All this quiet is driving me crazy! If I've converted Danish time correctly, Day ends at 3:00 PM Central time on Thursday and we haven't had much activity at all. I understand that many of you say you hate Day 1 because there isn't much to go on but if we don't post and discuss anything, what are we going to talk about on Day 2? There won't be any substantial posting history to review so won't we be where we are now with the exception of one, maybe two, dead players? And if those dead players didn't post much, then my same question applies: what's to discuss on Day 2?
I suppose just random voting and looking for scum through attrition (dead Townies, most likely) is one way to play but it's so boring. It's more fun when everyone is posting and we can pick apart each other's posts.

The thing is, there's rarely anything to pick apart on Day One. The Town has no information to work with unless someone says something really stupid. It's going to come down to random voting or voting for dumb reasons. Once we have a dead person, we can go analyze that person's posts to see if we can detect a pattern.

I guess that's my point though. If no one is posting, what's to pick apart? For example, you have a vote out there right now for Special Ed. If he actually gets lynched, what will we learn from his posts?

Well, scum are going to want to keep Day 1 quiet and or fluffy. The less they post, the fewer slipups are possible. Special Ed made a pointed remark earlier about how our opinions on lynching lurkers were telling scum that they could stay quiet and pass unnoticed. So I put it to you guys, what can we do to insure that scum have incentive to post without risking lynching newbie town players. Or do you think that this is a solution in search of a problem?

I think another reason scum would want us to be quiet is that it would be more obvious if they were the only ones not participating (assuming, as you indicate, that they don't want to post much for fear of slipping up). At the same time, if we are not talking, we are not doing anything to try to find scum. It seems that many of you have played before and know your strategy so don't really feel a need to discuss so I'm not sure what else we could talk about that might motivate everyone to post. I also think that by not having a lot to go on, we are allowing everyone, including scum, to post baseless votes toDay. So it will be difficult to review Day 1 voting patterns to learn much of anything.

Town-Scum D1 7-2 N1 6-2 D2 5-2 N2 4-2 D3 3-2 Lynch or Lose
So, we've basically got 2 mislynches, provide protections don't exist or fail. Even if protections work, we'll need 2 of them to get to 3 mislynches

Vote: Jaade I liked metallicsquink's reasoning on this. Jaade seems like she's trying to stay under the radar, and I think voting lurkers is a good idea.
My other thought was that FCOD and Special Ed are the mafia and agreed to vote for each other immediately.
And for Sister Cayote: Happy Birthday!

Yeah the preview lies about font sizes.
Anyway, I can do a Jaade vote...I didn't even remember she was playing. At the least maybe it will prod her into some more posts.
Vote: Jaade

My other thought was that FCOD and Special Ed are the mafia and agreed to vote for each other immediately. It's interesting that you say this, texcat, because I thought the same thing. Another reason I was suspicious of FCOD is because he (she?) had not come back to change that first vote. Even though it was random, it was out there for a long time. And basically FCOD is doing what I was accusing Jaade of thinking about: seeing what cases others may have built and vote based on that. As for Jaade, it seems I might have inadvertently started a bandwagon. We'll see how the day progresses, though. Maybe Jaade will come back and find someone else who looks scummy. Again, I just want to reiterate that we seem to set up the Day to allow anyone to get away with these baseless votes which seems a good way for scum to hide.

If Ed and I were scum, why would we want to vote for each other right off the bat? What benefit would it give us?
As far as my vote for Ed, I already thought I had unvoted a while back, which is why I didn't unvote before switching my vote.

Of course, this was earlier in the Day before it became clear that most of the votes today will likely be "me, too" since we don't have much to go on. Plus, if neither of you got any other votes and someone else (from Town) was lynched, you could always say "well, I didn't vote for him/her".

Plus, if neither of you got any other votes and someone else (from Town) was lynched, you could always say "well, I didn't vote for him/her". The problem here is that the scum always have that option. They know who is not scum, so when it seems like a town player is going to be lynched they can easily make up a reason why they think someone else is suspicious and vote for that person. Obviously, that isn't what happened here since Ed and my votes were placed jokingly. --FCOD

Yay. I designed it to show the correct time for the viewer's time zone, but I wanted to make sure I input the correct time on Ulla's end.
