Did anyone else see his new show? The second episode aired Monday. I thought both the pilot and the last one were fucking awesome! I hope it doesn't get canceled, I see great potential. For those of you that don't know about it, here's a spoiler-free summary of the pilot: Fillion stars as Rick Castle, a successful crime thriller novelist who is in a slump. When a serial killer starts copying scenes from his novels, the NYPD asks him to consult on the case to catch the guy. It's written well and has that witty Nathan Fillion feel to it. I am looking forward to next week's episode! Apparently, you can watch the episodes online at ABC's website. The show airs at 10pm eastern on Mondays. --FCOD

ack! I really am not liking it, but I do see the potential. In fact I think everything about it is awesome except the writing which is so terrible I can't get past it. It was better last night than in the pilot, so I have some hope but...I expect it will be on the air for a long time.
What are you thinking of Dollhouse, FCoD?

AH! See, I am liking Dollhouse. Not loving it, but liking it. Friday's episode is supposed to be the first or the episodes that the suits didn't fuck with, so I am looking forward to that.
As for Castle, Monday night was better, but I hate the female detective as written. The dialogue is clunky and cliche, and they can't decide if they want to be a serious show or a goofy sit-com show. All of this was WAY better than in the pilot, but the pilot had my cringing. Also, the cops on Castle suffer from stupid cop syndrome which I hate. For example, they brought in that guy Bret for questioning looking to arrest him without first checking to see if he had a solid alibi? Come on? That's easy! Then there is little stuff like:
So the lady was going to take the laudry out of the dryer and found the body. But there were like 20 other dryers in that laudry room, if they were all full then there had to be other people going down to the laudry room, if they weren't there was no reason for the little old lady to be such a bitch. It would have been easy enough to just say that she saw the body in the dryer (which from the opening shot it is clear she should have) but they wanted to work in the discussion of if it was ok to take someones laudry out of a dryer if it is dry already, because they thought it would be cute/pop culturey/god only knows what.
I am not hating it, but so far I am not loving it.
I am loving him in it though. His family too.

Ok, those are valid complaints. I did not notice the excess number of dryers.
But come on, with dialogue like:
FemaleCop: I'm bla bla, NYPD. Castle: I'm Rick Castle....just NY.
It's got potential!
I agree that the pilot was not as good, but such is the case with every pilot I've ever seen. I mean, the pilot for Arrested Development was so boring I wanted to hang myself, but the rest of the show is amazing.
Hopefully the writers will work out the kinks in the female character.

I totally agree with the potential. And Monday was good enough for me to watch again next week. So if next week is better than last week it might be in good shape.

I keep forgetting it's on, but I'm going to watch them online (hopefully) soon. Nathan Fillion is awesome.
I'm a little disappointed in Dollhouse (I feel like it's lacking the wit/charm and is a much more serious vehicle) but I also really love the storyline and plot. I'm hoping it fleshes out more this week. This episode's been pretty hyped as the first "true" episode, so.

Did anyone watch Ep 6 of Dollhouse yet? I am waiting until my wife get's back into town to watch it and want to know if it was good/better, but don't want spoilers.

I really liked episode 5, even with the beyond-cheesy laser tag scene.

I actually did too. It looks like they are settling in on the tone aspect. Some of the dialogue still makes me cringe...but honestly it was stuff like the laser tag scene that made the episode work for me. So far I am sticking with it.

I watched the first two episodes of Castle this morning. I'm totally hooked. I have little doubt I'll catch up on all the rest tonight, workload permitting.
But I don't think anything would entice me to watch Dollhouse: I'm one of those sorts who hated Buffy and Angel, so I have no doubts about the depths of suckitude Whedon can sink to.

I agree that the dynamic with his daughter is great. But the laser tag scene was CHEESY.

I agree that the dynamic with his daughter is great. But the laser tag scene was CHEESY. But AWESOME! cheese. I liked it because the actors clearly knew what they were doing was over the top cheeseball and ran with it. I am still not sure if the writers knew, but the actors did and they pulled it off.

dammit...I like this show. I don't want to like it, well I do want to like it because I like Nathan Fillion and the guy deserves a show that doesn't get canceled right away, but I do like it and that seems wrong.
