Yeah, Roosh, you're wiggin' me out. How can you FoS me, while asking for my help, that I can't provide.
And how does not highlighting atarus in your little chart make it more "aesthetic"?

The reason I didn't ask what "Laborer" meant was that if Tragic had some sort of power I was assuming story would put it in parentheses the way he did for drainbead's role, so the lack of any additional description seemed to suggest that she was just a Mafia goon. I guess if story answers sinjin's question we'll know for sure. CatInASuit - from the narrative color, it indeed doesn't sound like Kassia killed Tragic, but I'm not sure we can rely on the mod to give us that kind of information. This is the second time you're casting doubt on someone based on "color" alone. Unless you know something for sure, this is a fairly terrible way of determining the truth of a claim. FoS CatInASuit.Actually DeathByIrony, this is the one game where I think we are meant to appreciate the colour for the clues it contains. Unlike other games where it is just meant to be descriptive, I think storyteller is giving us a little more of a reveal each time something occurs. Just IMHO, and I will act according to that. If you think the colour is just that, colour, then so be it.

Okay, lemme answer some Qs: Oh dear, Roosh, Oh dear. For starters, from your figures, there are 9 replicants. Initially, there were 3 replicants decomissioned= 34%Pleonast makes 4 replicants = 45% Tragic + drainbead = 6 Replicants = 67% In terms of machines and stuff - you need Captain Klutz who from his roleclaim said I can examine devices and determine how they have been used. BAD math, CAIS. I STARTED out with a % of 34. THAT much was independent of replicants. Atarus has explained it better in his math: Yeah, Roosh, from your percentages it looks like there are 3 Replicants left in play, since each time the percentage goes up by 11%. 67 + 11 + 11 + 11 = 100%. This to me seemed obvious.... Where the hell would 3 replicants dead come from at the start of the game? But anyways, moving on. Capt.Klutz.... Can you do anything for Mechanical Devices? ie: DO YOU Have an abilities that you can use for them on another player? Roosh, do you have any idea if this was a scum visit or a third party visit? It'd be an odd coincidence if Pleonast made up a random ability/role-claim and it was actually a role/power in the game. A really, really strange coincidence. This was DEF. a BAD guy. I dunno if its scum or replicant. But it's someone that I KNOW has been after me from the start of the Game. As they have now found me. And it's bad. Well. Bad for me. Okay, I'm confused now. Roosh, are you some sort of Speculator too? No. And why did you address this to me last night? That wasn't directly addressing you, but more of referring TO you, as someone had stated that by mason's claiming at night, it would help you with your Pee-Gun, so you wouldn't waste time by shooting them. So it was stating that you might be thrown OFF by the fact that the masons may not claim, and thusly you may "waste" your gun on a mason last night, but I didn't care about that, I felt the greater good was in keeping the masons secret at night vs. Helping you out with that small piece of data. (In my mind, if did shoot a mason, well at least then you've helped to possibly confirm him anyways). Was this supposed to be addressed to me? I never saw any list of abilities for a Neuromancer. Perhaps you confused me with somebody else? Sorry, I was kinda in a panic when I saw what the start of the Day brought for me so maybe I was FoS happy. I just remember you were one of the people last night who kept asking about the #'s issue. And maybe I have you confused. It was someone who had been on the "Spectators" boards, and they had found a list of the Neuromancer's ability, that's the person I was asking about. If i had mistaken you for said person, I'm sorry. I just remember it had come up yesterDay with the Klutz discussions on his roles. Also, Roosh, wtf is this percentage you speak of? Did I miss something? No. I was being obtuse. But I guess I'll make my claim after this post. Hopefully that'll explain things. Why am I getting this strange " Top Dog" feeling. Roosh is mentioning bombs + timers which was Pleonast's false role claim which is best dealt with by Captain Klutz, when instead he goes begging to Santo Rugger for help. Not to mention his Maths is horribly wrong. I could understand 7 replicants in the game, in fact it fits neatly with what we know and surmise so far, but 9 replicants is pushing it to far, decomissioned or not. I think an explanation is required. I disliked this post. Just an FYI. Again with the bad math after Atarus mentioned it. I never stated 9. Nor did I mention Pleonast's role. And how does not highlighting atarus in your little chart make it more "aesthetic"? I was lazy when I realized that I hadn't italicized him, and I figured it was a funny joke to make at the state I was in. Anyways, I'll claim next to explain my % and my problem.

Post by RoOsh on Dec 23, 2007 19:08:22 GMT -5
Alright. My role is this: I am a Former Combat Medic.
I came to New Canaan seeking a new life after growing disgusted with my former one in the military. I still retained a few of my old skills though, and having discovered there is a replicant threat within our midsts, I'm taking them up again in order to help us out.
I have 2 primary issues from my PM, one's an ability, and one I just knew about: 1. My ability: I'm skilled in the art of military evacuations and field medicine. Each Night I can choose a target (it didn't specify Replicant or Human) to watch over, and should anything happen to them, I will try to pull them away from the danger and save them, however, I'm just a field medic and apparently not used to dealing with the replicant threat before, so I have to learn and study from them ways to deal with them and treating their victims. What's this mean? My take on it: Well. I'm kinda an impaired doctor role. I started out the game with a 34% chance of success. (Yes. It was explicitly stated: 34% in my role PM) So far, every time we've had a dead replicant, I get a PM from Story, telling me some flavor of I've remembered/learned something and usually a % increase. I've had 2 PMs so far: One telling me my skills were now 45% (when Pleo died) and the one this morning stating 67%. It's why I've been guessing theirs about 7 replicants. Atarus , you said 6, but I said 7 because of the Off-by-one error I compensated: Cuz I figured: 1. Why would I get to be a 100% doctor with NO Replicants left? 2. I'm a cynical bastard. That's why I figured 6 replicants is equal to me getting 100% effectiveness, but I believe there are 7 replicants left because what's the point of gaining 100% effectiveness if there isn't a chance of using it? But yeah. It's why I've felt there was a 6-7 replicants (Note I DON'T know alignment, as I got an increase from Pleo's death too, so I'm just going with dead robots = increase).
I haven't been protecting myself most of the time, and If you would like my PMs to storyteller, well I have them. Just someone (like 2 people or so at least) lemme know, and I'll post them here, you may get to see the pattern, but that's no longer my concern anymore. As far as I'm concerned, I'm gonna be protecting my own ass for the next day if i'm still alive (or AM I? :pulls out wine glasses)
My Win condition: I win when all the rogue replicants are dead, and I win with the town. I don't have to be alive, (but I really kinda wish I could be).
Anyways, yeah. That's part one of my role: I'm a medic, I treat people. But replicants are highly efficient killers, so I'm not that great at protecting vs. them. I also had another part of my Role PM that I wasn't gonna mention, except that it's been activated today.
2. My Dilemma (my words): The day the replicants atttacked, I woke up in a panic with a 'strange device' attached to my leg. Oh, and it blinks red. I was just told I had this strange device on my leg, and that I should lay low about it, as certain people would be VERY interested to know I had the device on me.
I didn't have any other real information in my initial PM from Story on that. Other than I knew there was a device on my leg, and it blinked. It's been there since the game started (as it's been in my Role PM). I was given no information on it/ if I could interact with it at that time.
Today, I got another PM from story (it was a separate one from my % PM). Apparently the device beeped and I heard it this morning. As I looked down, to my horror I saw that it now has a timer counting down from 36:00 hours.
Needless to say. This freaked me out. I sent off some PMs to Story, and got back some information. I uh... don't know what's gonna happen but whatever it is, I have 36 hours in the GAMETIME to figure it out. So according to Story, Day 7 at Dusk if I haven't figured out how to deal with the device, it "activates". And apparently it's bad. As my guy is put at un-ease by the device.
I PMed Story, and apparently I can try to use my combat skills and whatever % i've gotten to at this point to try to remove the device tonight. (But Klutz, if you have ANYthing that you can do about this um... situation. I'd GREATLY appreciate it too).
So uh. Yeah. I've got basically until Dusk tomorrow to fix this. ANY ANY ANY information/help would be GREATLY appreciated. Anyone know what to do in this situation? *coughs* anyone else in a SIMILAR situation-well you should keep your mouth shut. But uh. Yeah.... I think I'm on my own on this one.
But uh. Yeah. This is REALLY not the thing I wanted to find out before Christmas break really.... (-_-) I'll be back after midnight or so again. :sigh: this is MOST Uncool.
Lemme know if you want my PMs. They kinda have my thoughts in them, and who I've protected, but other than that  I think i'm fucked. I NEED for us to lynch a replicant toDay. I'd MUCH rather have the better odds tonight....

I assume I can treat myself for injuries. and I think I know how to run away from danger. *note, I don't consider this quoting the PM, Story, I'm just... pointing out words. Separately and in isolation. If I can, do you still want to see it, Roosh? Actually... No. Not unless You think it'd help me out in ANY way. Otherwise, I don't think you should reveal that sort of information. Especially if you only "know" the information because of a Previous role and you're only sharing it due to a substitution. I mean, I want to win and all... but I do have some honor here. And no one has anything to say other than Klutz? Really?

Well, I haven't got long until I'm gone for a few days with little to no access so my final thoughts as follows.
Kat v2.0 - Seeing as the Neuromancer powers were posted shortly after Captain Klutz's claim by myself, Day 5 #137, perhaps you would like to confirm that storyteller was not being evasive with the truth. If there is anything further to add from the role - don't.
Roosh: I do not believe your roleclaim. I am judging you by your actions and not your claim. You have spent the first part of this Day talking about your roleclaim, but have failed to answer the important question I left last Night.
What was your real reason for voting for Cookies on Day 5?

And you didn't answer who you were effective against, if not Replicants. I don't consider myself completely ineffective. I started out w/ a 34% chance to block. That's still a 1/3 chance to prevent a kill replicant or not. I've increased now to about a 2/3 chance to block kills. So just because I'm not 100% doesn't mean I'm ineffective. A 50% doc is still a Doctor, doesn't mean he's useless, ya know. And saving myself  I don't know. Again the pulling out thing, that was my words, don't get so litteral on just ONE word, dude. But i can select myself to watch out for as an option, so I dunno how you wanna think about it. But i can watch out for myself. And CaiS.... Post by RoOsh on Dec 24, 2007 11:20:13 GMT -5
Alright CaiS. You asked me why Cookies and Not you basically last night. Well, because I woulda voted to you or episode that Day had I gotten back. At that point a one off vote would have been silly in my mind (as you certainly wouldn't have been lynched by my one vote). And so I felt I should place my vote where it could do the greatest good: Against someone who I found suspicious and then we could go from there. Cookies was someone who supported Episode, unlike your interactions she felt Episode was acting quite townie. She also interacted with Episode on Day 1, but then afterwards, simply dropped the issue. She NEVER really talked about episode after that initial time period, until later into the game. That to me felt odd, and it certainly was a change in behavior. But what could cause that? Currently I'm of the mind that that would be the way to trace this Nexus - Look for players who've simply been inconsistent with their behavior, like a rapid change in actions or personality. Klutz had it w/ his no posting to a sudden increase in volume of posting. And Cookies had it with being vocal and buddy-buddy with Episode (who I felt was scummy), and then suddenly dropping the issue. So I felt I could pressure her with the vote until Episode would arrive back. Unfortunately, real life intervened and I never got to check back before Cookie's claimed. So i do end up looking really bad for it. That's fine. I understand that. But i even stated this when I voted for Cookies in my post #180: :sigh: So little votes so far. And I'm actually a part of it, which I never like being (Last 24 hours -_- ) :sucks in chest: Guess I gotta be a man, huh, and break the tie? I'm gonna go with Vote Cookies, rather than one-off vote or waste a vote. but I reserve the right to switch my vote to another one of the 3.When I made my vote, I felt like very little was happening, and we needed something to kick start the discussion. There had been very limited discussions and the voting had stalled. So I made my vote but I felt that I would be able to return and see what had happened later in the Day. That's why my vote was made, but I also asked Questions to all of my suspects, I wanted to hear back from them all to see what their replies would be, and from that I'd pick my most suspicious. I just didn't get back in time to change my vote. As for why "i didn't vote for the other two" well... I hadn't focused on them. I currently was suspicious of a group of people- those who had interacted with my suspect. Suddenly stopping and switching gears like that, is much easier said than done dude. So, even If cookies had claimed, I doubt i'd have managed a vote for Drainbead, simply because she wasn't on my list. You can call it saving the scum if you like, if you felt that my one vote was the key factor or not, but then again, I wouldn't be suspicious of you if you didn't say these sorts of things. I still feel you and Episode are the Two scummiest people around here. And your actions today in regards to my claim certainly have not allayed my suspicions. I never mentioned a bomb, and yet you jumped on that wording quite quickly.... And the math logic was just terrible coming up with the crazy amount of replicants. It was simply dismissive of myself. As for why I didn't vote for you back then? You were asking Questions, and you were forcing people to participate. I felt there was more good in that, and again, I didn't want to waste my vote. At this point in the game "marking someone as suspicious by your vote" "for the record" is just stupid and basically an excuse to give a one-off vote that doesn't matter. I just don't like it. That's all fine and nice early in the game so where if you die you can leave an information trail, but here, i think it's pointless. Vote for the most suspicious, but vote the way you think your vote can do the most good too. That's why I voted for Cookies, and waited to hear from all 3 of you. I just didn't get to finish up on my ideas and ended up with a vote on cookies. But i did tell you where my vote WOULD have gone if I had a chance rather than just shrugged and moved on.

So I'm going to be cruel to Roosh and start by looking at his claim solely in terms of what could happen.
If he's scum (by which I mean 'rogue replicant') : It would appear he's desperate to live at least one or two more Days. Suppose he is in fact trying to do something or accomplish something for the scum. If he succeeds tonight, he can claim he removed the device successfully. Otherwise he waits and nothing happens. We might know he's lying by then, but he gets two chances to finish up.
If he's pro-colony: He's probably telling the truth. It seems likely that the thing on his leg is going to kill him by the end of next game Day. And there's nothing we can do about it unless someone really has a power that will help him. We also don't know if the device might harm somebody else around him.
So there's a slight reason in favor of lynching him Today - he might be scum, and if he's not it might be better to lynch than to let the device activate. (Assuming the device doesn't activate if we lynch him.)
As a counter to this -
If he is pro-colony, he may be the only Doc-type role we have. There's a chance he can save himself tonight.
(That leads to the question of whether the device would still activate if we lynch him tomorrow, but I'll wait and see.)
Personally, I'm inclined to think he's scum. But I'm willing to let him live one Day as potential scum rather than take a chance and lynch what may be our remaining protective role.
OOG- Merry Christmas to all (who are celebrating it)!

Well, I'm willing to give Roosh the benefit of the doubt for now, so I'm going to vote CatInASuit v2 based on my FoS earlier. Merry Christmas - if I sound a little frazzled after tonight (IRL), it's because I would have had to deal with a room full of irate people all wanting to sit down Right This Moment when we've told them that the wait is going to be anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour.

I am finally back in the land of internet access. Need to do a major catch-up and when I have done that I will hopefully be able to post something substantive.

Even though it's Christmas-time It'd be nice to have a little bit more talk during the Day. I think we have only two days or less to go, right?
I'm sort of wondering why at least one Mason hasn't shown up (since it would really help to have more confirmed town at this point.) atarus, do you know if your fellow Masons have any reason they wouldn't want to claim?

Ok,
I've been thinking about the crazy Roosh role claim off and on all day and I just can't get my mind around why a scum would come out at the start of the day and make it. He made it when he was in no danger of being lynched. He could have have just went with his replicant number theory that he's been blathering about and asked for help with the maths. So for now I'm semi-believing him.
Which leads me to zuma2, who blows in here after not posting for over a week with a one liner and a vote for Roosh. No mention of his promised review of data, zip. Just a vote to lynch a potential back-up Doc. Not cool.
While I'm waiting for my computer to be fixed this afternoon, I will be using mrsin's computer to go over zuma2's posts.

Oh and toDay ends tomorrow at noon eastern time I think. If you all haven't found it there is a scheduling thread in the New Canaan Town Hall. I hope we have enough time for people to come in and cast votes and defend themselves if necessary. Just in case I don't get back in time I'm going to recast my vote: episodeofblonde

Okay, doing a real quick check-in on my cousin's computer on dial-up. If there are any tag mistakes or spelling errors I apologize 'cause I'm not gonna proofread since it took about 5 minutes just to load up the screen to type it in.
My quick analyses:
1. I believe Roosh's claim. It explains the no-kill yesterDay when Cookies protected me and nothing happened. Roosh, who did you protect that Night, and would it make sense for the Replicants to target them for a kill? Also, with your full claim I understand why you think there are 7 replicants total and I agree with your analysis.
2. I don't know why my other Mason(s) are not revealing, unless they have something on the side in terms of information like I did. It's their choice.
3. ZumaV2 popping in and voting for Roosh smells like a pile-on. If Roosh is a medic, we shouldn't vote for him since he's our only medic now that Cookies is gone. I've been slightly suspicious of ZumaV2 since his quick turn-around on Pleonast from his v1 form to his v2 form. This just makes me even more suspicious of him.
Since nobody seems to want to vote for Death By Irony, I will switch my vote to zumaV2 since I probably won't be able to check-in before the deadline tomorrow.
Unvote Death By Irony
Vote ZumaV2
Happy Holidays everyone.

Much as I'd rather not do this, it's pretty evident that everyone hasn't had a chance to stay up-to-date with the game over the holiday period. Accordingly, I'm going to extend Day Six by an additional 72 hours, so it will now end on Sunday, December 30, at 12:00PM or thereabouts.
