Day 2
Feb 1, 2009 11:53:26 GMT -5
Post by Trepa Mayfield on Feb 1, 2009 11:53:26 GMT -5
As the night wore on, the drinking petered out, all the matches had ended, and people started going to sleep. Eventually everyone had gone to bed. Everyone except for one, that is. Mr. Special Ed had been pacing the mansion ever since midnight, scared for his life, muttering to himself. Let's listen, shall we? "O god, they're gonna get me, they're gonna kill me, they're going to--AAAAAHHHH!" No, he did not get killed. He simply tripped over something--rather, someone. The someone appeared to be, but was not human. The form laying prone had, for example, a tail, a green body, and a long muzzle, which currently had a 6" wooden stake embedded in it. At Ed's yell, most of the group assembled in the hallway, examining Yoshi's remains. His disguise was mostly intact, so it was easy to tell that he had adopted the name of Sachertorte when this whole mess started. However, this hallway was not near Sach's room. Why had he been so far away at night, and where did his loyalties lie? A clue came in the form of a strange thumping emanating from Aubby's room. *THUMP*. *THUMP*. *THUMP*. Crazypunker opened the door, and there stood a massive egg: white, with green spots. From within, Aubby's voice could be heard. "Guys! GUYS! Can you hear me?" "Yeah, we can hear you." said Hal. "Can you break open that egg?" "No! I've been pounding on it for hours, but it hasn't budged. I'm probably stuck in here until...I don't know.", Aubby replied. The group had almost fully gathered. Only Zeriel was still missing. Zeriel's door was laying in the hallway--never a good sign--and inside they found only a bloody mess. He had been torn into so many pieces it was impossible to tell how he died. If he hadn't been killed in his room, It would have been impossible to tell who had died. A quick search found a list of match results, labelled Ganondorf, with the wins circled in blue and the losses Xed out in red. It was clear that Zeriel was a proud smahser, part of the town. It also yielded a cage of mice, each with a tiny red dot on their backs. At this, Kat freaked out. "Eaggh! Mice! Kill it! Kill it!", she shouted. MHaye reached down and killed one with his bare hands. And when he did, the wall behind Zeriel's bed opened, revealing a secret passageway. "So...he kills things...to get to his secret hideout. Weird." And with that, the group went to the gardens to plan out the day. It was a beautiful day outside.
Zeriel, a.k.a. Ganondorf (Town Mason/Daykill Vig) is dead.
Sachertorte, also known as Yoshi (Third Party Mad Bomber/Jailer) is dead.
Due to the unfortunate condition of being trapped in an egg, Aubby is unable to vote until further notice.
Edit for posterity: Originally Mr. Special Ed posted over 150 posts worth of fluff in an effort to get the town to end the day early. These posts were subsequently deleted.

Well, as much as that sucked, it certainly makes today easy.
Vote: 1. Mr. Special Ed (I'll get to the others later)
Now then, even though we've got a softball coming over the plate, let's not forgo otherwise useful discussion.
And on that note, gotta go. A day of Super Bowl festivities awaits!

Well, I did feel that someone on the Roxio bandwagon would be scum, but I wasn't expecting a malicious PFK. Roxio, you were in a pretty deep hole yesterday, I felt I had to do something to defend you!
I'm going to vote #1 (three votes): Special Ed. On the topic of the countdown, don't forget that none of our votes actually count because you have to use all three before any single vote is deemed valid. Which I guess brings up the question: what do we use votes 2 and 3 for? FOS'ing?

Which I guess brings up the question: what do we use votes 2 and 3 for? FOS'ing? It's a good idea to use votes 2 and 3 for the next two people you find suspicious. In a way, it's like FOS'ing, because essentially what you're saying is "I don't feel these two people should be lynched today, but they warrant my suspicion". Obviously Ed is the scum. Well played, since no one suspected you as their #1 vote. I'll be voting you first, obviously, when I figure out who else to place my vote for and when it's closer to the end of the day so as not to start the countdown.

Ok percocet is apparently a deal breaker. I am going to miss the game because flippin kid #4 challenged me to a razr contest. Chicken liver beat me on the hills. The playscape proved to be her undoing. The fact that peek was laid out after missing a safe zone scared the pee out of her.
It's that second hump at the end of the slide that deals us all fits.
The fact that I was on the roof before the wipeout will never be shared with the missus. Seriously, the first fall of about four foot is seriously rocking.

I tend to vote 1 for whom you feel is the best lynch candidate and 2 and 3 for whom may not want lynched now, but in the future if more develops can lead to possibly feel they would be the best lynch candidate. Though to avoid scum from forcing a lynch on some one who may have alot of 2 and 3 votes, but really is not SCUM, if i see they have a few 2 and 3 votes already, then I use a standard FOS, and see whom else I find suspicious for my number 2 and 3 vote. This is just my opinion here and I dunno if it is a good one, but I do find it is easier for back reading and analyzing someone I find suspicious a few days down the road.

Hi all, I'm Natlaw and this will be my second Mafia game. The other is Evil Dead which is still running on the SDMB (and I'm still alive there). I see you already got a 17 page Day One here (less post per page then SDBM luckily). So I'll be busy reading a lot before making a vote, though I get we just lost two masons to find a scum one. I'm new to borda voting, but since I see the warning about starting the Dusk countdown. So does the countdown start on partial votes or is the actual vote count (the one in brackets) used to start it?So go town Smashers! Down with SCUM!

With the two mason candidates on everyone's suspicion lists turning up town (including our killer of Zeriel, provided it's a vig since an SK probably wouldn't care, and I can't see scum outing their own), there's hopefully something in there.

I had meant to post some more last night but it was sort of a rough weekend with the family. Not much time to look back now, but there were a few things that tweaked me in the voting.
One is that I think Mr. Special Ed at one time floated the "maybe we're all innocent" idea. Anyone who went along with that (or if someone besides another Mason said it) deserves a close look.
Finally, I had wanted to mention to Roxis that I was just pulling names trying to make sure people had a vote recorded. Since I only wanted to add a single point to the Mason count I had to put zeriel at #3. Putting you up also gave me the chance to ask the questions I had, but that was sort of incidental. I wasn't trying to choose you specifically. I'm neither suspicious of nor trusting you at this point.
I'm not voting Mr. SE yet since I want to make sure we have a long day of discussion. Although we need it to make up for the loss of two masons the 'sure thing' lynch isn't all that great either since it won't generate much useful.

Only whole votes. And this is really only your second game?! I never would have guessed. I read two or three on the SDBM as lurker, so I had a head start (and quite some time in last Christmas vacation ). Anyway, since it doesn't start the countdown: 1. Triple vote for Mr Special EdAnd since the masons got sorted out rather bloodily, I start by looking at the other things that happened Day One. First roxis' claim: For the record, I currently have Charizard out and was all set to protect tonight, but it looks like I'm going to be lynched. Later (claimed) corrections underlined and I guess the 'figure it out' is also a left over from pede not wanting to tell alignments at first. Mr Special Ed did point out the correction, but later concluded that it was not a scummy as it looked. roxis claimed because she got a lot of votes by saying the trophying could be either a PFK or SCUM option. Later she pushed for Mr Special Ed to post his role PM. I think that thinking aloud and asking questions like that is what town would do, so I'm believe roxis' claim for now (yes, scum tries to play like town when they can). I don't see a good way to test her powers. Maybe redirecting Parzival, but that would mean switching away from protection and trusting Parzival. Since we can't do that at the moment and since it does not prove alignment, it's a bad idea. I'll look at Parzivals claim next, though getting late here now so I'll do it tomorrow. BTW, I'm from the Netherlands, Europe (GMT+1), but I see we got lot of different timezones (I wanted the normal smiley here because I don't like the snowman, so you all get a wink instead ).
