That I once helped write a heavy metal song? I've owned some metal albums in my life, but writing metal songs or lyrics has never really been a big goal. But...things happen. A while back there was a very disturbing story in the news in this area: blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/06/police-id-fathe.htmlI sat down to write a song for other reasons, and ended up being compelled to write some words on that topic. It turned out as poetry with possible lyric potential. Demon Killer
First let me tell you that I ain't alright Just to tell the truth for once in my life
Demons behind me no matter where I turn Can't find a place to hide from the burn
But now it don't matter Last darkness has come A life ripped and tattered And a shot from a gun I say now it don't matter Whatever I've done Whatever I've scattered What I have become
Now let me tell you that I don't give a damn What you think is held in the heart of a man
When they drive by me, they'll see what they see 'Takes one to know one', the devil said to me
Now it don't matter Last darkness has come A life ripped and tattered And a shot from a gun I say now it don't matter Whatever I've done Whatever I've scattered What I have becomeSo I posted the lyrics on the same collaboration site where Shay posts her stuff. One of the very interesting characters on the boards liked the lyrics and asked if he could do something with them. Not long after that, he released his vocals on top of an instrumental track that had also been published on the same site by another musician. www.macjams.com/song/44102The mash up came out quite cohesively. It is as if it was meant to all go together, at least to my ears. He does great on the vocals with some pronunciation and phrasing hiccups as english is his second language. "Tater'd" (which I imagine as being pelted with tater-tots) vs "tattered", etc. Skean (vocals) is from Sweden, and...I can't find any info on the guy who did the instrumentation. It looks like he pulled his stuff off the site. What drama queens those musician types are with respect to their internet haunts.

I don't know what I haven't told you. Umm, nope. I think I am fairly chatty about my life. Probably too chatty really. Nothing really to see here.
Well, my wife is pregnant. Which I am sure some of you know by now because I haven't been good about keeping it quiet. We aren't officially telling people yet because she is still early in the first trimester and the risk of miscarriage is something like 40% until you get to week 12, but I can't not tell anyone.
So. We had a scare about a week ago, but things seem to be fine, we think. Every medical professional we have talked to says not to worry right yet, since we aren't high risk in any way.

Congrats to NAF and Mrs. NAF! As for things I haven't told...um, well I guess related to music. I took an electronic music class in college, and the piece I did for my final was used (along with a couple others' in the class) as background music for a podcast from Antarctica. Not exactly a heavy metal song but I guess it'll do.

I'm sorry. I couldn't understand your post without a link to the song in question.

I'm an amateur rapper known as Lil Scandalous. Very very amateur right now, but my flows are tight, I swear.

It's not exactly a song...it's more of...eh, ambience? I don't know how to describe it. I made it via taking samples of other things and editing them in a music editing program. I remember my classmates and professor said it was the spookiest/most horror-movie-like of the group. Either way, I can't for the life of me find it. It was online, I'm sure of it, but I can't find the webpage anymore and I don't know where my hard copy is on disk.

A lot of my friends through the years have been contra dancers, but I don't know how to interpret the dances. And my dad was a bit of a fencer. It was one of the things he picked up from my grandfather who was a movie stuntman. I currently have 4 old masks and few old foils and sabers and such that I'm supposed to be either selling on eBay or finding a fencing club who might be able to use them as a donation. Anybody else? I know sinjin does some scuba diving, but I don't know what sort of diving she likes to do.

You guys are all so talented. I don't/can't do anything but technical stuff. But I do that stuff well. As Cookies mentioned I'm certified for scuba but I mainly snorkel now. I also have a pilots license but I'm not current anymore, heh, a trend. We sold our plane to buy an airstream last year because we weren't flying it enough. Everyone thinks it's really exotic to have a plane but it's really not. We justified it by having only one car (you can justify anything if you put your mind to it )

Awwww NAF, we have got to be scum buddies someday. And rat's on reread I see I left out the punch line of my post: So, essentially we traded an aluminium tube with wings for one with wheels......well it seemed funny at the time. Seriously though I am totally impressed by the creative talent you all have. If it doesn't come with directions (and I am so nerdy I always read them) I can't do it. Don't even ask me about the one and only time I made a pie. Well ok, I'll tell you anyway. The recipe said roll the pie crust to X inches in diameter. So I rolled it out and it turned out about X + 1" in diameter. How do I know this? I measured it with my retractable metal tape measure. Well X + 1" was clearly wrong, so I rolled the dough back up into a ball and rolled it out again. Twice. Damn pie crust was as tough as shoe leather.
