Congratulations!
Are they gonna let you suggest names?

Of course, and you guys can suggest names too. I am pushing for Ada for a girl, after Byron's daughter who basically invented computer algorithms. Surprisingly enough this did not go over well. Ada is also an aero computer language (named after the aforementioned Ada) which makes it doubly cool.

Congratulations! I've got a little neice or nephew on the way, and I'm very excited. His/her older brother is my favorite little person, so I'm sure this one will be great too!

IF you name her Ada, many engineers will cringe inside at her name due to the aforementioned computer language. Trust me on this.
-Z, switched majors from Aero Engineering to be a sysadmin instead.

Conflippingrats. Ada sounds wonderful. Peekerkid#4 is Adelaide. So, yepper Ada will work. I've also got a McKenzie, Jessica and Jenn. Good for you.
And don't take this wrong but how in the world does a 20 something or other person end up being a granny?
Are you from Little Rock?

Congrats on impending Grandma-dom. You get to spoil the kid rotten, then hand them back when they fill their nappies.

Thanks all. The singuy and I are already planning the kiddo's first trip to DisneyWorld. Hopefully the grandkid will not go apeshit crazy on the Small World ride like his/her mom did. "AHHHHHHH, MAKE THEM STOP, MAKE THEM STOOOOOOOPPPPPPP!!!!!" rinse and repeat for the entire ride which happens to be the longest one in all of Disney. Who would have guessed that a 3 year old girl would hate delightful little dolls singing the same song over and over and over.

Who would have guessed that a 3 year old girl would hate delightful little dolls singing the same song over and over and over. Are you serious? Disney world is chock full of stuff that would give the tiny kidlets nightmares, especially those giant costumed actors. Try explaining to a terrified toddler that Tigger isn't trying to eat you. I didn't have pleasant Disney memories until I was old enough to appreciate all the cool stuff they had there.

That's great news. Mine have so far refrained from reproducing. It could have something to do with the fact they know how damned unmaternal I am. Before they hit puberty I'd already started hammering home the fact I wouldn't be one of those grandmas who gave up my life to look after their spawn just so they could carry on as normal. The twins may have scattered one or two seeds inadvertently but so far there's been no knock on the door so fingers crossed. I used to have an Great Auntie Ada - she kept budgerigars and considered Advocat a nourishing breakfast - very cool lady

Absolutely Kat, let em fly. I will post the kids comments here. Warning, they are at least as snarky as I am, if not more. Please please please get them to make the childs middle name "Danger". I can't talk my wife into agreeing to this as a middle name, but I think that there should be a person walking around who can truthfully say that "Danger is my middle name" Even better if it's a girl. And Congrats Sinj!

ohhh, I like Danger as a middle name!!!! We are soooo lame, our son's middle name is Jackson because we're 99% sure we conceived him after the sweetheart race in Jackson Hole. Haha, I whipped the singuy's ass so hard that day. (Get your minds out of the gutter, I know that's where they are. I'm talking about in the slalom.)

Santo: It was a fluids test, thermo test on friday, hehehehe. Yeah, I do give them partial credit, and I didn't even give the maroons a zero for the part referenced above. Oh and yes we are all evil.

Fluids test, you say? I had to take that class twice. I thought I knew it all back then. I had to take differential equations four (WTF?!) times. Retook statics, retook Calc 1 and Chem 2... Management Science, Information Systems... geezus, Christ, you think I'd have learned to focus by now!!! Jeez, give me a break, how was that cock, by the way, sucker? A bit lacking in flavor, but the texture was quite firm.

Management Science, Information Systems... geezus, Christ, you think I'd have learned to focus by now!!! I had to take dynamics twice but it wasn't totally my fault. It was an 8 am class, the instructor was my advisor and he was sooooo boring that even when I did make it to class I fell right back to sleep. We agreed I should withdraw before mid-terms, no harm no foul. So then right before finals we both get called into the dept. chair's office and get reamed out. Seems the program was being audited for its abet accreditation. During a review of student records the chair discovered that my kindly advisor had registered me for fluids the next semester which had dynamics as a pre-requisite, which I was also re-registered for. (This was done all the time btw). The chairman was totally paranoid that the abet guys would check out my records in particular because I was the only female in the program. Long, stupid, story short, they plopped me back in the class for the final, assured me I would get a D and made me promise to take it again the next semester. In hindsight I should have demanded at least a C. But all's well that ends well. I still hate dynamics though. And now I have the power to mold minds.

My girlfriend's a genius and struggled in her first sememster of law school after not doing very good on the LSAT. Her younger sister has a visual processing learning disability, so my girlfriend got herself tested. It turns out she's got Inattentive ADHD. A little bit of mental stimulant (i.e. Ritalin), and she's found herself able to concentrate on school much better. She never had problems before Law school because high school was easy and she was an English Lit major in college. (I.e. everything was papers to write rather than tests to take and she's a great writer.)

No; it's pure lazyness. I aced all the tests the first time (except diff eq). The homework just wasn't interesting to me, so I wouldn't do it. Although, Ritalin or Aderol (sp?) might make sitting at a desk all day easier to tolerate. When I sit down to do it, I do it well; I'm a chronic procrastinator.

Ok, on the name thing, I've typed to the offspring, and she likes the Danger middle name thing. However, she has a new condition that all names have to sound good in Spanish. In her words "My name sounds like ass in Spanish and I'm not doing that to my kids." So I suggested Dangerosa which is now going up the ladder to the babydaddy. w00t.

I like Dangerosa as a sub for danger. Do they live in a Spanish speaking country? Dangerosa es mi nombre... It has a ring to it don't you think? Peligro es mi nombre just doesn't sound right. Though "Me llamo PELIGROSO!" Is kinda awesome too (though it doesn't seem gramatically correct. It's been too long since I have used my spanish regularly for me to figure out what is wrong though.) You made my day sinj, thanks!
