I'm putting my 2nd vote down for Ginger, though that seems like pissing in the wind. Vote GingerSORRY SORRY SORRY, I forgot I even signed up. I will play!!!!! SORRY going now and catching up. Lightfoot just gave me a swift kick in the rear, thanks Lightfoot12 minutes reaction time = reading the thread and intentionally lurking. Even if you don't lynch her today, never forget this for the duration of this game, and don't allow her to ultimately survive it. You can't. Not after that. Just to respond to your questioning my response time. www.facebook.com/groups/24652112609/If I had been lurking, i would not be so lost in Day 1 as I am now reading it...

It's a sad, sad day when MHaye posts faster than I do. Some thoughts on the Day before I step away from the computer. It's almost 12:40am and I work tomorrow. The trouble is, I have not voted. At this point, all I can say is that I won't be voting for ATPG, JustBeingGinger, KidV or Pleonast. (Subject to change if additional evidence emerges). ATPG: - On the one hand, he's put a lot of work into thinking about the game, is running around and adopting a high profile, trying to get people to think. On the other hand, he's voting for two players picked essentially at random, while at the same time proclaiming that JBG is a Mafiate, as proved by her sudden arrival on the scene when challenged. This is not well founded, ime. Also, he's indulged in linking - the claim that if one player is Mafia, so is another (an alternative position is "either A or B is Mafia, so let's lynch one and find out which is which). Lastly, this reminds me of a game he played on Giraffe, when he was unequivocally Mafiate, but pulled the wool over everyone's eyes. On then gripping hand, I'm not sure what to make of his "I need two Nights to prove her a Mafiate” shtick. After all, if he's expending a power to get an answer, the reliability of that answer depends on ATPG's alignment. That's far more negatives than I thought was going to appear. I'll sleep on the question of a vote for ATPG. KidV: - I can see his thought processes if he were in fact Town. A player known to have an investigation at his disposal is a target for secretive groups. Playing shell games with them is a good idea. The trouble is that you could apply that argument to Mafiates too. The high bid for services on N0 implies some sort of confidence in the ability to avoid the lynch; this could imply clandestine support, but that was not in evidence on Day 1. JBG. I hand her the standard 50' coil of rope. Pleonast. I'm up and down on Pleo. On the upside, he's adopted a reasonable method of maximising the chance he can investigate the same player he did on N1. On the down side, I'm still chary about the idea that he continues to participate in the game after winning if he retains his third party alignment. But I'm willing to see what he has to say Tomorrow. I'll sleep on who to vote for. Back early tomorrow, assuming I don't sleep through my alarm.

I'm not freaking out over the Ginger/Lightfoot thing, but I am concerned. There's a thick black line that you don't cross regarding offboard communication regarding the game, and it was crossed.
I trust Pollux to do what he feels is best, meta-wise, and will henceforth confine myself to the in-game implications. ATPG has a point - is Lightfoot poking all the lurkers? Why Ginger? And why the immediate response to pressure votes? I don't know that it's enough to establish scummitude, but it smells funky.

Colby11 - This post is bugging me: Colby is basically telling us here that we better pick one target and pile on, or else we risk having 'our choice' overruled. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet: I don't know what sort of motivations to ascribe to it. More in a bit, after I ponder a few things more carefully. Given the heat KidV got around using the Merc, it's probably fair to say that folk are unlikely to come forward and say they won. I could read Colby's post as: - Colby voted 6 - So the winner must have voted at least 7 - so for the lynch to succeed and the merc winner not to be lynched, there needs to be at least 8 votes on the lynchee I could also read it as: - Colby voted 6 or 7, won vote, and is currently in the noose I am honesty debating whether to get rid of her too. The longer this game goes, the more problems she presents because she isn't here or is inactive Really? we have a lack of information, and you consider her a problem? that lynch the lurker will provide the town with useful information? [/quote] If I was in the noose, I would claim. Right now she is/was not a problem, but later in the game she COULD present a problem.

Re: the Lightfoot/Ginger issue, she posted something on FB about it. I see it, and I don't see anything wrong with it, personally. She did not put any information about the game into the post But if her post resulted in Ginger showing up here when she wouldn't have otherwise, then she's changed the gamestate through outside communications. Who knows what percussions that will have? Aaaand I just failed to shut up about it. I'll try again. I will henceforth confine myself to the in-game implications, for reelz this time.

I responded to the post right away due to a facebook notification and then came straight here.

Snips: So, I made a comment about something that I did not completely understand, a discussion was prompted that made it clear what I did not understand was innocuous. OK, maybe it's a difference in playstyle. Rather than asking wombat about her comment, rather than stating why you find it suspicious and whether or not it's vote-worthy, rather than showing interest in wanting to decide to be impressed or suspicious, you simply say: "I'm either very impressed or very suspicious that you (seemingly) so easily understood Guiri's toe stub comment." with no further comment? I got the result I was looking for.... And that's my point, you didn't ask about her post. Well, your got me there. I did not ask about her post. He'd just said that he was less verbose than normal and would be chattier at Night, you check the post count and notice it's true, great. Why post the % post count unless you were trying to make a point, however subtle, about the drastic change in volume and the possible implications of a player who lurks during the Day but is hyperactive at Night? It was just a response to his post. I had no point. I did the calculations to confirm my impression (beyond the confirmation that PizzaGuy had already supplied) and having the numbers at hand I tossed them in. I suppose I thought that PizzaGuy would find them interesting. Yes, I do want to find Scum. I would argue your laundry list of "suspicious" posts by me is largely made up of me trying to find Scum. Have I found any yet? No. No? I do not understand your question. As I said before, I do not know if any of the people discussed are Town or Scum. But as of now, I have no reason to believe any of them are Scum.

<snip> I think PizzaGuy makes a lot of sense. I particularly agree with his assessment of KidV. I believe it is far more likely that KidV has done more than anyone else to advance Town's agenda than it is that he is Scum. He won the services of the Merc at what turned out to be great risk, and so prevented Scum from getting them, and then he (it would seem) drew the Scum shot and by self protecting prevented (it would seem) a Town from dying last night. Hi there! While I agree that KidV is more likely Town than not, your reasoning here is circular: KidV is likely Town because he's advanced the town wincon because he prevented scum from getting the merc and drew the scum shot and prevented a townie being killed. <snip> Hi back at ya. At the risk of being accused of pretending I am dumb...I do not see the circle. In one theory he could have saved the town two lives. In another theory, he saved zero lives. But I am at a loss where the circle is.

to respond to all with this one. I forgot Ginger was was even in the game untill the interest toDay
Since she had not posted anything at all I sent a note to the public forum that we have both met mafia games at.- there was no private conversation
I didn't even remember her last name so I asked if anyone could get a hold of her- assuming that she didn't even know the game was on.
I have no clue what her alignment is, but a dead weight is a negative- let her have rope? IMO a player that does not post at all becomes a bigger liability ( do we just lynch them? ) than one that pops in.
I'm not sure what other details I can share on this issue but I did not think it was counter productive or against the rules- I suppose the Mod will clarify that for me.
many of us here play other games other places and we may interact there-( in this instance- I posted to the general group she replied -full stop ) if it's not this game specific I don't see it messing with the letter of the laws. there are many players that might have social network accounts that I talk to every day but that's not with their character names so I don't know if they all play Mafia or not

NETA how many times has a player 'in game' typed " hey what's yer nose- you're wanted on the (insert other board here) " This is a good point. It doesn't answer the question regarding why you felt the need to poke Ginger and not, say, gnarliecharly, who is nearly as conspicuous in his own absence...

Well, EOD is getting near.
Pleo is being Pleo. So it is a Null Tell.
Meeko is being Meeko, Null Tell.
I still believe that KidV's play is best explained when one assumes he is Town.
AskThePizzaGuy seems Town to me. He seems to be putting a lot of effort into getting us onto a productive track.
I'm voting for Colby. This is based on his vote for Patricia. I think that was a weak, opportunistic vote. This does not mean I will be voting him tomorrow (or that I won't). But right now, I think he is my best vote for Scum.
Vote: Colby11

Gonna go ahead and squash this bug before it gets out of hand.
This is what Lightfoot posted in the public LPP mafia group on Facebook:
As far as I'm concerned that isn't considered strategy or off-board communication, especially since I was about to ask myself if anybody knew a way to get in touch with Ginger since, as of yesterday, she had not even opened her role PM yet. No rules have been violated in my opinion.
That is all the information I am willing to give on the subject.

Well, EOD is getting near. AskThePizzaGuy seems Town to me. He seems to be putting a lot of effort into getting us onto a productive track. Productive?!? He has two completely RANDOM votes. Remember how well a Random.org vote went over in marathon? That's a big part of the reason for my vote on Pizza And let me explain to you again. Placing a completely random vote with no basis behind it except it's player 5 and 6 (I don't remember who you chose to pick on today) is really BS.

Random votes are proTown when used to promote discussion and argument, and his have. Random votes are antiTown when the voter drops them and walks away without using them to generate data.

Do I take that to mean you think Ginger's arrival is suspect? Or that if she flips as scum you're going to be voting to lynch me? To be honest, that is a recent enough development that I have not fully processed it. But no, I have no plan to vote to lynch you if Ginger flips Scum. I see PizzaGuy's point, but I do not share his certainty. There is the added factor of Lightfoot sending a nudge to Ginger. It would be more suspicious if she had showed up when she did without a nudge. From the sound of it, PizzaGuy has some method of investigating Ginger, a method that takes two Nights. So then we will "know." If she turns up Scum and we lynch her and she flips Scum, that only proves that Ginger is Scum. It does not prove that PizzaGuy is Town. And, Cookie, it certainly does not prove whether you are Town or Scum.

To be clear, the only issue you have is with my hunch that we have no scum? I'm not questioning your gut feeling. I don't see why you question mine. I removed my vote on you. I get what you are trying to say. Even if I wanted to "beat you up" about it, and I don't. You asked me, in so many words, to sit back and have things come to me, to sit back and watch. I have to remember that you are not Pleonast. You ask for benefit of the doubt. I don't recall you lying your ass off, so I don't see why I can't give you what you ask for. Thank you. No actually I don't think it's likely that we have zero scum, and even so, it's only semantics since we do have hostile third parties, who are the same thing. Exactly the same, different name. My only real criticism of your play is that, you're being a bit ineffective in your aims primarily because you were... hmm how do I explain this without exaggerating or being unintentionally insulting. It's one of those pick your battles things. I love an aggressive player, I am myself one of those. But I also know if I go guns blazing nonstop, eventually I become ineffective because it's too much noise and not enough targeted accuracy. Don't for one minute believe I want you to stop being honest with your feelings, or stop being aggressive. An overly timid town needs you. Just try to pick and choose your targets, and don't pick at everyone's arguments at once. It hurts you in the sense of people won't follow your advice afterward. 1. Most all of this comes as a net result of my ADHD 2.The remainder comes from Pleonast and his play in marathon. Marathon remains my best game, and I only got people to act because I ..... Was so aggressive, for want of a better word.

I'm just not feeling motivated to play this game. With all the lynch pleo or don't lynch pleo, it's frankly boring, and I am almost tempted to vote him just so he will cease to be the topic of conversation. I guess my lack of play only contributes to the topics of discussion not being that interesting.
Also, while I can't confirm the claim that the merc count is > 6. I can state categorically that it is > 4. I bid 4 just to see what's what with that. Just a piece of info.
Furthermore, at this time I still like my crys vote from yesterday so:
vote crys
Also, I call shenanigans on pizza's vote on ginger. The timing could be coincidence, or could be reactionary. It's possible to catch a vote during a reread. But the push push pushing of that candidate really irks me. Make your case and let it be fcs. The hard sell is a magicians defense. It's a look over here, not over there kind of tactic that really smacks of dishonesty.
vote Pizza
I need a closer reread of the day, but I'm not looking forward to it, and highly doubt that I'll get to it by the end of the day, so I'll probably re-skim, and then affirm or recuse my current votes.

Pizza doesn't have a vote on Ginger. He did talk about her sudden arrival as a red flag and discussed plans to try and determine stuff about her over the next couple of cycles, but he did not remove either of his previous votes.
