Day 3 0615: Dawn Post
As dusk fell, the temperature had fallen precipitously. Many of the remaining residents had attempted to sneak out of their rooms for their own mysterious purposes, but their doors had all been frozen shut. The only sound heard all night long was a deep throaty laugh of a single man, walking up and down the halls, spreading a strange, chilling substance everywhere. Mr. Freeze laid down the BIG FREEZE! With the morning sun came warmth once again, and the inmates could finally open their cell doors. storyteller0910 and Drain Bead cracked open the front doors to let a warming breeze in, revealing a shark lying on the front doorstep. It was frozen solid. NAF1138 shrieked, and leapt back into the electric chair. disturbing the delicately crafted snowman that had been built on it. The old machine shivered and cracked in half: Tonight, the Town's brand of justice would have to be executed in some new strange manner. Even after sweeping the main hall from ice and snow, no bodies were found. With the exceptions of poor, lamented, atarus, and the less lamented CatinaSuit, the town's population was the same as the prior morning.
Day III Begins NOW! You have until Dusk, which will occur at 9pm on Friday.
No Night Actions Occurred Last Night due to the Blizzard.

I probably won't shouldn't be around much for the next week. The end of term is approaching and I have a bunch of assignments.
So, what does everybody think about the Joker? I'm totally confused as to whether he's a Vig or Playing for Keeps. Is it even clear that it was the Joker who made the Day Kill? Here's the colour for Cat's death:
The "grin that would not end in death" would seem to suggest the Joker, but the rest of it leaves me mystified. Perhaps one of our resident Bat Geeks can clarify?
It would seem that Hoopy was not lying about being Mr. Freeze and having a special one-shot ability. I can't work out if the one-shot ability was pro-Town or pro-Scum, though. On the plus side, no night kills. On the minus side, our investigators also couldn't do anything, and there might have been other useful roles that I can't think of that were also blocked.
NAF, any idea if you still have to worry about sharks?

My only other thought was The Penguin - but the " precise but mad hand." bit doesn't fit. The Penguin is a buisnessman, not a nut.

My initial thoughts are that CatinaSuit's death was definitely the work of the Joker (and Koldanar's on Day 1). It still leaves open Jokers alignment. He could be a pro-town vig, or he could be another SK or someone playing for keeps trying to set up a bit of cred for a later claim with the kill saying - "See I am a vig and took care of the false vig claim!"
Another thing to consider is CatinaSuit's supposed Role PM. It says there is only one SK. A bit of truth? I.e. Cat was it and he tweaked it just a bit so as not to incriminate himself, or a carefully planned change by Cat to cover for a partner in crime?

Do two SKs even make sense? Usually, an SK wins(and everyone else loses) if anybody else reaches their win condition and they're still alive. What would happen if there were two SKs and somebody reached their win condition? Both SKs win? Everybody loses? Game continues until one or both SKs are dead?
I would guess that either the Joker's a Vig or the Joker has a traditional scum win condition. The latter would seem to imply that the Joker has a group(because forcing a single player to outnumber everybody else would be ridiculously unfair).
Short of him being confirmed as Town by an investigative role, I don't see how we could trust anybody if they claimed to be the Joker.

Waking up at midnight with a hangover is... interesting. I think not having any investigations is better than waking up to dead townies, though.
story, to respond to something you said right before the day ended that's been gnawing at me all weekend, I'm sorry if I seem opportunistic. In retrospect, you're totally right and I can't argue the point at all. One might think I'm flinging poo to see what sticks, while another might say that I'm trying to look at every logic presented to try to find the positive and/or negative points about it. I personally think it encourages conversation, and gets people to explain what they're saying moreso than if they just spout an idea, controversial or not, without getting called on their logic. I'm glad you pointed it out, though, because I've probably been a bit over the top with it, but I'm just trying to figure out what the heck is going on with this setup. The other downside to not having any Night actions occur last Night is that it'll take us another Cycle to get info on the setup, but I'm still going to put HF in my "Most Likely Baddie" column for now.

"Cool party!"I wouldn't rule out two SK's in this game - despite CIAS's PM, given how weird it's been so far (not to mention we know that CIAS modified it, so in my opinion it is risky to assume anything in it is truthful). Or the Joker could be the pro-town vig... meh... this game gives me nightmares sometimes. Win condition wise, if there are two of them, they probably just have to kill each other. The Joker, for his part, seems to be leaving obvious marks, which I assume is his style.

Essentially what's happened is that we've gotten an extra lynch and an extra Day Kill. So I'm doubtful that Hoopy is a Do-Gooder, because as you point out, the block probably hurt the Do-Gooders more than it hurt the Town. But he could be Playing For Keeps with the Joker.

Among the potential scum, only somebody aligned with the Joker would seem to benefit from blocking all night actions.
I didn't necessarily mean that in the sense that the extra Day kill was good for us.

So...
Only an icy morning to wake up to?
Not that I'm complaining, but for a game that was supposed to be a bloodbath, the deaths so far have been coming in neat little Day pairs that don't necessarily reveal much new intel overNight.
Looking back at how yesterDay went down with the Cat vs Atarus bruhaha, I have been kicking myself since the death posts. Part of my brain was obviously fixated on how scummy Cat was acting. Reading back through my posts I sound more like someone with a vote on him than not, except for the posts where I explain how/why I refused to vote for him. *headsmack* I was getting frustrated with his choices of play because it seemed like he was digging his own grave. Why I was so insistant on the possibility that he was innocent at best and comparatively harmless at worst...I suppose the PFK risks (I was more confident that he was "other than scum" than anything else) just seemed much lower than the Do-Gooder risks, and I wanted to keep catching and frying bigger fish. And there was a dash of a bit of circular reasoning I suppose as well. I'm academically curious as to how much of an impact NAF and I had on using the other's votes to justify our own.

You're not the only one Cookies. I said very early in the game I wasn't going to let name claims sway me, but there was Cat, and despite some suspicions I wasn't ready to vote for him, I suppose not wanting to kill a possible vig, even though after claimed he would have only been a vanilla townie.

Looking at who made Atarus ride the electric slide is on my agenda toDay. His mistake was so minor and all the circumstantial evidence against CiAS added up to more IMHO. Yet Atarus was led by a bandwagon to his demise. Scum knew Atarus was town and wanted him dead for that. So it's very likely scum are in this group. First to confirm it, yes the Big Freeze was my one shot. I figured I'd use it now, because it's unlikely I'll live long, and it buys the town and extra day of discussion with no worry about scum taking anyone out. I also made RoOsh's job easy this time. I'm not happy about that part. Another thing to consider is CatinaSuit's supposed Role PM. It says there is only one SK. A bit of truth? I.e. Cat was it and he tweaked it just a bit so as not to incriminate himself, or a carefully planned change by Cat to cover for a partner in crime? My theory is that CAIS screwed up. He was so intent on editing his PM to change "Serial Killer" to "Vigilante" and to add the "loss of powers" thing that he forgot to remove the sentence that mentioned that he was the only serial killer. I'm still kicking myself for noticing the sentence but not realizing that although he could justify why it slipped his mind on Day 2, how would he justify not revealing the info on Day 1? Part of it was I was under the impression that an SK was always a day kill, based on Wiki, but thinking about it, that's bad reasoning since the mods can easily change anything they want. At least it's safe to say that Joker wasn't working with Hush, but whether he's on Town's side or PFK, is hard to tell. If he's vig, it's smart to take out a false vig without having to claim. If he's PFK, it's smart for him to take out the competition. Yesterday, I was pretty sure he was PFK with his killing of Koldanar. Today, I'm not so sure. One thing to note, however, is that Joker has now taken out two people who have voted for that respective day's lynchee. This may be a restriction of his power or just him choosing someone on the lynch bandwagon the first day and someone on the bandwagon who clearly seems suspicious on the second day. Only he knows, and I doubt he'll tell us at this point. Now, I don't know how many of you are still gunning for me after yesterDay's end, but I know many of you discount the chance of two pro-town role-blockers, and many of you all but said I was next if Atarus turned out to be town. Atarus himself was of the opinion that I probably was town. Heck, if the situation was reversed and one of you were in my situation, I might be one of those calling for a lynch, so I can't really blame anyone. What you guys decide on this is out of my hands. I've laid all my cards on the table, and played my hole card last night. So at this point, I'm not all that useful to the town. Up until the Joker took out CAIS at dusk, I had decided on Friday that at the beginning of toDay I would offer myself up as the guinea pig in the little idea I came up with yesterday about an early lynch. (See post here: psychopathgame.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=tempy&action=display&thread=299&page=8#19842)At that time I was certain that Joker was PFK SK. I figured we might be able to prevent a day kill with an early lynch if the daykill mechanic was tied to a day being played full out. I'm still willing to try this, but seeing as how it's possible Joker is vig, Joker might not choose to kill anyway. Originally I was thinking that if we lynch early and there is no kill, either we truly stopped Joker or Joker wanted us to think we stopped him. Regardless, we stop a day kill. For Joker to try and fool us this way would have been risky because he would slow down his progress towards a win. But since we know there's likely only one SK, Joker has some other reason for killing that we don't know, so it's quite possible that the early lynch has no mechanic tied to it. (I doubt CAIS would have intentionally added the "one SK" part to throw the town off, because he has everything to lose if someone figures out the significance of that being in his PM, and nothing to gain since there's no reason to trick town should he die. He has no vested interest in either scum or town winning.) So really, it's up to you guys what you want to do with this. At this point, about the only thing I do know is that I really don't have a clue what's going on.

If [the Joker]'s PFK, it's smart for him to take out the competition. Looks like I was working under a bad assumption....that Joker would look at CIAS as "competition" is an angle I hadn't thought of. I figured that Joker was part of a PFK team, but that idea was dealt an obvious blow when he killed CIAS. It didn't occur to me that "Playing For Keeps" would be referring to several individuals, working independently and in competition with each other (and the rest of us). Well, I suppose "Us against Him and Him and Him and Him" is better than "Us against An Organized Them". Maybe.

I believe you are who you say you are Hoopy. Your special power just screams pro-town. I wonder if Roosh and Dio put multiple pro-town role blockers to confuse us, or just weren't paying attention. Perhaps, there are just that many killers out there.
I'm going to start today by putting my focus back on Ryjae. His "wiki" vote from yesterday bothers me.

How the hell can that bother you? (5 for 5 with Hoopy) I had some extra knowledge but that doesn't change the fact that focusing on a another town isn't helping you find scum. Partial disclosure. I get snippets of information once a daY and once a niGht. I can sorta target them, can't explain more or my odds go down (as in if my method is exposed the chance of my reading anything drops per my role/abilities section ) . YesterDay I got this niGht before I got this I couldn't read anything first daY. Last niGht I didn't get anything probably because of the freeze. But what's relevant is the wiki color so far. Did they throw wrenches in, I imagine they did. But 5 for 5 is a lot better than any other odds we have. You want to target me because I was right? Something wrong with that.

Damnit it's 4 for 4 based on wiki color. While I don't want to speak for hawkeyeop, I'm guessing his issue stems from the fact that once this game is over, we'll probably be 24 for 24 based on wiki color. Fact is, every wiki page I've looked at can be used to build a case putting a player on either side.

MHaye,Brewha,storyteller,TheDarkSmurf,Rysto,NAF1138,Hoopy Frood,Cookies,Hal Briston,HockeyMonkey Both you and Darth Sensitive have said some variation on this, and I'd like to point out that your reasoning is flawed. The scum didn't know any more about atarus then they did about CatinaSuit; Cat's color indicates that he was a Serial Killer. All the scum knew yesterDay was that they had two non-scum on the bandwagon. I know it's self-serving to say this, since I voted for atarus, but the fact that a player voted for atarus over Cat is not, in and of itself, a meaningful indicator of scum status. Other than that, though, I don't know what to think. Hoopy Frood is probably Town; other than that I got nothing.

Fact is, every wiki page I've looked at can be used to build a case putting a player on either side. While I agree they can be twisted to fit either side. The main "juicy" part seems to stick to canon so far. Hush being against everyone to get to the bat, that was who Hush was period that one was as plain as day. Others may not be as clear cut, but it is certainly something we can base suspicions on. Atarus's mistake was even less suspicious so to me it makes complete sense to use it as a guide(wiki canon), not a fact book. And you're right story and not just to clear yourself, but you're right. Scum would have known neither CiAS or Atarus where scum so they could have voted either way, happy in knowing they where not voting for one of themselves. My reasoning was flawed with that initial post, and I retract it. So everyone goes back in the potential scum pool. Not just those who voted for Atarus.

Once again, have you read Firefly yet? Yes it was interesting. And I might add, totally and completely irrelevant to this game. *bangs head against wall again and again and again and again* That's the problem isn't it? You all think because another game did this or that or another thing you can be safe in assuming this game will follow some path. Try this, forget M1 M2 Pirates, Firefly, and everything else. And look at it from fresh new eyes as it's a new game. So far we know from the confirmed roles (dead people) that it is following the wiki color for the most part entirely. So that is good information will it forever and always? No clue but it is something we can use! Denying that, then you have some knowledge I do not have, as in your role/wiki do not match well. While we're here, answer me this. Does your role follow the juicy part of the wiki color? By juicy I'm saying that if your Joe Baddie and one time Joe Baddie helped the bat but every other time he is against the bat the juicy part is the majority.
