I have added myself to the mod list again...because I have TWO GREAT IDEAS for future games. One would be a MEGA-GASTARD game. Since I thought up this Super Mario one all by myself and all of it game from my own head, I'm positive I could do a really good bastard mod one. I'm talking really good. But I'm more excited about my other idea..which isn't an actual KNOWN/EXISTING theme, but more or less just a game that has a name (and that will be themed off of the name): Mafia: The Sands of Time....which will have, among many other things, time travel. I was thinking about it the other day when reading about how people thought Chucara went back in time in the current game. I thought: "What if there was a game that was centered around time travel?" Not just ONE person having the ability or a role like that but the WHOLE GAME having time travel as a huge facet? I could do it, I know I could...I could do it and STILL have the game playable and balanced and non-broken, even though it seems like a time travel game would have the potential to be broken as hell. But already I've got great ideas for it. OH man, do I ever. And if I can think up these things just all with my own brain, imagine if I had a co-mod or two. Heh. Anyway, comment on what you think of these ideas for games and then leave your own: What themes do you think would make great games? I know Mr Special Ed was talking about (on the FB group) a Bad 80s Sitcoms-themed game. That would be interesting. And Pedescribe's next game on the FB group is Hamlet-themed. There was also talk of someone making a Star Wars themed game. What other themes would rock?

By the way...the SMB game going on right now is NOT a gastard game...although a lot of people seem to think it is and have even said it is. This amuses me since I didn't intend or ever think of it as a gastard game. I see it as a silly, ridiculous, fun, unpredictable game....but not one that actually goes out of the way to screw with the players or make things overly hard to win.

Bastard mod games are always fun!
I would love to see a time travel game, if you could find a way to make it work. I don't see a way to incorporate "time travel" into the game, but then, I've only been thinking about it for 5 minutes or so (hmmmm....maybe people could go back to previous Day threads and change votes? ;D)
I wanna see a Highlander themed game (series, not movies). I toyed around with it myself for a while, but couldn't come up with decent game mechanics.

I was thinking "Mission Impossible" or maybe pirate (I know pirate has been done in here... but I think it would be fun on FB)
The time travel thing:
I just LOVE that idea!!!! Do IT!!!

The time travel sounds like a blast! I've got quite a few movie themes in mind....Star Wars was almost a muppet theme but, I love Star Wars so it won! I was thinking a Wheel of Time as well based on the series by Robert Jordan....unfortunately, I'm not finished the books yet so it will have to wait for me to do it. TL...if you do a pirate theme, don't make me a parrot....I would lynch myself....hehehe!

I just finished book four. I've heard I only need to slug through 7,000 pages until it gets good again. I'd love to do Lost, but have no idea how to pull it off. That will probably have to wait until the series end. Oh and my next game here will be cool too. Play it

I always thought Advance Wars had enough material to pull it off, especially if you add overarching daytime mechanics.

There's still one more to come out next Autumn then I think he'll be done. I read somewhere that he's unwell so it was uncertain at one time that there'd even be a final book.

I did a Buffy themed game on FB so obviously I need to do a follow-up on there of Angel.
I'd love one on Heinlein or E E Doc Smith books too.

NETA - Robert Jordan actually died last year But before he died he made notes and audio recordings telling exactly how the book should go and it's being written by Brandon Sanderson.

I did suggest, in one post, that The Village would be a great setting.
The Prisoner themed Mafia.
"What do you want?" "Information. We want ... information." "You won't get it!" "By hook or by crook - we will."

Books Seven through Three Hundred and Twelve are increasingly hard to navigate, especially once he just sort of abandons everything he's done so far to focus on an entirely new plotline. But the last published book was fun, and I'm hoping the final book works.

Monty Python - but that is far better be on FB where games tend to be a bit more silly. Just imagine a vig yelling: nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition before killing of the Town priest *lol*
Or the masons getting posting restrictions if scum say "It" in a post.

I just had some ideas for an Arrested Development game. I think I'm gonna pop on over to FB and get in line with that one. It's really the greatest TV show ever.
Well, besides ST:TNG. I would love to play in a TNG game. You could even incorporate DS9. Empaths, shapeshifters, worm symbionts...there's gold in them thar hills.

Seconding Star Wars: I knew I was a mafia addict when I heard the pejorative "Rebel Scum" and I thought "Ooh, that'd be an interesting setup!" ;D
Post restriction mafia (wherein everybody except the scum has a mod-determined post restriction, and the scum have to make one up in order to blend in) would be hilarious, but a pain in the butt to run.

Maybe I'll start some basic research. (ie watch the series, which I have on DVD). I believe that to this day I've never watched episodes 15 or 16.
As for the Wheel of Time, one thing you have to realise is that the series (at least the timeline) is like a river. It rushes out of the mountains with a lot of pressure; books 1 and 2 cover just under a year (the action takes place in 998 NE). Books 3 to 5, and most of 6, take place in 999NE; there is that huge Cairhienen celebration of the Festival lof Lights that marks the end of one year and the start of the next late on in Book 6. The battle of Dumai's Wells takes place on the 15th day of 1,000NE.
Books 7 to 11, all told, cover the winter and early spring of 1,000NE. It's frustrating (especially book 10; you can skip large chunks of it.)
Book 12 is expected to be a mammoth tome.
As an aside, if you have not read the prequel novel New Spring, do so. In it, RJ shows the tests for the Shawl. The book is worth it for that alone. (The second half is a retread of the novella he wrote for an anthology, but worth it for the meeting of Lan and Moiraine).

I don't know if I'll pick it back up (it's been YEARS) but I think that prequel sounds like a lot of fun, with some nice payoffs.

It's relatively short too. 334 pages in my copy.
If you know the Seanchan marriage ceremony you've read book 10. If you don't, and want to, PM me.

I know Tragic was thinking about doing a WoT based one for her turn at hosting and I was going to help her with it. If she's still up for hosting when her turn rolls around we might do that. Or I could just do that. I have one theme-based game waiting in the rafters whenever I get around to hosting again: Bioshock. But not sure how many people would be interested in it. My other theme-based game is a secret, and I swear I'll get around to hosting it on the Dope eventually.

Though, I'm curious as to how you're going to do town/scum. After all, the two main bad guys were rivals themselves, and other than their respective splicer armies, they didn't really have any allies that they didn't piss off and/or kill.

I have a couple mini's going through my head but they're both totally closed set ups.
I've also been contemplating a haunted village mafia with a day/night set up (where half the players can only post during the day, and the other half only during the night, with all of the interesting roles that can be spawned out of that)
