Wait a minute...
This makes me think that my 2:30am idea was not as off-base as I had thought. The only thing I had wrong was that we couldn't put votes down on multiple people.

Wait a minute... This makes me think that my 2:30am idea was not as off-base as I had thought. The only thing I had wrong was that we couldn't put votes down on multiple people. And we finally get to faux vote! I think I'll probably be voting Mr Special Ed but I want to reread before making my case. I have a feeling that he was telling the truth when he suggested the DBI "my scum" slip may have been planned. The thing is though I think it's entirely possible they concocted the idea between them with him pointing the slip out and waiting for the votes to roll in. Need to go back and check I'm remembering right though.

I have no idea why I came back inconclusive. It certainly isn't the same as coming back "scum" or "pfk" You're right it's not. I said it brings suspicion, that's all. It's a data point. Yes. But, by claim was intentional strategy, not a slip like most of these others. I did so to protect another townie who was likely to come under fire. And thanks to the godfather being dead, I knew that she and another player were both town, that makes 3 town out of 14 that at least should not be voted for in a mechanic that can be gamed by scum. I did not claim under any pressure (heck, I haven't even been voted on any of these Days, that I can recall) and no one has disputed either what I am or any of my findings. You have no reason to trust me indisputably, but neither do you have reason not to trust me. If you think you do, state your case. Yes. Doesn't change the reasons why I claimed. If I'm going to die, I'd rather die with confirmation of two townies and the knowledge of two people I can't get a read on revealed then take everything to my grave. I mean, I breadcrumbed Mitey here (http://psychopathgame.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=water&action=display&thread=620&page=1#36511) But I don't even know how good of one that was. It's hard to breadcrumb without hanging a sign that says "Hi. I'm the detective." So I decided it wiser to claim. I guess time will tell how wise it was.

Yes, if you're scum and lying, more power to you. I can't really criticize your strategy. My problem is if you're telling the truth. You're making it easier for the Scum to kill you. The same goes for Hoopy. However, if your claim IS truthful and was given because of Hoopy's.....then he's just tricked you into claiming early... What the? Nice smudge of me while attacking Nanook. Yes, you're right. My claim which mentions dick-all about the Doctor and the only other power roles it calls out are the masons and I give adequate pro-town reason why it might be wise for them to claim but explain that I am not them and do not know them or what their powers are so I'll leave it up to them to decide if and how they want to do their claim was all a trick to get the Doctor to claim. I'm just so wiley like that. Yes, tremble before my awesome power to get random townies to claim. I am the Claiminator! I'll be frank, I don't think Nanook should have claimed. I disagree with it. But I'm not him, I'm not his role, and I won't chastise him for what he did. If he's town, he's doing what he feels is in town's best interest. If he's scum, he's pulling a gambit that creates a significant data point. Especially since doctor is a dangerous thing for a non-pressured scum to claim. Doctors don't last long as a general rule. I wanted the masons to claim so that we had a solid block of confirmed townies. I didn't want anyone else to claim, but I'm not going to stop them either. But you've been pinging me more each and every Day. I did consider it interesting after I couldn't get a read on you. It became even more interesting when it happened to someone else who had been pinging other people. And now you come along and smudge me while castigating Nanook for his play. faux-vote Special EdFor the smudge and other pings I get from you. I have to go, so I don't have time to explicitly list what pings me about you at this point, but expect one in due time.

Ok...I'm a bit less confused right now. Hoopy...thank you for investigating me! You're welcome. Thanks for being confirmable. But I want to hear your thoughts on all this. Kat's, too. Because I know I can trust you two and likely the mason since he hasn't been counterclaimed and I highly doubt KidV could have pounced on the modkill that quickly. It's a shame Rysto got modkilled. I don't know if my claim had anything to do with it or if was just coincidence, but I don't think any of us should really speculate on it since I don't want to see any more town modkills.

And for any of you who think I claimed just because of this mechanic, I was planning on claiming either toDay or toMorrow anyway, this mechanic plus Ed's "should we lynch mitey" just pushed it to toDay. I had planned on claiming on Day 3 had MiteyMouse been under pressure then. The split was a net gain for town in that respect. I got one more confirmation and we nailed the godfather, which makes my confirmations solid when I'm confirmed. My suggestion that we discuss lynching mitey is to see if it freezes the win condition. It's Day 5, and we're back to our Day 1 win condition. If it keeps changing, it won't be until Day 9 that we get back to this win condition. Are we 100% convinced that the win conditions will continue to change even if mitey dies?

Not real votes. If we use real votes, and then change our mind for whatever reason(a claim, a persuasive argument, whatever), you just left a real unvote on that person in order to switch. Too risky. And to put my money where my mouth is, I'm going to Faux Vote Mr Special Ed Yellow btw. Seems better than most of the other options.
OK, so faux votes and then a real vote followed by an unvote. I think I get that now, because un-faux-voting will be meaningless, right?

Is it possible that you're a not entirely effective cop? It wouldn't be unheard of to include a power role who is less than 100% effective. Possible? Any non-confirmed mechanic is possible. Likely? Nope. It's why I thought I might be insane in some way. Like I could only confirm town. But Idle said I'm not insane. There is also no indication by him in either my role PM or my conversations with him that I have a failure percentage chance. So I'm going to go with the assumption that something was interfering with my investigations, and I know that being able to investigate two town means that I don't seem to have problems with all townies. Just some players who may or may not be town. It's a data point. By itself it means nothing. and it's a longshot that a scum investigator figured out your role so early and then a scum roleblocker has gotten a bead on you. I also can't see how my role could play into you not getting a good read on me. Of course, I can't see how my role can do much of anything.

That's not a smudge. That's me approaching this from a complete lack of knowledge point of view. You could be lying. If Nanook is really the doctor, he can't be 100% sure you're telling the truth. nd if you're being honest, you can't be 100% sure Nanook is telling the truth. That's a fact, not a smudge. I'm preaching caution, but it seems I'm the only one. Maybe I'm wrong, but if you guys are telling the truth and are our power roles, I see you as extremely vulnerable right now. Your claim does beg for the doctor to protect you. Which would leave the doctor vulnerable, and now a doctor has claimed, leaving one or both of you vulnerable. Am I silly for seeing this as a flaw in town strategy? If you both are town, that is. Doctors don't last long as a general rule. and if you look his claim is what really made me wonder what the heck was going on. A Day 5 investigator claim isn't really out of line. An unprovoked doctor claim is. Especially when there appears to be a possibility of 2 kills by scum/pfk. I hope it's not true, and it's a vig, but can we be sure? It's possible that scum/pfk have had other kills fail because they targeted a protected person or targetted the same person or maybe even a Scotsman (would we find out about that) I wanted the masons to claim so that we had a solid block of confirmed townies. I didn't want anyone else to claim, but I'm not going to stop them either. This makes sense too But you've been pinging me more each and every Day. If you want to lynch me, might I suggest you wait until toMorrow? I cannot be lynched or NK'd while underwater. In the air, where it looks like we're going next, I'll be more vulnerable. On the ground, I'll be extrememly vulnerable. I don't want this to be a wasted lynch toDay. But it does make sense to lynch me to find out what your inconclusive reading means.

In this post here: psychopathgame.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=water&action=display&thread=618&page=12#36320 And since an uncountered detective has claimed she is town. Nothing is 100% until completely mod-confirmed, but there is no good reason to think that a lynch of Mitey will accomplish anything but bringing non-town parties closer to their goals. Oh, and I'm off to a NYE party soon, so Happy New Year everybody.

Possible, but why would a scum role-blocker who has a bead on a detective not block that detective every night? Considering I was blocked night 1 when no one would have had a bead on me as a detective. And then I wasn't blocked night 2. And then I was blocked night 3. And then I wasn't blocked night 4. Maybe they had a bead on another power role and decided to flip-flop, but I doubt it. I really don't think a scum role-blocker was blocking me. I could see a townie doing it who's firing blindly. I could also see scum possibly having outed multiple power roles already, but really why would they not still block the detective consistently or kill him? They out a doctor, the default action is to block the doctor and whack him all on the same night. So they probably didn't have a bead on the Doctor. Yet, they have a bead on me and let me investigate after blocking me? When they've killed not a single dangerous power role. (A lone mason is hardly a threat to scum.) No I don't think scum had a bead on me. I think something else was up.

Am I silly for seeing this as a flaw in town strategy? If you both are town, that is. No, you're silly for saying I "tricked" Nanook into claiming. I did no such thing. In fact, my logic really shouldn't have prompted anyone other than the masons to claim. There was no trickery involved. I stated my opinions. I explained everything. You can look back at my entire post history and see that I've played this thing pretty consistently. But you accuse me of trickery, which is a blatant smudge. That's the main reason I'm faux-voting you. The pings and the non-read are just additional. And as I said earlier I don't have the time now, but, after the New Year, expect me to pore through your entire history.

That was in response to Nanook for claiming. For all he and I knew..you weren't being honest. It was a possibility, and he just out and claimed. If you WERE Scum, you might hope your claim would out a power role. Especially with it being Day 5 and no sign of a protector or an investigator. I wan't accusing you so much as questioning why we had yet another unprovoked claim from Nanook. You're right, I was taking the stance that you might be scum...which, as far as I know, you might be. I saw no benefit for him claiming if you were or weren't, and a BIG disadvantage of claiming if you were lying. That's what I was talking with him about. That's the main reason I'm faux-voting you. Mr Special Ed, I can't help but notice that you've got a heckuva magic bag slung over your left shoulder. Can I have a peek inside, please?I'm not thinking that mitey is lying, but is it still possible that she's wrong? here is her explanation of her power: The bolding, size and color changes are mine. We're assuming that the purple part is in response to her asking about the win condition. Can we be sure that Idle wasn't talking about changing the weather? Maybe she can still change the weather from the grave. Idle was saying that he wasn't answering the first question. Are we convinced? because I'd hate to see another 4 days before we have this win condition again...and then maybe 8 days until it comes around a third time. We could lose by then. He said her power to change the win condition was unconscious. Isn't it possible that it might stop if her unconscious is stopped? Maybe I'm reading it wrong. Idle has succeeded in confusing me several times already this game. But it almost seems as if he's been intentionally vague or misleading.

I doubt it, Ed, since she does have control over the weather changes, just not the WC changes. Therefore, it's very doubtful that "You have no control over it. In fact, even if you die, it will continue to happen from the grave." applies to something she has control over (i.e. weather changes).
And, yes, Idle has been extremely confusing and vague throughout the game, but I don't recall anything he's said that was intentionally misleading.

And, yes, Idle has been extremely confusing and vague throughout the game, but I don't recall anything he's said that was intentionally misleading. I guess, and maybe I'm reading it wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. The last quote she has is this: I read that to mean that even if the weather doesn't change, the win condition does. It's a hidden, unknown, uncontrollable thing, triggered by her unconscious. But it doesn't say it will go on even if she's dead. From what I read before, that could apply to the weather changes. Maybe I'm grasping at straws hoping that we don't have to wait until Day 9 and then Day 13 to have our most favorable win condition. I'm thinking the game won't last until Day 13, so we'll have to win toDay (unlikely) tomorrow by eliminating all PFK (unlikely) or really wait until Day 9 (kill all Scum) or Day 10 (kill all PFK) without losing to the Scum by then.

We've got 14 players left:
2. KidV 3. Total Lost 4. MiteyMouse 5. Zeriel 6. Kat 10. Chucara 13. sinjin 14. Hoopy Frood 15. Almost Human 16. Mr Special Ed 18. misterblockey 21. Cookies 23. Nanook 24. Santo Rugger
We started with 25. We have 1 Scum and 1 PFK dead. We also have 9 dead Town. It seems as if we're getting dangerously close to lynch or lose.
If mmouse was our only PFK, we can assume we had most likely 5 Scum. Which means we'd be at 10-4 right now. With only 1 solid confirmed Mason, but 2 others with uncontested claims so far.
If we had maybe 2 PFK and 4 Scum, we'd be at 10-3-1 add more PFK or Scum, and we're in big trouble.
Assuming a worst case scenario, starting with 4 PFK and 4 Scum, we're at 8-3-3
I'm just thinking out loud. In no way am I trying to claim anything here is accurate or smudge anyone. I'm just trying to spur some conversation.

Totallost, you never answered a question I had for you while we were split up. You said: I asked: If you answered and I missed it, could you point it out please? So sorry - I did see it but just forgot all about it with the underwater-thing and the split My logic (might not be the best - but it all I have) was this: 1) Scum only killed town at Night in this game (not the same as all NKs was made by scum - but all NKs has been town and therefore the NKs made by scum has killed town) 2) This might mean that the scum WC doesn't change (that's why I used the word "assume") or (I could have been more clear on this but I wasn't) that the scum is playing the game as if their WC is "kill town". It really doesn't make a big difference for us if their WC changes, if they keep playing by that one WC all the time.

I don't think there's much to be gained in evaluating the kills. It appears that the killers really are just going after strong players. There's a little WIFOM on Night Four - if I had to guess, I'd say is more likely to be the "strong" player, leaving Ped to be vigged or SK'd.
Regarding the vote counts - I think there's some serious data in there. I'm going to break this down into a couple more posts.

Like Ed, I can't say why your investigation on me failed. By all means be suspicious, if it comes to a lynch, I'll claim, but I think we've had just about enough claims for one day. I understand the reasoning behind Hoopy's claim, but not Nanook's, and I agree that having masons claim now would greatly reduce the hiding pool for scum.. But by all means, discuss amongst yourselves.

I'm thinking as I type here, and assuming that Hoopy and his investigations are legit.
Day One is the good stuff. On the face of it, scum points go to Nanook, AH, Zeriel, and Santo. Minor Town points go to Chucara, Sinjin, Cookies, and Total Lost. It's obviously more nuanced than this, and I hope somebody has the time to examine the timing of some of those critical votes, I won't.
Moving on to Day Two, and then moving past Day Two, there's nothing here on the face of it. Again, examination of the Day in detail would be nice.
Day Three, and there's more goodies here. I'll repeat my request for a detailed breakdown of the timing on the votes, because my memory indicates the voting was closer than the final tally indicates. Nevertheless, Nanook now shows up on two Town lynches while DBI was getting attention, AH loses some scum points (again depending on timing!), while Cookies and Total Lost are looking strongly Town at this point.
Day Four MK absolutely needs to be gone over with a fine toothed comb. AH wasn't the only one giving me bad vibes that Day, and in rebuilding the vote count I think I smelled the smelly smell of manipulation. If nobody else does it first, this will be the first Day I give a detailed look to. The final vote count doesn't tell us much, unless you want to give extremely minor scum points to AH and Santo.
The final vote count for Day Four MW is useless, that train ran away. I thought I saw somebody attempt to derail it early, that could use a peek.
I need to go spend some time on Evil Dead. My next project is going to be to break players down by votes for known scum and votes for known town, and then if I'll have time I'll start digging.

You know, I was rereading both of the threads from yesterday and don't understand the Shaggy lynch still. The only person that came out of the mushroom kingdon looking like town (to me anyways) was TL (I'm not cuddling just saying what I see)...and Shaggy of course. The rest of you I am very confused by.
AH...does your spikey thing have an effect on you? Do you even know if it does? I'm just wondering if this spikey thing is going to turn into a posting restriction of some sort...or going to make her blow up or something.
Another thing that has me wondering a bit is the post that Idle made about not posting PMs anymore. I'll have to look back to see those of us that did quote our PMs as, Idle did say that someone was not telling the truth. I know mine was real and he didn't post until after others posted theirs....I'll have to see who else posted theirs.
