Oh, right, introductions. [/i] REAL NAME: Wade Wilson YOU LOOK LIKE THIS: xrayvision.today.com/files/2009/10/deadpool.jpgALIGNMENT: Town GENERIC: Recruitment Cop WIN CONDITION: All Anti-Registration forces have been neutralized ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BACKGROUND:Of all the many heroes and villains who have graced the comics pages over the years, you are definitely the only one named after a former mediocre Minnesota Vikings quarterback. Always made your career a pain; you'd say, hey, I'm Wade, they'd say, didn't you get benched for Tommy Kramer, and you'd say, I'm not that Wade Wilson, and also, I threw for more than 17,000 yards in an 18-year career, so how about a little respect! Then you'd kill them. Not really. Well, it depends. If they were evil, or annoying, and they mistook you for Wade Wilson, Vikings QB, then you killed them. Anyway, you've been dropped among the crazies again, and this time, they think they're on Ryker's Island. But you know what's really going on: you've played Mafia before. You know the drill. And you're willing to play it straight, except for one thing: you know this was advertised as a recruitment game. And you hate recruitment games, because they punish good play and represent a fundamentally unfair mechanic for the Town and for the recruited player. So if need be, you'll have a talk with the Moderator about it. Not going to let recruitment spoil a perfectly good game of Mafia. Geez! ABILITIES/POWERS:1. You may investigate any player to determine whether he or she has been recruited via the complicated and difficult means of asking the Moderator. You may bother the Moderator once per game Day (not Night, of course; Nights are for fluff. Don't know what this stupid Moderator is thinking) with this question. [slight redaction][/quote] So, you know, all that good stuff. And yeah, I've been asking the moderator, and all y'all have gotten all the information that I've gotten. Though I will note that the Mod Lied To Me, because it says up there in my PM that Nights are for Fluff.

Pre-Nat's claim here is what I was thinking about what I would do were I the GG faced with a choice (Broken by Options):
Town v Scum: Choose Town. Since the existence of the GG was outed (confirmed dusk 1), it would be a safer bet to be town since having a choice is suspicious enough. Not knowing what roles might be out there and whether or not the claimed coroner could reveal role would be enough that I think choosing town would be safer.
Town (or Scum) v 3rd Party Inclusive: Choose 3rd Party, then claim town, work towards town victory, but leave the widest chance to win open.
Town v 3rd Party Exclusive: Choose Town, in an all power game, there are way too many possible pitfalls to choose 3rd Party Exclusive.
Scum v 3rd Party Exclusive: Choose Scum, its easier to win with a team.
So from my perspective, the only time Natlaw would reasonably choose scum, is in a Scum v PFK decision, which his quoted PM did not imply was in the possible choices. Just turn in or go it alone, which reads to me like Town v 3rd Party Inclusive. And maybe if neither of Natlaw or Sister C are lying then we will finally be making some forward progress in this game.
Unvote: Natlaw
Back to my other suspicion:
Nphase, I will restate it: your vote for hawk today looks like you jumping out of the gate hard, then backpedalling just as hard because of a gaffe. It's similiar to your early hard push of peeker on Day 2 then your backpedalling off him once he claimed.
Vote: nphase

So now changing your mind and your vote when you think you've been wrong or think you can afford to wait for confirming information is scummy? Well sign me up as scum in every game I've ever played, then. Including the one where I argued strongly for your innocence on day one after voting you earlier, all on the basis of a vanilla claim and instinct. I couldn't have justified that logically if my life had depended on it. (And we were both vanilla.)
I'm not backpedaling on Hawk, in any case. I still think he's highly suspicious. But we have multiple scum left, we are most likely not at LYLO, and Drain's ability can condemn him if Hal is in fact not a godfather. That's reason enough to wait it out.
Where have you been, Skeez? You usually participate a lot more than this, and I'm not sure the novelty of a having a power role (along with everyone else) can account for it. (The other times I've seen you as town, you've always been vanilla.)

(The other times I've seen you as town, you've always been vanilla.) La La land? I dunno, I can't seem to get my head around this game. I feel like there was a whole lot of this game that I wasn't a part of, I keep wasting a lot of my playing time looking at day one stuff, and I have no reference frames for when things happen or what the actual meanings of things were. I'm starting to get back into my groove. And I'm getting a scum vibe off of you, similar to what I got off drain in the colorless game, that eventually made me look the fool when I backed off of her. This time, however, when I see something that seems off to me, I'm going to hammer on it. Which means you and your voting habits so far this game. Which to put it plainly, look like fishing expeditions to me.

Once luvbwfc died, there was no point in a GG claim, because it couldn't be verified, so I never mentioned it again. I was referring to this quote Day Two, although it is not a pushy as I remembered. It does have a feel of an implied 'GG didn't claim, probably switched, lynch him!', but I might have been oversensitive to that as the GG myself . I was a bit concerned that his [peeker's] action could have closed off some possible options, but realistically the only one he did shut off was the possibility of a vote switch. GG could still have claimed at any time up until Storyteller closed the curtains on the Day. I wish he had done so, as that would mean we had someone else we could be sure were Town on Day 1. The lack of such a claim makes me wonder whether the Goblin planned on switching as soon as he saw luvbwfc's claim. I can see what you mean. I know what I was thinking, but it might be read differently - especially if you are the GG. Sorry for any confusion. I will admit to being suspicious of the lack of claim though - I need to look back at your posts with the knowledge of your claim to see if it's consistent. As far as the Thunderbolts go, I had no idea they existed until I googled them just now. My character's name is on the list of ex-members. I think she'd describe herself as a killer's killer - a true professional in the art of dealing death. Whether she has anything (as a character) against the SHRA I don't know. However, she supports the SHRA in this game because she decided to do so. SHIELD is another matter.

So in about two Days we move to lynch the vote leader or if there is a tie to instant hammer. Inner Sticker (2) - Tom Scud, Sister Coyote Main arguments: Tom Scud: snuggling with know town Total Lost by re-suggesting her mention of a mass claim Sister Coyote: OMGUS Personally his call to kill the low posters last Night and Today pinged me more than the mass claim suggestion, but with knowing the alignment of the living low poster not sure if it's a scum ping. Main argument: not much contribution to actual scum hunt. He since made a post analyzing Hal Briston and voted PCM. I earlier got a vote from Red Skeezix because of voting for a lurker. Since then he switch to nphase without any mention of MHaye's vote. Red Skeexiz: why is that? Main argument: Special Ed/Total Lost: It was PIS when he believed peeker PM because he knew peeker not scum. Drainbead: The above but emphasis on the argument that followed from Ed's accusation about whether scum would have cover roles. And the rushed Hawk vote. Red Skeezix: rushed vote/unvote of peeker Day Two and of Hawk Today. Not really expecting a vote from PCM, but it would be great if Bill and Hawk do it while there is time for claims.

A review of PCM's posts throws up another interesting fact. He never once responded to Hal's vote. He completely ignored it. No response, nothing. It's a fair point, and with the Day approach two weeks, it's possible PCM has gone totally awol. If we assume Natlaw is being truthful, and the GG is pro-town; then the worst case scenario is if scum have recruited, so we will be at 7-4 just now. A mislynch and a successful NK, puts us at 5-4 tomorrow, which is pretty much lylo. At lylo, we can't afford a non-participant. So I think PCM has to go. If PCM is scum, then we push lylo to Day 6, if he is town, then it's the least damaging mislynch - whatever powers he may have, he isn't using them to help town. Vote: PCM

(above, snipped from natlaw)
Mhaye's vote does not appear to be based on PCM's lurking or absence. It appears to me to be a vote based on the possibility of Hal bussing PCM and on PCM's reactions to Hal's vote. MHaye's vote post makes no mention of PCM lurking at all so I don't see the parallel.

I don't particularly like lynching the lurker.
In the early game, it's almost never the right thing to do. The only time I would lynch a lurker in the first two to three Days of a game is if the Mod intended to modkill the player, and a modkill resulted in no reveal of alignment or role.
As the game progresses and you get more information about the active players, you can begin to whittle down the scum in the active pool. Once you're convinced that the remaining active players are all Town, then you can turn your attention to the lurker.
That being said, Red Skeezix has it right; my vote for PCM is not based on the fact that he (PCM) has not posted much, but rather on the analysis of the posts of Hal Briston, a known ARR, and a suspicious interaction between Hal and PCM. It's a coincidence that my vote is on the least active player.

So are we one vote away from hammering PCM at this point? I'm not a huge fan of LtL, but it will have to be done at some point, I think. I'd be okay with dropping the hammer sometime tomorrow, just to give him time to claim just in case. Maybe around lunchtime?

VOTE COUNT (1.28) - 7:55 AM EST
nphase - 2 (drainbead - #13; redskeezix - #92) Mhaye - 2 (Natlaw - #47; nphase - #63) Precambrian Mollusc - 2 (Mhaye - #80; BillMc - #98) Inner Stickler - 2 (tomscud - #30; Sister Coyote - #57) Sister Coyote - 1 (Inner Stickler - #31)
---------
Day Four will end at 8:00AM on Friday, January 29th (unless any player receives six votes before that time). If there is no vote leader at 8:00AM on 1.29, the Day will continue until there is, at which point it will end instantly.[/b]

Today (real life day) it's still six votes to hammer, but tomorrow (Friday 8am (EST?)) the next vote leader gets lynched regardless of number of votes. If the current tie is still there either a hammering third vote or unvotes on all the others in the tie will cause a lynch.
So we are now about 24 hours away from a lynch (if tie is broken) or third vote hammer time (if it is not).

I hope we can come to some sort of consensus vote within the next 16 hours. I really dislike the idea of a single vote hammer that will be handed off if we remain tied, It seems too much like giving the scum a free mislynch.

Subtle reminder . Since no one else commented on it, I thought the fourth wall breaking was a bit odd about Sister Coyote's role PM, but looks like that's just me not being familiar with the comics. Guess who is pictured at TV tropes article about it? Which led me to this quote about the Civil War: "They offered me fifty bucks if I registered, so I took it.". So if hawk votes nphase but drainbead switches PCM we're looking at his lynch Today.

I'm not switching--I was posting from my phone when I posted that and didn't have the ability to back and look at the vote count and threshold rule without a major PITA, so I was confused by Sister Coyote's "Any reason not to bring down the hammer?" post and thought we were one away. I think the cases against PCM are probably the 2nd best of the Day, and if consensus were going that way I'd definitely switch, but for now I'm sticking with nphase.

Any reason not to bring down the hammer? Since we are not and were not anywhere near the hammer, what did you mean by this? Natlaw your vote for MHaye as I read it was primarily based on his low-content posts and lack of scum hunting. And it seemed to me that you selected him as the scummiest from subset of players based on post count. Since MHaye has come in and taken a stand and presenting a reasonable case, have you reconsidered your vote, are you still firmly in favor of lynching MHaye?

His vote for PCM looked odd to me at first but rereading the Hal/PCM interaction, I can see it could be scum-on-scum but also just two players more familiar with each other. I would have expected more of a defense against Hal's weak vote on PCM himself.
I think the case is valid, but it's convenient aimed at a player not around to defend (when pressured for a case). Also no opinion offered by MHaye on the other cases (which is not mandatory of course but would help).
Side note: PCM posted Day Three but that is now two weeks ago. I agree that if we want to lynch him before lynch or lose Today would be a safe bet.
I'll leave my vote on MHaye for today and should be able to check in from work tomorrow before the deadline to reconsider.

Okay, I don't feel confident about it, but I'm going to vote for
Vote: Inner Stickler
PCM has posted so little it is hard to get anything out of it, and the fact that she can't claim/defend herself is a problem. I went over Hal's posts too, and I can see the point, but it isn't enough for me.
Mhaye was more talkative early than he usually is. Usually he hangs back rather than attempt to reveal info in the beginning. This led me to believe he was pro-town and believed that the info was important to get out early.
IS my read was more mixed, and he just seemed to be doing a lot to prove he was a true townie, like stating "Nice shooting whoever smoked Hal"
I'm also bothered by this:
First off he states it is "just for fun" an odd thing to say if you believe it is an effective way to find scum. A more logical statement if you are scum trying to throw people off the scent. The fact that he breaks it up bothers me too. Instead of presenting info neutral and letting people read whatever info out of it they can, he seperates the bottom four to emphasize the conclusion he desires.
The mass claim thing is a possible point too, as it is certainly possible there is some info the scum want. If that is the case it would make sense to have someone present the possibility of a mass claim. Note he doesn't push it, he just presents it as an option, a nice way of shirking any responsibility for it.

Ugh, about an hour to go and little chance Inner Stickler will claim (last post 22 jan, last login 27) before the deadline (or perhaps at all).
Anyone else around? I could switch my vote to PCM to post-pone the deadline (but enable insta-hammer) so you Americans can wake up and chime in.
On the other hand it is a deadline so apparently this is what we want? For the record I didn't want to break the tie last Night to see if/how Hawk would do it. Undecided what it means yet (safe by following Tom Scud, but as mentioned IS's kill the lurker call pinged me as well).
