not preventing any kills - he has been blocked every Night. And yet his "not accomplishing anything" bothers you? But we don't seem to be bothering you that much after all, as after this bit of smudging you're not actually advocating a lynch.

I know there's an on-going debate about whether or not colour is important, but do we really think an American is going to be a Communist here? The 2 Scum we know were Ukrainian and Lithuanian and Town seem to be western European apart from SisC. Dizzy was Georgian but they have good reason to have problems with Russia even though they used to be part of the empire. The third party consists of an Indian, an Egyptian and a Serb - kind of on the "outskirts" in some ways, having potential issues with both sides, which makes sense. If there's only one Scum left do we think they're not Russian? How would a godfather be revealed from the voted-for investigation? I'm assuming that what the mod reveals is correct but who knows. And all this could mean nothing at all. I just feel like Pleo may not be our remaining Scum.

I need you dead, Miss Iceland, before we off all the Scum. I'd much rather Klutz identify another certain Townie or two, before confirming that Pleonast is Scum.

I'm not really sure I see a good way for everybody to be a winner when this is over, and what I really don't want is for us to get so involved in devising clever strategies to get a win for everyone that we somehow let the Scum steal a win out from under us.

I think we can have almost everyone win except Scum, the first step being to follow Pleo's suggestion and have everyone reveal. Even 3rd Party (Paranoia and Chameleon) will win, though we may want to Lynch them early on, lest they double-cross just for fun, and give Scum the win.

Actually, if no one needs us dead the only way for everyone to win may be for us to stay alive. If most Townies need another Townie dead to win and no one needs the 3rd parties dead, then leaving us alive makes the most sense. And I'm not saying this selfishly - I'm saying it practically. I don't care if I'm dead or alive at the end of the game as long as 15 people have been killed. That would seem to mean that most Townies need to make their win condition as well.

Yes, I suspect that the only way for everyone to win is for the third parties to be the final survivors. However, I'm not prepared to take the chance that they are win stealers, so they need to be dead before then.
Similarly, if we have not stopped the scum kill then we can't afford to get clever and deliberately mislynch. Again, there will be better clarity after we see toNight's outcome.

Should I trust you? Up until now I wanted you dead! You want me dead too. Who do you think is the last scum? It's not me but come on, put your thoughts on the line or us Townies could lose. I think that after Pleo's post I will definitely be voting for him again tomorrow, talk about mischaracterising people. Here's what I see: "Hey, Pleo give us your thoughts on who's scum." "Oh look, Pleo is smudging someone." That was rather transparent of you. At least I am looking for scum and considering everyone. Why don't you give us your thoughts on all the remaining players? I'm queasy about Klutz and Colby--for claimed town power roles, they've been remarkably ineffective. Klutz did not investigate anyone who's turned up scum. Colby has not prevented any kills, as far as we know. Of course, they have their reasons and I'm not going to be advocating lynching either one, but power roles who don't actually accomplish anything bother me. This is a fairly extraordinary statement. And yet his "not accomplishing anything" bothers you? But we don't seem to be bothering you that much after all, as after this bit of smudging you're not actually advocating a lynch. Actually, I agree that confirming town is generally more useful than outing scum. But unfortunately, you have not confirmed anyone yet. First, your results are unreliable--you haven't produced a town result yet. Second, an investigator only confirms players once the investigator themself is confirmed. You are not. Really, the only thing in your favor as being town is that you've claimed to be an alignment investigator and no one has counter-claimed you. That means you are likely town, because town is likely to have an alignment investigator. Unfortunately, your play has been indistinguishable from that of a scum falsely claiming to be an investigator. As scum, I've claimed to be a townie investigator and produced a steady stream of "confirmations". In other words, what have you done that a falsely claiming scum would not have done? We have the same problem regarding Colby11 as well. The evidence in favor of them being town is that there's been no counter-claim. And like you, that's good enough to not be lynched. But again, a scum who's falsely claimed to be a protector could just as easily claimed to have been blocked every Night, or otherwise failed to protect anyone. What has Colby done that a falsely claiming scum would not have done? Bottom line is that once we're down to a few players and haven't found the last scum, I want the remaining town (I have no illusions that I'll last that long) to keep in mind exactly what we know and what we've only been assuming. It'd be crazy-stupid to lynch either of you now, but if you're one of the last players, I don't want to lose because other townies forgot what we don't know.

Well, except apparently Colby11 really is a Doctor, according to the (known town) role investigator. Right? So in order for Colby to be Scum, he'd have to be a Scum Doctor and we'd have to have no Town Doctor. Possible? I guess. Likely within my idea of what would consitute a reasonably balanced game? Not really.
