Part of me thinks she's looking for eggs and berries, each of which give her a different ability. Why else would she ask for eggs and then berries almost immediately after? ...and that's where I was going with my last question.

By the way: this might be a really good time for anyone with the know-how to do so to somehow duplicate the Day so far. We're getting closer and closer to the threshold at which we once lost half a Day's worth of posts.

I asked for eggs first because that's what I turn berries into. Remember Super Mario World? Yoshi ate the berries, and would eventually plop out a juicy egg. I forgot I was looking for berries to turn into an egg, not eggs themselves. No one can "give" me their berries. I search for them at Night. I imagine one scum and one town have an egg, so that a) I can't metagame about their alignment, and b) so I cant just ask "who's got berries?" and get two easy responses. I don't even know that people know they have the damn berries. So, even if both people wanted to tell me they have the berries, it would be 2 Nights before I would be able to get my egg (and kill someone with it, MarioKart-stylee).

Are we really that intimidating that we make the newbies paralyzed with fear and make them take a roleclaim in their pants?

sinjin: Go back and read my last post to you for comprehension. If you are still haveing a problem look up the word baiting and then the word connotation and then the word trap. Re: Buff I don't know about anyone else, but her full claim and how she full claimed make me more sure of the lynch rather than less sure. Yes, a vig is potentially useful, but it is also potentially harmful. I don't like the whole collecting berries thing either, or that she has waited so long to actually claim. It smells of made up crap to me. If you have a confirmable role you need to roleclaim earlier than tabby did so town actually has a shot an making a reasonable second choice. If anyone knows what the hell tabby is talking about with regard to berries or eggs now is the time to speak up. Actually, it's a little late to speak up on said anyone's part, but it's better than nothing. Re: mmouse. Story, you are the one who convinced me that early PFK lynches are equal to a mislynch. I am not saying that you are saying any different now, but if you want to go into an explination of why that is true that might be a good use of these last couple of hours. Also, Z could very well be right. I wouldn't put it past Idle to place a bomb or a jester in his game. He did give us the chia bingo manager after all.

mmouse! I see you there, online, on the board, right now this moment. If you are reading this, will you answer just one question (if, obviously, you are able to)? Are you in any way restricted from posting to this game? No, I don't have any restrictions. I'm just having a hard time trying to figure out how to actually play this game. I've read a number of them, and helped create roles and color for one, so I know how they work. On top of it, I have this stinkin' PFK role. I don't have powers or anything to help the town or have a pro-town win condition, and so I have no idea how to play this. And frankly, you are all intimidating. *blink*

On the other hand, Chia Bingo Manager. On the third hand, Milkman. Her role claim is insane. Sorry if it is real Tabby, you got a crap role if it's true, but...your role doesn't actually make any sense the way you are describing it.

That's why I *did* mention the confirmable part last night. The only way I could've mentioned berries any sooner is if I had done it *before* the Buffacle. If you don't like the role, take it up with Idle. I didn't design the damn thing.

On the loss of posts thing, it requires nearly twice the post volume we have now. The only times I've seen it happen were on times of heavy thread usage (lots of posters reading and posting) on threads in excess of 1,400 potst.
But better to be safe than sorry. I'm going to take a text backup right now. After I've refreshed my memory I'll post instructions so everyone else can.

Insane? I must be explaining it poorly. Two players in this game are holding berries. Each Night, I submit a name to check for berries. Once I have selected the 2 correct players and subsequently received the berries (now transformed into an egg, for the purposes of color), I have a kill to use at my disposal. I don't think it's a bad role, but the power is paltry indeed.

I am having a real difficult time parsing this. You turn eggs into berries. But you have to eat the berries to get an egg. One scum and one town have an egg. But you are looking for folks with berries. And it takes two nights of berries to make an egg. Man this sounds like something I would write late on a Saturday night after an all day bender.

Hope I got this multiquote thing figured out. What are you guys referring to? In one of our past games - I think it was Firefly, our first truly closed game, but it might have been something else - our Day One was so incredibly epic it broke the board. We got past a certain threshold of posts - I thought it was around a thousand but mhaye has offered a correction - and about half of the Day just up and vanished. It was a huge pain in the ass when going back and analyzing Day One became a consideration.

mmouse you say: I don't have powers or anything to help the town or have a pro-town win condition, and so I have no idea how to play this. So instead of letting us play 20 questions how about just posting your role pm. We could then give you suggestions on how to play. I'm soooooo not liking the not having a pro-town win condition. You state you don't have powers or anything to help the town. Do you have powers to hurt us?

The Day was long, and stimulating. With about 10 minutes to go, the thread having reached something in excess of 1,450 posts and discussion raging on who should be lynched, there was a momentary loss of service. When it came back, there were 596 posts missing from the middle of the Day. There was no way to get the lost posts back. The only person who had been saving the game was Captain Klutz. He made it available to his scumbuddies. To save a text backup, click on the "print" button at the top right of each page. This loads a text version of the whole thread (not just the current page). Click File, Save As, then save the file in a convenient folder. (Me, I use the same folder I keep my vote count and notes in). My current backup extends to my previous post.

If you follow the above procedure, where the system refers to player names it uses the account name and not the display name.
So I will be "MHaye", DBI "dotchan" and Shaggy "Sauron" in such files. There may be others who have changed display name too.

Hmm.. mmouse's latest revelation could tempt me to change my vote, but I utterly dislike changing votes in the last minute, therefore it remains on DBI.
About mmouse though.. Could he be a scum bomb trying to get a trade for a vig? Or is that a bad trade for scum? (I mean if we have a town vig and he targets mmouse?)
Somehow, I think he's actually telling the truth.

Go to the other side of the office to get some coffee, and this is what I come back to? I never thought in 2 16 years that I'd see that post. I would NOT vote for mmouse, though. Beware mightily the last-minute vote switch to an obvious target, for it could be designed to get you bombed or jestered. Not voting for mmouse could allow us to determine if we have a Vig or not. Getting my ass lynched for a brainfart at the last minute when I was a roleblocker/vig in Skrull has given me a vested interest in avoiding last-minute lynches. =P

So - the Buffacle. I was thinking day before yesterday, "Story is being a little more aggressive than I'm used to". My reread bears this out, to my mind. It definitely reads to me like Story chose to escalate the debate on purpose, and Buff reacted ... poorly. Story, this is a game of words, and you know this better than most of the rest of us. I don't want to say anything more about the tactic I think you're using, or what I think about it, but I don't think you've got paydirt here. Buff reads like a flusterbated Townie right now. I agree that some of her reactions were ... weird. But I can't say I wouldn't react a little weird too were I starting down the barrel of a Storyteller in inquisition mode. **** So who to vote for? Mmouse is probably a bad lynch at this point. DBI is the other option, and a poor option at that, considering the potential for subness. But DBI is a better option than Bufftabby, I think. Dot, I don't know how you manage this. I'm laughing right now, and I feel horrible for you... Unvote mmouse 9799 Vote Death By Irony
