Conspiracy has now wrapped. Given that: (1) folks have been enthusiastic; and (2) that I am stuck at home following an emergency appendectomy earlier this week with nothing to do, I am going to kick off Arkham 2. This thread will begin with the rules. After posting the rules, I will begin sending role PMs. I will do this until the pain medication kicks in, after which I'll go to bed and finish distributing roles in the morning.
Please confirm receipt of your role PM either in this thread or by return PM to me
Once I have administrator powers, I will post Night Zero and the game will formally begin; in the meanwhile, if anyone wants to talk strategy-type stuff in this thread, feel free to do so - there are no post restrictions of any kind, beginning now.

The Rules Below you will find the basic rules of the game. Some are familiar, and some represent modest departures from usual practice; please read them carefully, and feel free to ask if anything is unclear.PLEASE NOTE: Given the rather elaborate setup, the following disclaimer is placed: anything directly stated by the moderator in public color may be assumed to be 100% accurate. Anything stated in a private message will always be accurate except where specifically unreliable powers are involved (for example, in the case of a hypothetical generic Cop investigating a hypothetical generic Godfather, not that either of those roles do or do not exist here ;D). 1. The Set-UpThis is a closed set-up. It may, or may not, be a no-vanilla set-up. Some roles may or may not initially appear to be vanilla but have hidden or unlockable abilities/quirks. At any given time, each role will have one of four different alignments, as follows: Town Players all have the following win condition: "All Scum and PFK (if any) are neutralized."
Scum Players all have the following win condition: "Scum control the voting and all malicious third parties (PFK) are neutralized."
Third Party Players are players that are neither Town- nor Scum-aligned but are not a threat to the win condition of either side; the specifics of each win condition may vary, but third party players can win along with either Town or Scum.
PFK Players are players that are neither Town nor Scum and ARE a threat to the win condition of either side. A PFK player may or may not be able to win alongside some third party players, but if a PFK player wins, then all Town and Scum players do not. The terminology above will be used consistently throughout all role and other PMs and in-game color, including role reveals. In cases where the entire subset of players who are not Town or Scum is intended, the phrase “Third Party/PFK” will be used. All roles will also be identified by a “generic” term, which will be one of the following: Vanilla (no known powers at the outset); Investigative (roles that gather information); Protective (roles that prevent deaths); Killing (roles that kill); Alignment-Based (roles, such as Masons, whose powers are related to alignment or the reveal thereof); and Special (all other roles, including roles combining two or more of the other categories. 2. PostingThere are no post restrictions. As long as you are alive, you may post whatever you like, wherever you like, whenever you like. You may quote your role PM, and any PM sent to you by the moderators. You may discuss strategy by Day or by Night. If you have access to outside boards, you may post to them on any subject at any time. If someone claims a post restriction of any kind, they are lying; lynch them. PLEASE NOTE: You are also permitted to edit your posts. Other players may frown upon a choice to do so, but the Moderator will not intervene in any case of post editing.3. RecruitmentThere are various methods, not to be disclosed, by which the alignment of certain players may change. However, all alignment changes in this game will be strictly voluntary; no player will ever be forced to change alignment under any circumstances. 4. Day/Night CycleIn most cases, a Day will last five real-life days (beginning on Saturday afternoons and ending on Thursday afternoon), and the Night will last two real-life days. There is no in-game method of extending or shortening any Day or Night. Days or Nights may be extended or shortened at the discretion of the moderator to account for out-of-game or meta-game situations (holidays, board outages, etc). 5. Voting and the LynchVoting will be done using blue text. Bold-facing and separating onto an individual line are preferred for moderator convenience, but not required. Only votes in blue will count. It is permitted to vote “no lynch” should that appear to be the best plan. Unvoting will use red text. Only one active vote is permitted at any one time per player. If a player places a blue text vote and subsequently places another without unvoting the original player, the original vote will continue to count until it is removed. The player with the highest number of votes at the lynch deadline will be lynched (if “no lynch” has received more votes than any player, no lynch will occur). In the event of a tie, the player who was first to reach the vote number at which the tie occurred for the last time will be lynched. So if Catinasuit reaches five votes, then goes up to six votes, and then Hoopy Frood reaches five votes, and THEN someone unvotes Catinasuit – Hoopy Frood, who reached five votes for the last time first, will be lynched. This is admittedly arbitrary; avoid ties. 6. PowersThere may be Day powers and/or Night powers. All powers resolve at Dawn or Dusk, according to a pre-established order of events. If you anticipate absence during a given Day or Night, it is permitted to submit actions in advance, which may be changed at any time prior to the deadline. 7. ParticipationThere will be no hard and fast rules regarding participation, except this one: please participate. The moderator will determine the adequacy of each player’s participation in a context-sensitive fashion, and will issue warnings, prompts, and removals as necessary. All discussion about a player’s participation level will take place in private; the moderator will not discuss participation, prods, or potential modkills in the game thread under any circumstances. Broadly speaking, all moderator action, notably modkill, is subject to the discretion of the moderator. NOTE: There will be no voting requirement whatsoever. As long as you’re posting substantively, you don’t have to vote at all, ever, as far as the moderator is concerned.

Your avatar seems apt, if you had a DIY appendectomy. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I have to admit that I laughed quite a bit at the clear-cut distinction between PFK and Third-Party Non-Malicious.

yeps and peps. locked, loaded and ready to roll.
vote srbrown (or what the fuck ever)
couple of things. first, we have to get the obligatory newbie vote out of the way.
second, wanna see how the disconnect between color and instructions is handled by a drug hazed og.
third, just because.

However, chinchillas are the ultimate rodents. One swirl thru the chinch-o-matic results in both a nice bit of chinch hide and a tasty protein energy drink. In other news got my role pm.

Got my role PM, too, and I'll probably have more to say tomorrow or whenever the game officially starts. Rysto, was that link intended as a roleclaim? Oh, and a question for the moderator: Does this mean "can choose death instead of recruitment", or some other similar consequence, or does it mean that a recruitee can just completely ignore the recruitment attempt?

Also, a question: Did you intend to put PFK in green and 3rd Party in purple? I always thought the convention was the other way around.

I have read and understands my PM. Looking forward to this game begins. I need my mafia-kick Also - I'm one of the players that don't like editing. So if anyone edits, I would hope it for a very good reason since NETA seems to do the work for the rest of us. And meesed up coding can be fixed in other ways

i've received my PM. do i have to read it too? it's a throwback from the Alice in Wonderland game. a mod can give game-themed titles for the players. apparently no mod changed them since Sister Coyote last changed them. Rysto, Cookies and Total, i've read your past games but never had the pleasure of playing with you. i look forward to it. (i said the same when peeker returned. kinda regretting that. )
