Oy. I watched Blade Runner last night, and I can't believe I waited 25 years to watch a boring mess of a movie. It was on my list of great films I've never seen, and while it was kind of technically good by 1982 standards, I can only take so much of failed noir, rain-soaked futuristic LA, self-important dreck. Next up is Bogart in Casablanca. I don't think I'll be as disappointed. Sorry to dis Blade Runner, but really. Well, I for one don't agree; I didn't catch it on its original run but I like the movie very much, nonetheless. But... do you really think it's wise to voice that opinion in a game based loosely on the movie? Where the moderator is an avowed fan of the movie? And where the mod holds the power to modkill you at any time? (and where the other players, which probably hold a majority of fans of the movie in their ranks, could also proceed to swiftly lynch you?)Just asking, is all

He probably thinks I have shitty tastes, but I doubt he's a dick. Sure, I'll voice my opinion and I don't think it's unwise. I didn't like Star Wars either. And why do you think I'd be lynched for not liking Blade Runner? Are you going to vote to swiftly lynch me for not liking Blade Runner? Are you going to go on record with your vote for me based on my Blade Runner review?

Sorry, I'm still a bit catatonic after suffering through Blade Runner.

It just occured to me that I might be a joke detector myself! I found this tiny paper Abbot and Costello thingie in my hallway, after wandering around aimlessly in the rain for 2 long hours. It all makes sense now...

I believe (based on meager experience) that the Director's Cut is a much worse movie for first-time viewers than the Theatrical release. (Even the xkcd writer found it slow, zuma.) I'd almost suggest a separate thread to discuss the movie, but then we'd start smiting each other like crazy. But I really want to see the the workprint version too; I have to wait and maybe decide if I want to get HD or Blu-ray. Another random Blade Runner thing (okay, probably a result/cause of the re-release hype) - 1up's rundown of Blade Runner in video games.

You said you were going to be killed at the end of Day 7. That would be 2 Nights hence, so it looks reasonable to let you live until then and, if you are still alive, to re-evaluate your claim. So yes, it does sound like "let me live for 2 more Nights". I stated that there is a CHANCE of me dying at Dusk of Day 7. -That's NOT 2 nights. I basically have tonight to fix my problem apparently. -My %'s that have been increasing over time apparently can be used towards myself to try to fix the device. Currently I'm at 67%, and yes, that IS what my night action currently is. I don't mind sharing that information- I'm pretty much "protecting myself" as apparently that's the way I can defuse the activated device. I haven't given up on myself yet. I plan on trying to stay around for as LONG as I possibly can. ~~~~~~~~~ "stop assuming that because someone knows a town role up front they HAVE to be town."-That's just worrisome then. It seems kinda... unfair. Though it could explain why Kat was offed so quickly, but still. I'll have think about that one. ~~~~~~~ "kassia's method/equipment for controlling replicants was not found." - Klutz-This one was just weird, because I didn't remember the text pointing out that she had any equipment on her persons. But the fact that you state that she NEEDED equipment to do so threw me off. All Story mentions is: "Further research revealed that she had been an off-world businesswoman, whose had come to New Canaan intending to gain control over the town's rogue Replicants, via means that her various possessions did not clarify. "Your reading into that she needed EQUIPMENT to do so is kinda puzzling as it's different from mine. Hey Storyteller, Did Kassia have additional Equipment related to her Role on her persons aka in that various stuff that we looked at?? /OR/ Just HOW did she control Replicants? I personally thought Kassia was just acting on her own from the flavor, because it seemed to indicate Kassia as a 3rd party person, but it not seem to indicate that there is a GROUP of them. But I'll keep in mind that we could be dealing with a group, even though at this point in the game, you'd think that more of them would have turned up due to the # of deaths we've had so far. There's less than half of us from the start. Unless the speculators have been playing a brilliant game so far.... I think maybe tomorrow we should think about mass claiming and just seeing what turns up at this point in the game. ~~~~~~ Casablanca is a wonderful film. I was a nay-sayer but I found out it still has a timeless appeal even to a blow hard as myself. ~~~~~~~ As for the serial killer thing, well I've got an insane stunt-man as my avatar... but then again, my guy gets his comeuppance in the film. I had no idea who your guy was until you mentioned it. Is it Dexter? As I don't get HBO but i've heard of that series.

story says:
Kassia, the Speculator, had the ability to take control of Replicants. The means by which this was accomplished was not discernible by examination of her body. Not everything about her abilities has been, or will be, elucidated.
----
On the subject of "Wedlock Bracelets - " you have, to date, seen no such device on the bodies of any of the dead. This does not mean that they were or were not present, simply that you didn't collectively observe them if they were. All the bodies have been sent to the local crematorium - every frontier town needs a local crematorium - so retrospective examination is not possible.

Though it could explain why Kat was offed so quickly, but still. I'll have think about that one. Yes, it is slightly unfair, but then consider that if it is true, the chances are that the result will be probably vanilla townie instead of town power role.

I have been thinking again (yes, I know its dangerous) about the numbers of roles in the game. I had a look at the Firefly to get an idea of Game balance and the following ideas came out.
We have 25 people.
My guess is that we have 5 scum.
This leaves 20 townies. If there are multiple Speculators I would guess at three of them (nice standard number).
This leaves 17 remaining. Of those I would expect a 50/50 split of vanilla/power role.
So we have
5 scum 3 Speculators 9 Vanilla 8 Pro-town power role
We have lynched/had night killed
3 scum 1 Speculator 6 Vanilla 4 Pro-town power role This leaves
2 scum 2 speculators 3 vanillla 4 pro-town power role (3/4? masons + 1 other?)
Comments/criticisms ??

Personally I think the original Directors Cut needs 2 viewings before you can really understand why it is still such a groundbreaking work. The theatrical release is less...nuanced...but in the context of the time, the movie really changed all the rules about film making. I haven't seen the new release yet.)

The only other thing that needs doing is something similar to Captain Klutz's character analysis from the first 3 days but using tragic, drainbead and episodeofblonde as the starting points.
