In this particular game, is it possible for one player to have two roles (aside from players who have died and come back in someone else's roles). I mean two roles simultaneously?

O.M.G. that S. Have to say, I didn't see the michellehunter twist coming. OUCH. My notes for toNight: 1. @ texcat, do you have a history with guiri? Why does he keep voting you? Or do people think he's another Detective? 2. I had assumed that Silver Jan was a Mason because of the Silver Jan/silverjan & LightFoot/lightfoot thing. To have her confirm it (?) and Mahaloth back her up is interesting.... Do we believe them? I know Gadarene & Mahaloth tried to minimize the interest in the screen name issue. That being said, I do NOT think we should NK either of them. This will PREVENT either of them from becoming confirmed Town and may throw a little suspicion their way. 3. I wondered about aleetha; she confirmed on D0 with "got a role" (bolding mine). Does she have an actual role or was that just an unfortunate wording that I'm reading into waaaay too much? 4. We scum know for almost certain that there is 1 Vig & 2 Crazy Townies. And-- 5. We need to kill the Vig. S/he's really good. Or Idle's killing us himself. Thoughts? I suspected Kagemoto first. I now suspect colby11. More thoughts on that soon, I'm going to pull all the quotes and add in my process. Meanwhile, OUCH.

Nope. Every player just has one role*
*It is possible for there to be secret roles, though...but that's rare. Like sometimes there's a scum who doesn't know he's a scum. And the lovers usually don't know they're lovers (the lover role is a role that if one dies, so does the other, automatically). Sometimes there's another scum (or Mason) who knows they're a mason (or scum) but don't know who the rest of their team is...
but none of those cases are in this game.

It might be time to kill him. I'm actually glad that we didn't hit him before because it appears Septimus1.0 was protecting him. What are the chances that Septimus2.0 is also a Doc? 2. I totally believe the Jan/Mahaloth claim of mason. I wonder who the other two are? I had originally thought Special Ed might be, because of Gad's comment about hoping that they were on the same team. But it was mostly Archangel(Ed's replacement) who forced Jan out into the open, so I don't think she's a mason. 3. Good catch on aleetha. She'd make a good target tonight. 4. It's still possible that we have 2 vig's and that one of the Doc's has been accurate. Or that one of the vig's is AWOL and has not been submitting targets. 5. Surely the vig can't continue with this accuracy. I'd really like to kill the remaining Doctors. Until then we won't be able to target Hal, who also has had amazing accuracy. When the day first started, I saw that we had a mason and a doctor and was THRILLED. But then saw Hal's post was was NOT. I think we've also had pretty good luck so far. We haven't run into a protected target yet and we've hit a lot of roles.

Btw, just so we're all forewarned: Idle's 2nd to last vote count had HAL voting for annem by mistake; since Hal's a practically confirmed Detective, this could be bad. Idle has deleted it, but who knows who saw it?

if Mahaloth and SilverJan are masons, and Hal is a detective, and there's still at least one doctor and one vig/crazy and possibly more masons, there are quite a few power roles left. I'm surprised we've gotten so many so far, but hopefully we can knock out at least one tonight.
I think we should knock off either SilverJan or Mahaloth, but not both. I lean toward Mahaloth - he seems to be better at this, IMO. Of course, I'm one of the frontrunners who accused SilverJan yesterDay, so I'm not sure how/if that should factor into NKing her, either.
I couldn't get much going on Meeko yesterDay, but as soon as I can, I'm gonna. unless we want to consider him as a NK.
otherwise, I'm not sure what to think at this time. Experienced folks: should we just start trying for Hal every night until a doctor moves his protection? or how can we get rid of that guy?

Btw, just so we're all forewarned: Idle's 2nd to last vote count had HAL voting for annem by mistake; since Hal's a practically confirmed Detective, this could be bad. Idle has deleted it, but who knows who saw it? There were a couple of vote counts showing me with two votes but three voters. Hal's only had two nights to investigate thus far, and revealed the results of those, so can't be assumed to have known, as Detective, anything about me during Day 3, right? Or can Detectives investigate more than one person in a night?

I don't think we should go after Hal or Mahaloth or Jan. They are likely protected and losing a night kill is not a good thing.
Gad has had votes from Meeko and jerilijah. So I would guess that they are not masons. Silver Jan has hasn't had any final votes, but I need to look to see who she's had suspicions from. Mahaloth has been almost invisible. I don't remember anyone expressing any suspicion of him, except for maybe Pleo. Not a lot of clues there who the other masons are. I need to re-read about Jan and see who supported her, maybe we can find another mason there.

Can the Masons talk at Night or Day?

Post by Rich Beckman on May 24, 2012 21:32:28 GMT -5
I do not understand how the Masons are a threat. Detectives and Vigs are the problem. Doctors are a problem in that they prevent the killing of Detectives and Vigs.
We should be targeting those three.
For my first vote:
Vote: Guiri

The masons are not a threat, but they will never be lynch targets; we will have to kill them. Vigs are not usually so much of a problem. I'm not sure how the vig has gotten so lucky. I remember one game where the vig was voted for MVP on the scum side because he killed so many townies. I'd love to hit another Doc tonight. What did yall think about Sepitmus2.0 post on who the Doc's should protect by rolling the dice? I wonder if he wouldn't make a good target again?

Okay, here's my case for colby11 (mostly). I look forward to seeing who sees what I see and who falls over laughing at my grasping at straws. I think that our detectives are going to be our greatest asset, along with the masons.
I wouldn't be surprised if we have 4 or 5 doctors and detectives, maybe 5 to 6 masons, and probably at least 8 on the scum side. I hope there will be at least 1 vigilante (a town player who can kill at night) just to even the odds. Though that seems a bit imbalanced to me in Town's favor... First he wants a Vig to even the odds; then he thinks the power is unbalanced in Town's favor. Is this just a numbers thing? Does he already KNOW there's "at least" 1 Vig? Not too much later, he responds to Silver Jan (there she is again) with: May 5, 2012, 12:43pm, Silver Jan wrote:@ Colby11, why on earth would you want a Town Vig, they almost always kill Town and then say ops". /quoteI don't want a town vig, was trying to figure out how the game is balanced. The only way I can think of it being balanced is if scum has more than one kill? I am completely baffled by all of this, I may go crazy because of it
So, first he HOPES there's a Vig, then he doesn't WANT one. Next up: May 15, 2012, 12:02pm, dizzymrslizzy wrote:Gadarene I said in #158, that I don't think that scum killed Lightfoot.
I also know that Town Vigilantes were discussed, but that doesn't guarantee that's one of the roles. Yes, that sounds like a very plausible explination, but how do you know that FOR SURE? I don't know how many "other" roles there are in this game or what the standard roles are, so I'm just keeping my mind open until I have more than n=1 experience to go by./quote
I will answer this for you. We assume that there are Vigilantes because we know for a fact that a scum player was killed, and scum does not target their own people. Furthermore, vigilantes are somewhat common in mafia games. They aren't in every one, but in a fair amount of games.
At this point we are just speculating what the secret roles are. For certain, one is a vigilante role. Again, it's the back & forth: first he's "speculating" about the roles, then he is "certain". On D0, he announced: A quick guide for town players
If you have a power role... DO NOT ANNOUNCE IT NOW... We don't need to know.
If by chance you are on the chopping block, and a power role ( doctor, detective, etc.) then please announce it. If you are a regular town player, you have 2 options, either be lynched or try to push for who you think is scum to be lynched.
Remember this is a team game, not a me game Okay, whatever. Probably good, sound advice. But on D2-- I will also ask that if you are a detective and have found scum, let us know about halfway through toDay. That is my advice.
Meanwhile, we have too many people... This is the most number of people that are in one game for me. Huh? Total contradiction of what was said before. Why? Did he not know who to target on N2? Was he looking for advice personally? And I have one more, but even I think I'm reading too much into it; I'm embarrassed to share. What do you all think so far? Wrong tree? Those of you who have played before, am I even looking for the right things?

Didn't realize the font on dizzymrslizzy's post was so tiny, but it's not that important; it was colby11's reply that I was focused on.

texcat, I agree that confirmed Masons aren't lynch targets. But isn't that the beauty of NOT NK'ing them? They won't be confirmed until they're dead; meanwhile, they have to convince the rest of Town that they're telling the truth. The fact they are still alive after claiming should make a few people wonder, right? What if they're just scum trying to use Gadarene's death to their advantage? Those scummy scums.

Does she have an actual role or was that just an unfortunate wording that I'm reading into waaaay too much? <snip> In Day Three she says: Ooppss, I did missed those flipped thingy. I just knew that some roles have that kind of power. I thought the role will be only revealed when the player is lynched. This is totally need to be noted. Ty idlemafia.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=mara&thread=1932&page=6#94210I'm pretty sure I have used the word "role" to refer to scum/town as well as to power roles. If aleetha is a power, it is hard to imagine that she is playing it competently. Although I suppose her scatter brained posts could all be an act.

People I think are good candidates to be Doctors, Vigs or Detectives
CatinaSuit, kagemoto, Paranoia, and, maybe, Merestil Haye.
An outside candidate is Meeko.

I have nothing to contribute as far as suspicions, but I like the thought process.

another thought - JustBeingGinger voted for endhoot on D2 for "placing the safe vote and not coming back to explain in further your vote for lurking which in fact you are doing." She was the only vote for endhoot that day, and voted otherwise in D3. But the thing that hits me a little harder is that she has two VERY DIFFERENT dates that she'll be away until: I will be in Baltimore/Vegas from May 26th through June 5th. I will not have my laptop but I will have my phone. My participation will be minimal. Just so everyone knows and you have not checked the away thread. I am heading to Baltimore and then Vegas on Saturday morning. I will have my phone, but I will not have my laptop and will have limited TIME and connectivity. I will get back June 11th... any thoughts on this? should we care? could it be something I bring up on D4 to get the Townies to focus on?

@amy- and look at who JBG's vote was for on D3: our very own annem! Idk how important the date thing is. @rich- Merestil Haye is on my watch-list too; Idle put her there. He made the comment about subbing multiple people in for the same spot and others thinking there was a reason for it. His reasoning was regarding scum, but it could apply to Town Power Roles too. She's the 3rd person assigned to position 15.
