"Is everybody here?" questions Buff.
NAF answers, "Everybody? I hope not. We don't even have enough for a minion yet."
A few more people enter the Town Square.
"That's everyone." says Cookies. These two were hiding in the basement, but they came out after I gently poked them with a shovel.
KidV mumbles "Hi"
"Well, what are we supposed to do now?" wonders Natlaw.
"We are not here to continue grudges that is sure." states Mhaye. No grudge keeping here.
"Over here, there is a proclamation from the Prime Minister posted!" shouts Jaade.
Prime Minister Proclamation
We will rid this land of Rebels. Each Day at sundown the Establishment will lynch one Rebel until there are no more of them among us. Have a peaceful day.
"A great plan!" exclaims BillMC. "I'm glad I'm not a Rebel."
"Me neither." confirms Special Ed.
A quick poll is taken. 24 people claimed to not be Rebels, while no one is quite sure what Peeker was saying.
"Hmm we may need a better plan." ponders Archangel
"How bout we start with people with the first name Hockey?" wonders Sister Coyote
"I know." Hoopy speaks. "You could have each person vote each Day who they think is most likely to be a rebel and the person with the most votes at the end of the Day would get lynched."
"Wait, you aren't even a member of this town." says Pollux
Hoopy replies,"Right, but someone needs to make sure that your plans fits the natural mechanics of this game."
Fair enough.
Pleonast intervenes, "Look there is a note posted under the proclamation"
Mercenary for Hire
A variety of services offered including, but not limited to stabbings, shootings, suffocations, and long monologues on breadcrumbs. For a maiming with a smile, simply pm the moderator once a Day with a requested mission and how much gold you are willing to part with. If I accept your assignment, you will be notified the next Night. Payments will automatically be transferred to me upon successful completion of an assignment. All inquiries will be 100% anonymous even from me.
"And there's another note under that one." notes PrecambrianMollusc
Wanted Dead of Alive
Thief! Man, woman, or possibly a greyhound of above average intelligence has pilfering golds from Quantom Citizens. The person averagish size, wearing darkish light colors, and most likely has a shadow. A reward of 3 pats of back for information that leads to his capture.
"There is a note under that note too!" exclaims NAF.
"Ooh 20% off at Bed, Bath & Beyond!" chants Julie
The Day will end Monday at 4pm EST

So, we have our minion now. How is everyone?

Apparently it is 98 at our house, the power is out, and Shay can hear CalFire trucks and the CalFire chopper flying around. But other than that, I'm good.
Spintari says he will get on the boards this evening (Eastern).

Good lord, that's terrible. (About the heat lack of power and fires, less terrible that Sintari is going to wait to grace us with his presence).
So, thoughts on the game setup post? What about that mod action that we can buy with gold! Does there seem to be any mechanisim with wich we can get more gold? I don't know about the rest of you, but I didn't start off with really any gold to speak of.
Hawk, are we allowed to pool our resources and buy the actions of the for hire game mechanic (I am going to call him Vinny) as a group or is it an individual only sort of thing?[/b]

98? I thought high 80s was bad enough. Of course I have no air conditioning here.
Also, sorry about the bike, Buff. Maybe it'll turn up?
On the game, I see some one has stolen my thunder. Speaking of grudges, that same person was most upset with me for disembowelling him in the last game we were in together - but as I said at the time, he should never have killed Jean Grey. Should I be worried? Does anyone want to serve as my personal lightning rod?

Hey guys...it's been a while, so bear with me as I get back into the groove.
I too would like some clarification regarding the apparent ability to buy a kill. Does that person get to read through all the PM's and pick one or will the mod do that? If "Vinny" gets to read all the request PM's that would give him a ton of information about the game.
Seems we also have a thief amongst us. I'm going to go out on a limb and opine that these two roles are PFK.
Can't wait to hear more thoughts and get back into the swing of this thing.

I do not think the "assassin for hire" = "assassinating mod for hire". It reads to me like the mod brokers the transaction such that the assassin knows not who hired him/her.

Is the Mercenary possibly available for OOG persons? Like, perhaps, neighbors who rev motorcycles at 3 am and park across one's driveway? Not that I have any specific reason for askin' or nuttin'.
It's a good thing about the coupon. I need new bathmats.

Morning all
Regarding the Merc, my impression is whoever has some cash can PM the mod with a name and a bid , the mod will compile the list and send it to the merc, with bidders names stripped out, who will then decide which one to pick. What his selection criteria are, I have no clue, but surely cash amount has to be in there somewhere.
PFK vs 3rd party To take some definitions from other games, whereby PFK being alive precludes us or scum winning by being alive and 3rd party wins with whoever wins just by being alive, I would guess the merc is 3rd party, a mercenary just wants money and really doesn't care about the outcome. Not sure how we can use it to our advantage other than if we discover scum/thief/other anti town role during the day and the lynch queue is full, could we band together and bid on their services? Apparently they have some choice though. If we have an investigator who stumbles across the merc, we could then collectively (well who ever is trusted town at that point) say take XX confirmed townies bid or we lynch you tomorrow and use them as a town aligned vigilante. I wonder if they have to kill ever night.
regarding gold, I suppose it would be foolish to disclose how much gold we all have as that is just painting a huge 'steel from me' sign for the thief to follow, although I have to wonder if we have some counter role to the thief.
Well all just BS and speculation really.

Does that "most likely has a shadow" bother anyone else? Is it possible there are 2 thieves?

Same here, unless 'most likely has a shadow' means the thief is most likely not a vampire.
wait... if the thief is most likley not a vampire, that doesn't preclude vampires being present, and why did the mod have to bring up the possibility of vampires anyway if there aren't any, so there might be vampires as well as rebels, ruuunnnnnnnnn away

I do not think the "assassin for hire" = "assassinating mod for hire". It reads to me like the mod brokers the transaction such that the assassin knows not who hired him/her. I agree that the mod probably brokers the transaction, but I wonder how much latitude the merc has. For example, if I were the merc and someone offered me a wink and a smile to off Winston Smith, I'd take it just out of sheer malice. (Wait, I guess the color said this wasn't the place for grudges. Damn.) Obviously, a wink and a smile aren't really worth anything, well, from most of you anyway. So, I wonder if the merc will get to choose between jobs to pick the one he or she wants to do at whichever price, or if the mod will simply forward the one with the highest price tag that is doable under our setup.

Well I was thinking the merc would get a choice of all assignments, however all the note says regarding choice is "If I accept your assignment, " So it could be he gets a list and decided which one, or he gets one from the mod and decided if to do it or not. As the Merc is writing a note to all I would interpret that as saying he has a choice of multiple offers. Based on a purely pulled out of my arse guess, I would imagine there must be some strong money related motivator for the Merc to go and maim, murder and mutilate. Maybe needs money to win, or needs to keep X money average incoming coming in to fund them self.

Interesting about the gold, eh what? I don't see a gold-derived win condition as unlikely at all. Matter of fact, I'd be willing to bet on it (get it?). Prolly a 3rd party mechanic.
