NETA: NM, Moley. I see your argument now, missed it in the large quote. (Do I need to ask you a direct question in order for you to be able to respond?) With all due respect to Storyteller, I don't know who's a power player here or not. I've played maybe 5 games on this board and some of you I know well from other places, but for some of you I just vaguely recognize your screen names. I found his post suspicious, but his questioning of me alleviated my concern. Mainly because if he were scum, it would have been easy to keep pushing the point on me. He didn't have to say that he couldn't fault me for believing scum could talk during the day because it was my past experience, as he was judging that belief based on his past experience. I think if he were scum he didn't need to say that, he could have just kept suspecting me on the basis of my stating a belief that scum could talk during the day. You're in the "probably town" column for me because unless you faked your whole posting restriction, which seems unlikely, I don't see the scum motivation for calling attention to a posting restriction that no one else noticed yet. The other possibility is that storyteller wanted to look like a confrontational, suspicious townie so he picked up on something that he then turned around and dropped. This would make it look like he's trying to find scum (by asking probing questions) but do so without attracting too much attention (by letting up on it). As for Honest Moley, why is his claim any more likely to be town than scum? Or even third party for that matter? Basically, I don't think either storyteller's or Honest Moley's actions make them look any townier than anyone else at this point. I'm suspicious of your quickness to start labeling players as likely town when these are really null-tells.

twice? This game has a method for encouraging participation, I hope it will have some effect on Pinkies. However, the method for remving him does not benefit Town. By the time he had enough penalty votes, we would probably have good information on others to lead us towards a lynch, and Scum might be able to control the vote at that point with his penalties. In the most recent game, he posted on day 1 only really in response to my constant pestering. Then on days 2 and 3, he posted nothing of substance. He was Scum in that game. In Holy Grail, he posted nothing of substance at all and had gotten 2 penalty votes (the system was the same one used here) He ended up being Vig'd. He was Town there. In the halloween game referred to earlier. Captain was non-participatory and was lynched as Town on day 1. He participated on Day 2 and was lynched as a win stealing PFK. His history of signing up and then not posting anything is a little irritating. I still don't understand why he joins games in which he doesn't bother to play.

I do my thinking "out loud" as I'm posting. Occam's razor serves me well, and in my view their actions are more likely to be town. On day one, scum can most safely act cautious and sit back as much as possible. It would be a safer scum move for Storyteller to keep his suspicion on me than to retract it. His suspicion was legitimate under the circumstances and his reason for retracting it didn't need to be offered. He wasn't acting guardedly, he was acting like someone genuinely following up a suspicion. As for Moley, I do not see many circumstances under which a scum player would pass up the opportunity to have a legitimate reason not to post. Scum sneak by, especially in the early days, by avoiding posting as much as possible. Please note I'm not saying they're "clear" or must be town. I'm saying I think it is more fruitful to investigate other people right now.

Urgh, dammit. I wasn't going to bother with pinkies in this game because of the mechanic, but you're right that leaving his fate up to that mechanic is not a good idea.
I think the runaway bandwagon on Ace is a bit out of proportion. I agree with those that chalk up her refusal to claim alignment as newbie confusion. I'll do some rereading today to see if anything other a LtL case pops up--I feel like I've been neglecting this game already.

@ Septimus, do you think Pinkies, or one of the other low posters, is more likely to be scum than your current lynch candidate, CIAS? If so, why not vote him rather than waiting to join a bandwagon? I don't currently have a strong scum reading on anyone. If forced to "make book" I might guess CIAS is 40% likely to be scum, 60% to be a Townie whose hard-hitting style will ultimately prove beneficial to Town, with Pinkies 33% likely to be Scum, and 67% to be a Townie whose non-participation will be a liability for Town. Accepting those numbers for the sake of argument, would Pinkies be a better Lynch candidate? I'm not sure. I've a question for you, guiri. In the last game we played (where I was Town and you 3rd Party) you had multiple posts where you complained, in effect, that my threshold for moving a Lynch vote was 4% and should have been 3%; and that mentioning a scum suspicion without moving one's vote was suspicious. Is this game going to be a replay of that?

So the only person that has NOT claimed their alignment and is a low poster, numbers wise is Paranoia. Will have to look through the boards to see what exactly they have added to the game.
I do tend to believe ACE093 that it was a newbie way. Not saying it is a mistake, because she stood her ground and stood out among the masses.
I am somewhat suspicious of Colby for asking Honest this early in the game if he was a Power role. The only way a power role that is town should come out early is if the actions or requirements of the role are pro-town, as in the Everafter Game on FB.
I have to say I have no idea why Cap Pinkies plays like he does. It gets him lynched more times then not. You would think that if you really wanted to play the game, you would change your play style or MO so that maybe you would stay alive longer, speaking in general.
CatInSuit brought up a valid question of Honest and it's too bad that he cannot respond now. The question of why ask the MOD for a lifting of the restrictions, if you are not in jeopardy of being lynched. What was the so called emergency to have that lifted, I don't think anyone was even calling you out on being a lurker. In the last game I was silenced for a day, could not even talk fluff and I would of never imagined asking the MOD to lift that restriction. I know you can not reply, so my vote will not be for you. Would like to hear why you asked for it to be lifted.
have to get back to do a little bit of work prior to the end of the day. Will post more when I get home.

Ok, after I've said I suspect Archangel because of his "buddying" with Storyteller, I doubt he'd do the same thing with me so quick if he was actually scum. On that basis, and his prolific posting, I will Unvote: Archangel[/b]. I will read back for new suspicions. My thoughts on Ace stand though. I think she's newbie town, not newbie scum.

@ Special Ed, I view the final vote mechanism mainly as an encouragement to participate and, only in extreme cases, as a method of inactive player removal which, in the late stages of the game, would hurt Town if the player is not scum. If Pinkies has no intention of participating, I'd suggest he ask to be subbed out so another player can contribute to the game.

Vote Septimus I'll go through this point by point. (a) I agree here. When I'm Town, guiri thinks I'm scum. (b) This is scummy why? (c) This is scummy why? (d) False, I think. But even if true, so what? (e) I thought people who voted Nader instead of Gore in 2000 were wrong, no matter how much they liked Nader. Get the point? (f) I don't think I implied the "contentment" you implied I did. And, BTW, I was Town in that game. I'm within a millimeter of moving my vote to you, guiri.... Hmmm. You were not Town in the previous game where you were smudging me, either. Ah, heck. CAIS is 40% to be scum, and you may be only 39.5% to be scum, but since none of your reasons for voting me make sense, I'll give you a real reason: Unvote: CatInaSuitVote: guiri

I'm not sure I follow this bit. Are you saying that you're unwilling to vote for a player if you suspect you'll be the only one to do so? CAIS had only one prior (retracted) vote; guiri had zero; so your paraphrase of my tactics seems ... exaggerated. In my earlier post which led to guiri's vote against me, I actually guesstimated percentages for CAIS's and Pinkie's scumminess, and solicited help on the voting decision. I indicated that CAIS might be the better Lynch candidate but, since no bandwagon was likely to build on him, indicated that I'd move my vote were a bandwagon on Pinkies to develop and make my vote relevant. This seems extremely straightforward to me. If I'm wrong, and it's generally judged scummy reasoning, please explain to me why. Game mechanics mean I can vote only one player even if two seem scummy. Is the suggestion that I should have unvoted CAIS, voted Pinkies, unvoted Pinkies, and then re-voted CAIS to make my suggestion that Pinkies might be scum official? And BTW, if anyone (perhaps you Honest Moley ), besides guiri, can explain how guiri's "reasoning" to vote me makes any sense at all, please do so. The dots just aren't connecting for me. My best guess is guiri is indulging some OMGUS against me, but I know I'm Town, and that guiri's post is anti-Town, whether he knows it or not.
