Meh. While I am disappointed in starirain's lack of content, I don't really find the post in question all that scummy... For me, suspicion of starrirain isn't for the one (and only) post itself, but for then running away never to post again. It seems like something a scared newbie scum would do. But I think she's only somewhat likely to be Scum. Better would be to go after one of the Pleo voters; I'm just not sure Meeko is the best choice in that group. BTW, her name is starrirain with 3 r's. (I don't want to be picky ... but I don't want players to be able to hide from searches via misspellings! )

Aren't the votes on me more opportunistic than my vote on Pleonast?
I'm willing to bet that, in general, the newer players make up some of the scum team. Further, some of those newer scum players are voting against me, if not bandwaggoning. [Is that a word?]
That is to say, I think the accumulation of votes, most little more than "Me Too!" , if not opportunistic and reasonless, would exist on an established player, by newer players.
Again, I'm not sure how to mine the votes though. I'm not sure how to sift through the wagon that is / was on me.
Multiple ways to spin it, but Town, I believe as the game progresses, Motivations found through Walls of Words will be our best bet. The lump in the oatmeal here, is that it will come at a great cost in the body count.
I would like to think that my reactionary stance to the newer players being simply that, is over with...... But I would not think that the game is done with overreactions itself [coming from other players.] I don't know if a game that welcomes so many new players can go any more smoothly than this.

Guys, I had a little accident and now I am heading to the hospital. The injury looks really bad as I suspect that I have a torn ligament or a dislocation or something like that, but otherwise I am ok. Don't worry. Just not sure if I will be available for today and tomorrow. I have voted and I think I have voiced what I have thought so far, so I guess it should be ok if I can't be back for the rest of the Day 1. Have fun. Feel better soon. Aren't the votes on me more opportunistic than my vote on Pleonast? I don't see the case on you, particularly, but I really don't see a case on Pleo at this point. However, given that Pleo did what Pleo always does, and given that you voted him for doing as he does which is, effectively a null tell (or, to use Gad's language, "role neutral"), I would be more inclined to vote you than to let Pleo go down, swinging or otherwise.

I am going to vote for starrirain
My reasons for doing so are that being new to the game I am having to heavily rely on players who have more experience. Since I don't know how a newbie scum player is likely to behave, I agree that disappearance after posting a potentially scummy message is a sign of fear. I could be wrong but the clock is ticking and until day 1 is over, we aren't going to know better.

Can someone please tell me how to vote in blue, as I haven't figured this out from either Idle Thoughts' set of rule as or from a PM direct about how to write in blue. I wouldn't want to be going against game-play etiquette again. Ta x

Wow, my eyes are starting to dry out. I've been reading and re-reading, trying to separate emotion from fact, suspicion from paranoia. I now "get" WIFOM, as my head is starting to hurt from too much wine. The weekend is starting: I'm voting now so I can enjoy the sunshine, and I'm going with my initial, gut reaction. Vote: dizzymrslizzy I'm not certain why she first struck me as scummy, but her maneuvering since that time has only served to intensify my feeling. I interpreted her actions thus: 1, she was playing the game of mafia and made an early vote; 2, then she changed her mind and picked a bandwagon; 3, when pressured, she backed off and unvoted; 4, I wondered if her hurt feelings were a ploy; 5, her posts are alternately aggressive and overly friendly, which make me question her motivations. In my mind, only a scummy player would feel the need to do damage control to this extent. Whew.

P.S. My husband told me to quit wasting time, and my son said he needs the computer for homework. *sigh* I will check in tonight or tomorrow before sundown.

I have now read/skimmed/crammed through 20 pages, and there was just something about a giggling townie that got me ...went through some others first..starrirain..but now that seems like jumping on a bandwagon. dizzymrslizzy...now there would be my second vote had I a second vote. Just a little this side of slick. But it was the three posts and the giggle that got to me. Vote:oldred

So at this point, who can I vote for today without looking like a total scumbag.... If I vote Pleo - I'm scum looking to lynch the possible claim Town Role If I vote Starrirain then I look like scum for voting for the second person people are bandwagoning on. If I vote a whole slew of other players it's an OMGFU or whatever vote. I feel like I'm backed in a corner here and I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't, and I need to make a decision quick because I have a busy weekend (being a new Mom and all). And um cathi, if you read everything didn't you see me be personnally attacked multiple times? How do you stand by and not say anything about your character?

If you go back and look at, what you might be taking as a personal attack might just be another player being frustrated. I'm going back and re-reading for the umteeth time again...but yes I took most of what was said yesterday as personal. I walked away with a very bad taste in my mouth. But I honestly don't feel I can make any vote that will do anything but corral more votes against me. And here all I was doing was just trying to figure out what the heck was going on, and trying to learn how to play this game.

Even after years of playing, I still have my moments. Had one very recently in fact. However, in reality, we';re all probably really nice people, but the game causes us to call people liars, not trust them, get paranoid, etc. Those are all personal emotions, and while we can usually separate the game from our real emotions, sometimes it is difficult. PS, I found a great picture: weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/why-because-fuck-you-thats-why.jpg

Seems like we should be hunting multiple suspects other than just one...or am I wrong? While I appreciate your helpfulness Gadarene, I must admit to being a lil bit suspicious because of the fact you're trying so hard to get everyone on my bandwagon because of one silly noob post. I would love to see that list of 4 or 5 others you see as suspicious other than myself, it's great to see postings from the older players to help get the feel of the game and the mafia mindset I've been reading a lot to see how to play and how others play, so trial and error for me for the time being I suppose. I admit I should have posted some insight as to the scumminess I suspect to be going on, but at that time I wanted to kinda scope things out, and didn't realize what a mistake it was to post something so vague. My post simply meant that I already saw things that pinged me. I do not know who any scum are for sure, but the whole point is to be suspicious of others right? But if my lynching will save our town power role (Pleo, please be town rofl <crosses fingers>) then I will take that mislynch for the sake of the town, no hard feelings guys I see many of you say it's more than common to lynch a townie on Day1, so better a vanilla than someone with a useful power. We can always watch Pleo in the days to come for those of us who are still suspicious regardless. I'm willing to take the risk for the time being. I can't help but be more suspicious of Meeko in the case of the two (Meeko and Pleo) after the fit he threw ...was it a scummy distraction to get us sidetracked from our hunt? Not that I'm not also suspicious of Pleo, but for someone to be so defensive for getting so many votes....I mean, I'm seeing a bandwagon against me here, but I say meh, hopefully you experienced players know what you're doing and aren't all just scum trying to get rid of me. I don't feel personally attacked, which also makes me suspicious of dizzymrslizzy. Is this a noob getting upset over being called out on their scumminess? Please don't be upset, but your behaviour from early in the Day seems off, not just to me, but to a few. Mine does too, apparently so we are in the same boat there. oldred also had some very suspicious postings imho (ty Ed for pointing those out) while I totally agree with his statement that there are more than likely some old players who are scum trying to mislead us. Also on my radar have been CIAS and BillMc for their early votes with practically nothing to go on, although I finally got to posts where CIAS came back to explain. BillMc however has not. Also the post editing I've seen later on in day one, after seeing SEVERAL times in many places rules on editing. Just rubs me wrong. So, my vote for now goes to Vote: dizzymrslizzy

Thanks Starrirain, for giving me the out Vote: Starrirain Reasons: 1- Your first AND last post really rubbed me the wrong way. You are adding to your case. 2- You're jumping on a bandwagon started by a combination of a dumbass Random.org encounter that annoyed me as well as my defending my decisions. 3- OMGFUUS! I'm not the only person that post edited. There was no content edited, and I misunderstood. And for the record- I am going to bed in a few short minutes.....I will be out of the house all day tomorrow and won't get a chance to reply to any of this. Good luck to you all, but you are making a really poor decision here.
