Have at it. Talk about what you will, but no overt strategizing or voting, please.
Oh - quick update. All PMs have been sent. I have confirmations from about half the players. The off-site boards are open; the spoiler board is not yet ready.
If everyone confirms today, are there objections to starting Day One a little early (this afternoon or Friday)?

And away we go.
I have no problems with starting early as well. Lets see if we can get a governer elected by the weekend.

OK, my next order of business is to ditch that filter, because i don't know what bu huihen de pofu even means.
After some consideration, yeah, you can chat. No voting for governor or lynch, but you can do some pregame chat if you want.

NAF
What does "bu huihen de pofu " mean?
In fact do you want to put the previous filter somewhere in the the metagame area so we can all see what we were actually saying.

ok, let's talk seriously a bit about the setup since story has allowed talk.
What do we know? We know that color counts in terms of firguring out the game setup. We can no longer afford to ignore color. This is important and I think it will help us in the long run.
We know there are at least two sides, replicant and colonist.
We know that there is most likely a cop type role, a Blade Runner. This means a minimum of 4 scum if the game is properly balanced (and I am going on the belief that it is.)
We know that there are only 25 players and that getting the exact player number was important. This leads me to believe that the balance on the game is rather tight. We can expect to likely find a balancing opposite power role for every existing power role, i.e. if there is a vig there is a high likelyhood of a SK etc.
We know (thanks to mtgman) that there is a good possibility that there is a Day Killer of some sort in the game. This can mean a lot of things, but it is a good place to start.
We know that we must elect a govoner at the start of any Day that does not begin with a govenor. I am not exactly sure how this will effect us yet, but it is probably the biggest difference we have seen so far.
We know that there are masons (decendants). The color leads me to believe that there are at least 3. My guess would be that there are not more then 3. Masons are an insanely powerful faction and I don't believe that mtgman would let story over populate the town with masons.
Lastly, we know that this is still mafia. Based on who the people creating it were, I would venture to guess that there is not going to be anything happening that would violate the basic tennants of mafia. The win conditions will be clear and clean, sides will balance, and we will always be able to puzzle out what is going on if we don't let paranoia get the best of us.
I am probably going to start each day with a list like this although with less detail. I think the key to these types of games is figuring out the rules for the setup quickly. I found that in Firefly people were letting the closed aspect of the game throw them, bending to paranoia, and getting side tracked into pointless discussions. Pulling us back to the basics of what do we know is a good way to start each Day I think. We need to keep clear and level heads.
And we shouldn't talk about random vs non random voting on the first Day. That was my favorite scum ploy to distract the town, and it always worked. FOS on anyone who coaxes that particular argument along.

I lost my admin privileges when Firefly ended. Actually, Story, if you don't mind. Would you thow the filter key into the security moniter viewing room board?

Aside from the fact that NAF can't spell governer, its a useful idea. I strongly suspect that there is at least another method of killing out there other than Lynch or replicant night kill. You win when all rogue Replicants are dead by any means I also suspect that there will be a third faction in the game, at a rough guess probably similar to the non-believers from Sekham. Sadly, not every resident of this colony shared the intentions and goals of the colony as a whole. Like in every frontier town, corruption abounded in New Canaan, and there were those who would twist the Replicant uprising toward their own ends. The colony found itself rudderless, leaderless, and plagued by enemies from without and within. I would guess at 4/5 replicants each one having a power role from the following piece. The Nexus-9 gathered a small group of rogue Replicants - each uniquely specialized in some way. It secured them false names and identifications, and scattered the group on four separate flights to the OWC called New Canaan. I would hope we had covered the details of random voting enough in the other games not to have to go over it again at the start of this one.

Aside from the fact that NAF can't spell governer, its a useful idea. oh yeah, a warning. I can't spell for beans. Never have been able to. I was a theatre major and spelling wasn't a requierment. I am used to spell checking after the fact and then editing, so it will take a bit of time for me to get used to not being able to do that.

I have not utilized the discussion of random votes as a scum tactic, but I have been a townie who has participated in such discussions, and the discussions of such discussions. We do have new people playing. I don't think it is realistic or wise to metagame as to any intentions as they relate to the "random" voting topic. If anyone is inclined to metagame on this matter, then you should consider my previous games as an indication that townies (both vanilla and power-roled) can and do participate in discussions on random voting.
I also have not seen evidence of a compelling nature that any scum groups have profited much from "distracting" people with the topic.

How horrific was the manderin used in the language filters? I have been wondering. "bu huihen de puofu" is a very clunky way of insulting someone, certainly. I probably would have just gone straight to the "puofu" part myself. But then I was raised in a cave and I only know some very mild expletives - they're almost at a poetic level of insulting.
