yaknow, clyde. as in barrow. not alaska or wheel, fcs. and certainly not that ishtar abomination. Thanks for the explanation. I hoped it was that and not Clint Eastwood's monkey orangutan. Completely OOG, but when I was a kid, one of my classmate's aunt told us when she was young she had dated Clyde before he met Bonnie. I've never known whether it was true, but it was certainly possible from stories other older people told about her. (Not that she was a sociopath or anything, just a real hellion in her youth. When I knew her she was a very sweet, self-described "old broad".) She could easily have been "pulling our leg", but if not? Talk about dodging a bullet!!

Post by ComeToTheDarkSideWeHaveCookies on Jul 15, 2009 18:00:08 GMT -5
Yes, that's a claim and I know that some of you might very well start throwing rotten tomatoes at me for making this play, but as you will see I have my reasons.
No one should be reading jack crap into any of the responses to the fishing for the win condition or vanilla handshakes, and here's why:
Hawk's first role PM to me was incorrect. It was basically a Frankenstein love-child of what appeared to be a vanilla Rebel and a vanilla citizen of Quantom role PM. He later gave me a new one and told me to ignore the first.
However, whether it was a legitimate error or Hawk being a Gastard, other players of unknown alignment could have received the same thing.
In my mind this negates any insights that you all think you may have gotten from that particular tangent of the conversation.

Hello, I'm dfrntbreign and I think I'm in way over my head. This is gonna be so much fun. (Sorry I don't have any "First Day sucks" commentary, yet. Maybe by Friday. Hi, and welcome to the board, but I'm sorry, every time I see your name I'm going to think "Can I buy a vowel?" (Yes, I'm aware the last part has vowels, but my brain processes things weird and so I pronounce your name drffnttbrrgn and ignore the actual vowels.) ---- So I didn't see any discussion about this, but while we're all talking about handing over Gold to the merc...has there been any indication of how we're supposed to EARN Gold? Like... Hey mod, can I get 100 Gold inserted into my bank account, please?Just to, you know, see if that works. I also call dibs on rifling through the lynched person's pockets. You know...just to check what alignment they are...of course. *shifty eyes* I can't decide whether to vote for NAF because he's always scum, or bufftabby because she's always on a different team than me. Since I'm town this time, buffy has to be non-town. It's the rules. Hm. Vote NAFUnvote NAFVote bufftabbyUnvote bufftabbyAhhhhh, I feel much better now. ;D

Yeah, it was odd phrasing. Can you demonstrate how exactly that phrasing points more to a scum Cookies than a town Cookies? No, I can't. But that is certainly not how I would phrase that sentence. It pinged me. It's very early in the Day. I'm voting. I didn't really want to say more, because I wante to see if others came to a similar conclusion as I did. My only thoughts on scumminess were maybe that she felt rushed to state her alignment and quickly read the posted Vanilla PM and that's what she came up with. It's really not a rock solid case, but I knew I'd get more attention and more conversation with a vote than with a raised eyebrow.

I keep wondering about the gold. Will there be other things to spend it on? Can I contract with Vinny to watch someone, or is he only available for stabbings and the like? How can I get some more gold and if I do, how can I protect it from the thief? And somehow the phrase from Watergate, "follow the money" keeps coming to mind.

Moving on then.
To humor your threoy I will point out I thought this was kind of fishy:
I bolded the Vanilla Rebel PM. Not sure if that was just speculation into what a Vanilla Rebel PM would "look" like, or speculation that there are Scum that are just Vanilla Scum, I dunno, but I find it odd that Cookies mentions Scum at all there, when Hawk never posted a "Vanilla Rebel PM".
Possible I missed it, but I just went back to check, and I didn't see a new topic with it like he did with the Town one, and it wasn't in the Town thread.
Shrug.

Post by ComeToTheDarkSideWeHaveCookies on Jul 15, 2009 23:17:52 GMT -5
I very much want to negate the limited handshaking that has occurred already. Maybe I can clarify a few things. (Added bold purple for a key phrase and included the Subject which doesn't appear to be included when using quote buttons, which is good to know) I hate being a vanilla with a magic bag Yes, that's a claim and I know that some of you might very well start throwing rotten tomatoes at me for making this play, but as you will see I have my reasons. No one should be reading jack crap into any of the responses to the fishing for the win condition or vanilla handshakes, and here's why: Hawk's first role PM to me was incorrect.
My only source of truth is my 2nd role PM decreeing me a vanilla citizen of Quantom. Since there were errors in my first PM, all I have is conjecture as to which bits (that were not also included in my 2nd PM), may or may not have been at all valid or have any bearing whatsoever in the game. However, all of the handshaking attempts that went down prior to my claim involved terminology that was present in both of my PMs. Once the Princess Bride game is finished, I'll be happy to elaborate on why I was inclined to say that I hate being a vanilla with a magic bag. I should say that other players could have received similar things, not necessarily the same thing. What I meant here is that if the Mod made an error with my role PM, he could have made similar errors with other role PMs, regardless of what role information was erroneously included in the erroneous PMs, and regardless of what the role information was in any valid follow-up PMs. Ergo, I do not think it is necessarily wise to assume that the only erroneous PM content that was sent was sent to only me, nor do I think it is necessarily wise to assume that the only erroneous PM content that was sent was an exact carbon copy of my first PM. I am willing to entertain the thought that the only people who could have been impacted by any such errors would probably vanilla of some kind. If Hawk had managed to send PMs around with something like a Scum Godfather's chocolate in a Town Investigator's peanut butter, I would expect the game to either be scrapped and started over from scratch or subs to have been called in. I just realized that I didn't explicitly state my alignment, which is the citizen of Quantom one. Sorry about that. I refer to two possible alignments in my claim. The citizen of Quantom one is what was given to me in my 2nd PM. Better?
