If there were no Night 0 actions.... then how can Silver Jan possibly know what others have in their PM's ??
Also IF she is a Mason.... (though she denies this) why do people think she would be Nk'd tonight ?
Ok typing that and thinking as I went... she'd only be Nk'd IF over Mason had not come forward to verify her claim... thus allowing SCUM to false claim the next Day...
It's really too early here..
And Fubbs ... congrats on the new addition to the family. Happy tha they're all doing great...

Am I the only person in this game who didn't read Jan's posts as being a Mason claim? I didn't Nor I. I thought she was talking about something else entirely, but I can see how Trepa might have interpreted it as a soft mason claim.
W.H.A.T.? That was not the Q. The convo was about the detective sharing results. claims are a different animal - pun intendedThe conversation started with mason claims, which I thought were a bad idea. I added as an afterthought that detective results were in much the same category and I didn't see any reason to share them immediately. Based on your questions, I revised my opinion to say that if we have a mandatory vig, they should be shared immediately. I still maintain that cleared townies are more important towards the end of the game. If the detective clears one townie every Day, and the scum kill that townie every Night, we end up with no advantage at the end. Unless and until our cop thinks that he might die before he can tell us who is clear, I think he should remain quiet about cleared townies.

The other mason would counter-claim and we would have caught a SCUM. Please let's give the SCUM that opportunity! If a mason has to expose himself, wouldn't it be better to take a scum out with you?

Post by Colby11 on Jul 2, 2011 1:29:32 GMT -5
The masons should not claim, for the simple sake that the scum would have 2 less town to go through to find the Doctor and the Viglante. Assuming that there are 5 scum, and since our Cop has claimed, that leaves 14 more people to find 4 roles.
That does lower the chances for Scum to find the Vig and/or Doctor (4/14 vs 2/12, or 2/7 vs 1/6 when you reduce said fractions)
OOG I will not be back until after the end of the day, because of the camping trip mentioned earlier, plus I have a funeral to go to (it's been a long week).
end OOG
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend, and hopefully I'm around for Day 2.

PS, Interesting catch on colby's flip-flop. Was it a flip-flop, though? I'm not so sure. At first, colby says he has no problem with Trepa's use of the word 'rabid' as a collective for the Scum in this game. A day later, he says that after thinking about it, the circumstance regarding the use of the word, and the fact that Trepa uses both 'scum' and 'rabids' in the same post bothers him, and so he votes. I don't consider that so much a 'flip-flop' as a 'change of mind after giving the matter closer consideration'. The former might be a Scum tell (though Town is very often guilty of it as well); the latter is good Town play (though Scum will ofter do the very same thing). In short, I don't see anything terribly wrong with colby's statements, and even if I did, I don't think it would necessarily mean much of anything. Thank you Suburban Plankton, for clarifying what I was trying to say earlier. After rereading that first post, it did seem odd to me how it was used. Not because of the term, it was the usage of said term.

That does lower the chances for Scum to find the Vig and/or Doctor (4/14 vs 2/12, or 2/7 vs 1/6 when you reduce said fractions) I'm not sure I'm understanding what you are saying. Assuming 5 Scum: Situation 1: We lynch Vanilla Town toDay (14-5) If the Masons out themselves (and the Scum still shoot for the doctor): 3 outed Town: Cop = 2 Masons Chances of Scum NK'ing 1 Doctor 1/11 or 9% 1 Vigilante 1/11 or 9% 9 Vanilla 9/11 or 82% If the masons don't out themselves: 1 outed Town: Cop Chances of Scum NK'ing 2 Masons 2/13 or 15% 1 Doctor 1/13 or 8% 1 Vigilante 1/13 or 8% 9 Vanilla 9/13 or 69% We want Scum to kill vanilla, we've reduced those odds from 82% to 69% Situation 2: We lynch Scum toDay (15-4) If the Masons out themselves (and the Scum still shoot for the doctor): 3 outed Town: Cop = 2 Masons Chances of Scum NK'ing 1 Doctor 1/12 or 8% 1 Vigilante 1/12 or 8% 10 Vanilla 10/12 or 83% If the masons don't out themselves: 1 outed Town: Cop Chances of Scum NK'ing 2 Masons 2/14 or 14% 1 Doctor 1/14 or 7% 1 Vigilante 1/14 or 7% 10 Vanilla 10/14 or 71% This isn't as bad, it only drops from 83% to 71% ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Of course, none of this even considers the fact that the Scum need the Masons dead. They're confirmed Town. Scum can't leave them alive. Scum also needs the doctor dead so they can kill the Cop. They're in more of a pickle. They also need the Vigilante dead before we move into EndGame because a Vigilante can remove unconfirmed Town quickly. ~~~~~~~~~ So, sure, there's a downside, but to completely ignore the upside is foolish.

Oh for goodness sakes, this is getting totally out of hand now. My PM said that I was a Lemming which is this games version of Vanilla Town. By this I took it to mean that all Vanilla Town were Lemminings so by the same token I would have thought that all Scum would have the same name because they didn't have a Power Role! Not really, unless the Mod has forbidden such things. Not strictly against it, but in general, as mod, and as player, I am against ""solving"" a game over playing it. It's a slippery slope - if the posting of PMs doesn't satisfy, soon you will ask for all the scum to out themselves. But, no, I didn't forbid it.

That has been answered I’m still having problems with that and have commented on it That does not work for me . More likely a Day lynch if claiming with out the ‘other’ confirming. a smart Mason would have left a crumb somewhere for the other to use to verify their “masonness” ~snipped~

It may be nothing, But, we have a fair collection of players that are usually verbose and helpfull (in my limited experience)that are very low posters this game. Not an advocate of kill the quiet myself but I thought it was note worthy as we are nearing end of Day
Fair warning- I have a few questions for a few players that have not been answered- I'm not sure I like the "easy lynch" (I know my case I still believe in but) My vote may change

Congratulations, Fubbleskag! He's gorgeous, and I hope mother and child are doing well.
In game, I'm at an impasse now. I still think Trepa is a good lynch for today. He's either lying (which seems more likely) or telling the truth (in which case he's "only" vanilla town and we will learn something from his lynch).
Short WOW on Colby coming up. I noticed two odd things in his posts.

Argh. There I go thinking while typing again. I was writing "I'm at an impasse now" because I have 2 other people I'm mildly suspicious of but I"m not sure it's pro-town at this point to point out the reasons why. But one of them was Colby and when I reread his posts I noticed ANOTHER thing that made me suspicious. So in his case I am going to do so. The other one I'll keep quiet about for the time being.

It may make me look scummy to say so, but it isn't against the spirit of the game to ask people to post their whole role PM? To reply to your scummy question, I will give a scummy answer. Sometimes the Mod gives Scum a "model role" so that they do look like Town. I am referring to my last game and not this game! Meeko might not have done it but in the last game I played I was scum and I had a pretty good cover, I might have got away with it too if it hadn't been for Normal. Where is she by the way?
