I would like a gin and tonic please. Aloha Almost Human. Have one on me Molefan, sorry about the way things went. Even while reading thru UATU's post I was still convinced you were a bad guy until I got to the reveal at the end.

NETA: But it depends on where our Australian friends are...perhaps they could chime in? If they're in the "later" zones, we could move it up to 4pm Pacific and still be OK. --FCOD Good point. Greedy will at least have a chance to to a reread of the Days events before it ends this way. I am in Queensland, the last backward-ass state in eastern Australia who doesn't have daylight savings (which is due to start in a couple of weeks I think). I wouldn't give too much consideration to timing just for one player (me). (I think I'm the only Australian in the game this time?) I've pretty much gotten used to working around the US based timing of the games anyway

*hands drinks to sinjin and Hoopy Frood* Enjoy. There's peanuts and popcorn on the bar, if you get the munchies. Thankee. And Bufftabby, yeah, Woodford Reserve is probably my favorite bourbon. But it's fairly pricey. My girlfriend has a Costco membership so we usually use Knob Creek which can be had for a very good price there. When I'm at a bar, I'll typically order Maker's Mark for the Manhattan. It's still a solid sipping bourbon, but it isn't as good as the other two. I'm kind of weird because I like my wines typically dry, crisp, and fruity, rather than sweet (and I usually go for reds), but I tend to prefer my liquors sweeter (i.e. Bourbon, Rum, Cognac). Though, I do like high end tequila. And other than Manhattans, I usually don't mix. My girlfriend's a big Scotch drinker. I've turned her on to bourbon. But she'll drink vodka and gin, two things I typically won't go near, though, on a rare occasion I'll have a fru-fru vodka martini if I'm at a martini bar.

Regarding times. Since I want to believe that our Mods are all powerful and knowing I really want the day to end 10 a.m. EST and 11 a.m. CST. Extrapolate to the rest of the time zones.
Kind of like Superman where he makes the world start spinning in reverse.
Then I will be suitably humbled and impressed.
Until then, Meh. One pants leg at a time, don't you know.

Manhattan's should be made with rye, not bourbon! Here try some Rittenhouse in that instead. [/insufferable snob] At least use a cheep rye heavy bourbon. Think of the children.

If you use cheap booze, you end up having to put more vermouth and bitters in to kill to the nastiness, and then you just have a bad drink. And yes, I am aware the original Manhattan did use rye. I'm not a big fan of rye myself, so I prefer the bourbon Manhattans. I like mine with 3 parts bourbon to 1 part sweet vermouth with just a dash or two of bitters. But I frequently drink my bourbon straight as well. (Actually, I'll take a single ice cube and swirl it in the drink for about 10-15 seconds, just enough to get a slight amount of water into it, which causes the liquor to open up and increases the volatility somewhat which will enhance the flavor. Then you spoon the ice cube out. It's a trick I learned from my girlfriend.

If you wouldn't drink it straight, you shouldn't mix with it. I make my bourbon and cokes with Maker's Mark.

Then you spoon the ice cube out. It's a trick I learned from my girlfriend. Ok, first off, I have to set you straight on the cheep=bad fallacy. Wild Turkey 101 and Old Forester frequently win taste tests and are both "cheep bourbon". I specified cheep rye heavy bourbon because rye heavy bourbons are frequently cheaper since wheat heavy swill like Makers Mark have captured the public imagination. (No offense Z, but Makers is a $10 bourbon in a $35 bottle. There is nothing wrong with that, but Makers has gained a rep as a premium Whiskey that it doesn't really deserve.) Secondly, Rittenhouse is not a cheep rye, and is very high quality. If rye isn't your thing, so be it, but I am not going to recommend a bad drink. On the other hand, drink what you like and like what you drink. It just makes me cringe that Woodford is being used in a mixed drink, but if that's what floats your boat don't let my snob ass tell you different. Even if what you like is Makers. I also agree that a little bit of water is a good thing. It opens up the water soluble scents and flavors in the drink. I don't use ice because I don't like cooling the bourbon below room temp (I do like ice with scotch and Irish whiskey's), but I fill a straw with distilled water and stir that into my drink. Ok, I am done. I have embarrassed myself with my snobbery enough for one evening.

I totally want to visit each and every one of you for a weekend to experience your styles of drinking. I'd be sure to return the favor!
I feel like I'm still in college. I drink a lot of beer from Santa Fe Brew Co, who sponsors our rugby club. In college, I drank a lot of the local brewery's product. My preferred drink of choice is Captain and Coke. Now, I know it's a shitty rum, but it's cheap, and spiced, and my former rugby coach used to buy them by the dozen for us when we used to come up to play here (he wasn't my coach at the time).

Nope, not planning on going to Louisiana anytime soon... It's funny, though, because I work in Los Alamos, so I either say I'm going "up the hill", or "headed to L. A." People who aren't from the area look at me funny when I use that one. I'd be happy to embarass myself in front of yet another fellow Mafioso, though.

Man, oh man have I downed my share of captain and coke. It's cheap and a perfect mixer for when you don't have the imagination or desire to make anything fancy, and when you're on beer 12 for the night and it's beginning to taste not quite as good as the first one did.
That being said, I also enjoy a good whiskey, a good beer, a long island or a white russian. It all depends on the mood. I'm not the snooty type, so I really don't care what the connaisseurs say - if it tastes good, it's only an advantage that it's also cheap.

For cheaper rums, I prefer Sailor Jerry's over Captain. They're both the same price at the supermarket near me.
And if you ever make it to Chicago, Rugger, I'll take you to the Map Room. The 9th best place in the nation to have a beer according to BeerAdvocate.com. They have 40 craft brews and imports on tap and a huge bottle list.
They also have an impressive selection of Scotch and Irish Whiskey along with the standard top shelf and call liquors.
They also carry Miller in a bottle, and charge $7.50 for it. Although, on Saturdays they have a special where they only charge $5.00 for it. The idea being that most of the beers on tap run about $5 anyway, so they want to discourage people from drinking swill.

Ah, the elusive Sailor Jerry's.. It seem impossible to find in Denmark, whereas Morgan is standard stock almost anywhere that sells booze.

I don't know if I'd like the Map Room. 40 beers in one night is quite the challenge. We'd have to show up in the afternoon. Especially if I'm going to have to sample some Scotch, too... geez! I dig the idea of Miller being $7.50. I find it quite funny how many people drink Bud Light. When I'm going for the cheap beer, it's straight for the Tecate, every time. But usually I'm looking for a porter or stout. At unfamiliar restaurants (and even some (lame) bars) the conversation goes like this: Me: Do you guys have a porter on tap? Waitress: No, sorry. Me: How about a stout? Waitress: No, we don't (knowledgeable waitress follows with "the darkest thing we have is the Nut Brown") Me (to unknowledgeable waitress): What's the darkest thing you've got on tap? I usually don't go back to those places by choice.

While I'm not a huge fan and there are other stouts I prefer, it's a nice staple. The Irish Heritage Center even had connections to get kegs of the unpasteurized Guiness. Some friends of mine had their wedding reception there. I think the Center got the kegs from the Dublin brewery, which is now closed though. I don't know if the Canadian brewery (which is where most North American Guinesses originate) can produce the unpasteurized version or not.

Ack. Guiness. I simple can stomath the foul milk-like substance. The taste isn't bad, but it flows too heavily for my liking. Also, when you're done drinking one, you feel like you've eaten a rye bread.

Question: Do we receive any sort of confirmation of our night actions, or do we simply assume they are received and read? Usually all you need to do is look for the "message read" icon in your outbox to know that the mods read it. If your action returns information (e.g. investigative role of some type), you should get that back in a PM, or be told that your investigation failed for whatever reason. If your action doesn't (e.g. role-blocker, night kill, doctor, etc.) you won't get a PM from the mods. You'll have to figure out from the opening Day color and the posts of your fellow players to find out if you had any effect in these cases.
