You know, meeko, I'd like some incontrovertible proof of the redirector and Dexter's lynch would aid in that. Frankly, I think the most protown thing to do with a jailing ability is to not use it at all. So, I think Dexter is either scum or playing very poorly, and I don't think Dexter would play poorly.

Chitter.... Little Indian Girl: Wow... ok... seriously... Not reading the thread and trying to use a bad argument to justify your suspicion once.... I get that... but then you get called out on it, and come back with this? And do the same thing again? I mean really? "Frankly, I think the most protown thing to do with a jailing ability is to not use it at all. So, I think Dexter is either scum or playing very poorly, and I don't think Dexter would play poorly." Did you read anything she wrote at all? Or do you even care? Here let me help you out... applicable parts in bold, underlined, and size 4. <font style="font-size: 12px;">Who said I was jailing at random? Gut feelings aren't random. And I have no control over the power I got. I'm playing with what I was given. Now that I have all the information about it anyway. <font style="font-size: 12px;"> I have to admit, it sounds like bullshit, Dexter.
Having said this, I know my role left out at least one major detail(the whole "it's invisible but re-directable" thing).
What did your pm say that made you think you had a choice between protecting and blocking? I know you can't quote it, but what's the gist of it that made you think this?
I can sympathize, so I'm giving you a shot. I totally mis-read it. I really have no excuse for that part. However, I would have never targeted Eleanor at all if my PM had been complete. I do not have a choice to sit idle. I have to choose someone and it can't be myself. I asked. I knew that night one would bite me in the ass when I had to claim. I mean, how could it not? I know that the mods won't confirm in thread that a huge part of my power was left out of my pm. I understand the votes. Hell, I would be voting me too if I didn't know I was town. Now... if you are suspicious of Dexter and don't believe her... that's fine... voting her is fine too... I don't believe her myself.... but to bring up points she has already adressed as though she hasn't adressed them? That's "playing very poorly".... to borrow a phrase.

Total Galadriel was my target for night three. I don't really have a lot of time to do in depth analysis anymore and I pretty much rely on my gut feelings for stuff like this. She was getting some suspicion and I thought she was a good target. Huh? You did what? Based on what? A gut?? I have said over and over again that I didn't target BatMc. You (!) now say there must have been some redirecting-thing that moved you to the Batcave - and yet (if you speak the truth) this actually makes it more believable that the same happened to me you still "pretty much rely on my gut feelings for stuff like this". So what is your gut telling about me right now? Well you seem to imply that you're getting ready to put in some "depth analysis"... To me it looks like you're totally disregarding that the gut was completely wrong and that you'll dig for something to justify it. This is (to some extent) an OMGUS-vote. But I really read that post like you're smudging me. Also i find it very convenient that you "mis-read" your PM... Vote: Dexter

(A devil's advocate argument occurred to me last night. It makes sense for scum to send a roleblocker at the doc while they use a proxy (Stay-Puft) to attack the cop, back on night two. However, I had forgotten that Batman reports an actual roleblocker in action as well, from night three. Would scum have roleblocker, redirector *and* jailer? Could they have sent the actual roleblocker at Batman both nights, and the jailed doc been a coincidence from their point of view? Might it even offer an additional explanation (besides the roleblock on DoR) for the possibly-missing scum kill from that night? I don't know; I have to think about it. But I thought it should be mentioned. In the meantime:
unvote[/color]
It's enough doubt in my mind that it warrants actually reading up on what Dexter has been doing and how he's been defending himself.)

Marcel, please stop voting for Raj just because he's pissed you off. ::Raises a finger :: Ed is pissing me off. That's obvious. He is getting my vote, because he is being so Incredulous. You may think I am about to take my marbles and leave. Ed has ALREADY "Screw you guys, I'm going home", as far as I am concerned in this game. I DO NOT understand his shit. but the thing is gang, it's stinking to high heaven, and you need to come to terms with it yourself. ED IS NOT BEING PRO-TOWN. HE'S NOT BEING PRO-MAFIA. [In terms of the game, not as synonym for the other team.] It is very hard to play a social interaction game, if you shut down. Yet that is what we have going on here. There is no recourse for me playing WITH him. unless I vote. Ed should get your energy here, not me. You guys can say all you want about me, but you REALLY need to look at ED in general, over his play style overall, and not just this game. - I don't get Zedd, I don't get Dexter. However, and Fuck the mod for screwing down* a broken game, I am apt to believe both of them as far as their confusion. Remember : We offered our names first, and as far as I can tell, roles came from that, custom made. If you are using a custom role profile, the chances of messing up rise significantaly. There is no model to compare to, no check list to run the role through. I believe both of them. * Screw the game down. = Not being able to post the PM. Ok fine, I won't. My PM was..... very casual. - I fully expect a Potato to reveal itself in this game any second today. - I don't have it. You guys KNOW K N O W I would have revealed it if I had it. [[Why is it, my rock solid cases in this game are always to my detriment?]] Because we don't already have enough things going sideways.

but on to more serious matters.
vote dex
the monkey brain thinks that dex jailed eleanor (because who better than make sure they don't attend than a doc, which only scum would have a clue about at that time) on the bat cave party Night. scum then redirected puffy, hoping to keep their hands semi clean in batty's death. gir was playing her own game in being there which she, of course, lied about. and i somewhat believe story and his claimed power use. which leaves ror who freely admitted to being there, which i would expect from a townie back up doc role. and that leaves total who says she wasn't there but apparantly had no effect on the outcome of that Night's frivolity.
normally that would make me think that total was scum up to no good, but her subsequent jailing semi invalidates that position. but why would scum redirect total to batty if they had no clue what she could do?
monkey brain tired.

I don't think I can get any clearer than I already have been. Jack Skellington appears to either not be reading for comprehension or is not reading at all. The only reason I can think of that he would do that is he doesn't really care about the details of my defense because he already knows I'm telling the truth and the only way he could know that is if he's scum.
vote: Jack Skellington

I can't believe a compulsive jailing power that removes a player from the game entirely for a night and a day would be protown at all. The only town use I see for it is if we know we have two scum and we lynch one and jail the other. Of course, even then we still couldn't lynch them until they'd had a free night so really I don't see how this is supposed to help town at all.

(No. I know somewhere Blockey said the roles were developed ahead of time, and assigned to players, with the names/costumes providing for color.) Ed has quit the game, Marcel? SQUEEK (Marcel feels that because Ed is refusing to interact with him, that he has "left the game" and is "violating the spirit of Mafia." I will note that Ed is still interacting with the rest of us. I will also look skeptically at the two of them, but not read too much into what I'm seeing because -- despite the Ed and Meeko show garnering us two Wolves in Conspiracy III -- they always have this problem interacting with each other.)

Marcel,
dude, go back and read my post. I specifically said that I was not ignoring you.
I told you that I wasn't replying to your post. Your post was beyond ridiculous. You were basically stating that I couldn't call Dexter's situation 'Odd' as long as you are in the game since you are more odd than he is. My case against Dexter had nothing to do with you. I feel fully entitled to use the word 'odd' without commenting on your presence.
It made no sense. it continues to make no sense, and it's not worthy of replying to.
I feel it is probably best if other people explain to you how ridiculous your comments on my case against Dexter are, because I consistently fail to communicate with me.
But, congratulations, you've gotten me to respond to you anyway.

Remember : We offered our names first, and as far as I can tell, roles came from that, custom made. If you are using a custom role profile, the chances of messing up rise significantaly. There is no model to compare to, no check list to run the role through. <snip> My PM was..... very casual. As said by Death of Rats: the powers were made before hand and randomly assigned. Blockeys style is very casual compounded by the fact that he (and his co-mods) had to write them in a short time to describe the power with the players chosen custome. And to keep the peace I'm try to translate your post as others read it: I wonder each player got EITHER a post restriction, or a power restriction. That is, if you guys don't have a post restriction, I would be willing to bet that your role can not be trusted as given. One way or another. Bit of random speculation. Most will disregard it because the post restriction are very likely just based on the custome regardless of alignment or powers and speculating about it doesn't help to find scum. Seomwhat useful information (as didn't remember reading that from you before) but it was also made clear in the Dawn post so not that relevant anymore. Builds on the (in my opinion) flawed assumption above but even if 'powers with a restriction' makes you believe they are truthful when claimed by someone without a post restriction it tells us nothing about the alignment of those players. Also note no-one was doubted that Dexter can jail since the mason watch result last Night. I don't follow where peeker pulled this (not reading much into his own out-there speculation) so when reading I'll just skip the reference. NOTE: retorical question don't answer please. Why shouldn't peeker have revealed the watch result? Why shouldn't Ed question a player who fires his power blindly? Note that Dexter claims he didn't know his power would last a full cycle or that his jail would both block and protect. I can buy the first if it wasn't spelled out but the second is pretty dubious (wiki: A Jailer both roleblocks his target and stops all targeting actions on him). For the record my PM said plainy said "Town <power>" without further explanation but since the PM were written by different people they might not have the same format. I got details on how it worked by asking questions and I find it odd Dexter didn't. The difference you are unable to see is that what is 'odd' about you is that you make posts that show (for lack of a better word) sideways thinking (or if I must describe it: worries way, way too much about his own speculation of the meta game - see potato). When Ed called Dexter claims 'odd' he was being sarcastic: "How odd that you didn't ask about X. And how odd you didn't ask about Y" by which he meant "I don't believe you didn't know X or Y. You're just lying hoping we'll see you as stupid town instead of scum". Side note: was it Dexter or Death of Rats who claimed a role in Blockey's Mirror Mini while she didn't have that role (causing me to counter claim for no reason)? Ah it was Sister Coyote so no precedence there Dexter skims her role PM.

I don't get all this Ed/Marcel-noise. I believe this is my first game with them both and I can't figure out what's going on. So I really have to agree with Dr. Raj ATM and say: Cool it guys. The posts seems to be either made up and having to do with the persons and not the players. I don't like that. We should have MHaye to come in here and hold the no-grudge-speak. Maybe we could have him write it in the wiki - and we could all copy/paste when needed in games

Jail confirmed/likely town - results in protection - pro town. Jail powers or people suspected to have powers - results in data points for process of elimination - pro town. Jail scum/suspected scum - potential nullification of scum kill, data points for process of elimination, keeping manipulating forked tongues quiet. I see it as a clumsy-yet-versatile role for Town.

In response to Nordom, I'm sorry that I don't have a vast knowledge of mafia roles, and was not aware that I needed to consult an outside source for role information. All information pertinent to my role should have been explained in my PM or my PM should have had a link to a wiki.

Okay. My vote may have been a bit over-sensitive. I'd still like to hear from Dexter if the "gut feeeling" is still there? Why was in there in the first place?
For now my vote will stay - but I can see (when reading back) I may have been a bit defensive based on the "I have no time for a depth analyze right now"-comment.
On first read I saw it as Dexter saying he was going to go back, read and come back with more "dirt" on me to justify the jailing. I can see how that might not have been Dexter's meaning.
However - I'd still like Dexter to explain it to me.

Something puzzles me. Gir! was a serial killer yet we don't appear to be up to our eyes in bodies. So clearly there was a roleblocker around who was not Lt Columbo. Depending on who is lying there may be a scum roleblocker around in addition to this other roleblocker.
Question: how did the roleblocker know to stop the serial killer when the rest of us didn't know she was there?
Something else puzzles me. We now have Rorschach taken away for interrogation. This has not happened to any other player prior to this. This could mean that it is a one-shot power. But it is odd that this power surfaces just as the need to roleblock the SK dies away. Why has nobody been taken away before?

Depending on who is lying there may be a scum roleblocker around in addition to this other roleblocker. SQUEEK! (Night One, we were EMPed and no one had an action. Night Two, we had no deaths and Gir was -- apparently -- redirected to Bats, who was apparently protected in some fashion. Night Three, we had two deaths, one of whom -- Columbo -- we don't know the source of. Night Four, we had one death. All things considered, the number of bodies seems proportional to the events of the Nights as we know them, and doesn't imply another roleblocker so much as the redirector.)

However - I'd still like Dexter to explain it to me. Back when I first started playing Mafia, I used to take copious notes and make elaborate spreadsheets and analyze vote patterns. I was the one who started recording post numbers with votes and unvotes, then at the dawn of the next day, I'd color code players who had died according to their alignment and do some serious vote analysis. I'm saying I don't have time for that now. I haven't taken any notes at all. (I have at least 2 notebooks full of handwritten notes from previous games.) It's my first game in over a year and I am pretty much flying by the seat of my pants. I've done it in previous games as well and I find that I like it much better to treat Mafia as an enjoyable diversion from my everyday life rather than a full time job. I'm not going back and trying to find a reason for jailing you. My reason was that at the time you were drawing suspicion, and I thought you might be scum. Now, I think it's entirely possible you might be some kind of protector role as others have speculated. I really have no idea, although I am sensing less scum vibe from you today overall.

Frankly, I think the most protown thing to do with a jailing ability is to not use it at all. So, I think Dexter is either scum or playing very poorly, and I don't think Dexter would play poorly. What do you expect that proof to say, other than there is at least 1 redirector in this game, based on stay puft being redirected to bats on night 2?
