The game is not open. We don't know the number of Scum, we don't know whether Masons can communicate nor what powers they may or may not have, we don't know whether the Vigilante is mandatory or optional (a MAJOR element in balancing and thus guessing at number of Scum). We collectively don't even know the Scum win condition.
The game isn't open. It's partially open. That's OK; we've all played partially open games before, and the world hasn't ended. I don't particularly enjoy the idea of spending the game trying to haggle information out of the mod, you know?

Just catching up.... I'm intrigued at the term rabids having been used when I haven't seen it in my PM... That's not to say that someone doesn't have it in theirs.
I've been caught out before when I omitted something from a list (well I didn't omit I just used a different point of reference to get the list) So I know how easily it could happen.
Interesting points on both sides of the argument though.

Rereading and rereading... Interesting that the cop claimed, it will be probably one of the most useful roles for Town since all of the scum seems to be vanilla.
The Town Vig may want to not attack unless he or she is absolutely certain of their target. They could bring the game to a very short end if they miss (or take out the Doctor by accident)

I don't particularly enjoy the idea of spending the game trying to haggle information out of the mod, you know? I agree that it's OK. And, aside from my questions in Night 0 (which I thought were legitimate questions to be asked as the game started). I have addressed the moderator twice. 1. I asked for a rules/players list. when that didn't happen, I created a post that gathered together what I could find of the rules to make any checking in the future easier. 2. I asked for clarification on when the Days end regarding Day Night Savings time. Now, as to my paranoia, yes, I'll admit that when I asked if the roles given were the only roles, I was expecting a simple "Yes" not a "no comment." When I asked if the Scum had powers, I expected a "No" not a "no comment." So, as the Day began, I was a bit more cautious about the no Scum have powers thing, because despite how clear it might seem that Meeko was in Night 0 Post 21 (is that correct? I'm not going back to check), I have a history of thinking Meeko was saying one thing while he was saying another. Also, later I did get a little bit ruffled when the moderator came in and told me to play instead of asking hium questions in response to a post where I was addressing my thoughts to other players and not to him. So, yeah, I can see how that might have come off as less than pleasant, especially when he was so [sarcasm] gracious [/sarcasm] as to tell me that he wouldn't mod kill me.

No, for heaven's sake, the Doc shouldn't claim. Neither should any of the other Town Power Roles.
I am moderately in favor of the Cop outing himself given what we know, though I should probably be beating him with a trout. Because I think I said I'd do that.
Moody -- that first sentence in your post? Nice smudge, nice trying to encourage others to vote where you're not willing to put your foot down, nice example of why I almost always think you're Scum.

Day 1 seldom sees earthshattering vote reasoning.
That stated I’ve got a sniggle about Trepa Mayfield
D1.18 He “introduces “ the term “rabids” for the Scum team
That could be a a natural thought progression from the colour Night 0-or- a slip of the keys using a term that may be in the Scum PM’s.
D1.23 He “wonders” about the Mason’s ablility to communicate
It could be just making conversation (which hunts no SCUM) –or- a bit of a fishing expedition ?
D1.58 He tosses a vote at guiri for not participating (randomly chosen?) About 29 hours into D1.
With all our different time zones I generally wait until over 24 hours have elapsed on the first Day before I even start “counting heads”. It ‘sniggles’. Lynching the quiet teaches us little to nothing on Day One.
Each one of these bits alone can be countered but together they ping me at this point outrun Trepa Mayfield

Day 1 seldom sees earthshattering vote reasoning. That stated I’ve got a sniggle about Trepa Mayfield D1.18 He “introduces “ the term “rabids” for the Scum team That could be a a natural thought progression from the colour Night 0-or- a slip of the keys using a term that may be in the Scum PM’s. I've addressed this before, but this is seriously a stupid accusation. Meeko has said, repeatedly, that there is a rabies outbreak in the color of the game. Scum have rabies, therefore they are rabid. Rabids. Same difference. If you're going to make a nickname for the scum, it makes sense to use a collective noun. The Silent Pigs. The Shills. The Zombies. Scum is about as short as it gets, so any nickname for scum should be about as short. Thus, Rabids. Nice use of "scare quotes", btw. What is this, daytime television? D1.23 He “wonders” about the Mason’s ablility to communicate It could be just making conversation (which hunts no SCUM) –or- a bit of a fishing expedition ? What, are you "accusing" me of "being" a "mason" now? If I were a Rabid (which I am not), I would be just as non-knowing about the masons as if I were a 'niller or doc or vig. And you tell me how to "hunt SCUM" when you're 23 posts into the game. In order to hunt scum you have to start conversation. Duh. Unless you'd rather me throw around random votes? D1.58 He tosses a vote at guiri for not participating (randomly chosen?) About 29 hours into D1. With all our different time zones I generally wait until over 24 hours have elapsed on the first Day before I even start “counting heads”. It ‘sniggles’. Lynching the quiet teaches us little to nothing on Day One. Oh wait I guess you wouldn't. As I said, the reason I started voting people is because we were "going around in circles". No-one had voted, people were going back and forth on the set-up, but no-one had stuck their neck out about anything. So I decided to. And it worked, apparently, since you're voting me for it, but jeez is that a shoddy case. You've got a big pile of nothing, and all it illustrates is how most of the conversation today has been so soft and fluffy and safe.

@ Sister Coyote could you point out who I am supposed to be smudging with the "First" Sentence of my post ??
I don't even mention any names... I just say that I don't have the term in my PM but others might. Or am I now smudging the other 19 players in the game ?
I also see no point in it where I apparently "encourage" others to vote...
I say there are interesting arguments on both sides... yes it's sit on the fence.... yes it's not jump on a bandwagon.
It's Day 1 and I'm just passing on my thoughts..

Just quotes as far as I know. I’d never heard the negative sounding prefix before. (wondered if it had a mafia connotation)
My usage was not inappropriate – so why the hub-bub?
When I used a word that might not quite be the correct term but is close to it (IE “introduced” because it had been the first time I’d seen it used here. “wonders” because I was paraphrasing)
Or a Direct quote of a word (i.e. “ Rabids” since that is the word that was used)

Hm. Lots going on, not much to hang on. A lot of the "arguments" I see are recognizable play styles in the relevant players.
FWIW, I believe Ed's characterization of why he was questioning Meeko. I also suffer from occasional total communication breakdown with him, and I believe that he was genuinely frustrated by Meeko's answers, while Meeko was frustrated with getting repeatedly questioned when he thought he was being clear.

After reading this several times, it just stinks of newbie Scum. Wasn't it Trepa who used "rabid"? guiri actually voted for that reason. (Unless my recall has gone faulty) {And, what's odd is when guiri asked Trepa if he 'coin[ed] the term' Meeko actually answered that the phrase was correct before Trepa replied.} But, in any case, despite the faulty accusation, what bothers me is the wishy-washiness of this vote. "It might not be voteworthy, [but vote anyway]" because of his defense." Um, except that guiri obviously never defended the use of the term. Anyway, couple that with the drive-by smudging of yours truly, and I think this is starting to get close to 'voteworthy' ~~~~~~~~~~~ As an aside, if cassidy does flip Scum, I think this would add a little bit of Townie cred in my mind for both Trepa and guiri as I don't think a teammate would have gotten them confused.

I don't think Ed looks particularly scummy at the moment and I tend to agree with him that if you are going to vote for someone you should get your facts right about who said what.
Trepa did ping me with his use of the word Rabids, I hadn't heard it mentioned before and I didn't think that would the logical name for them. The Mod said they were infected with rabies, he could have called them anything, bats, mad dogs...... the list could go on and on. The Cop is called an Elephant, my PM gave me an animal name so I am very skeptical of his claim that this was normal thought progression.
