Day Two

Post by storyteller0910 on Jun 6, 2008 14:23:59 GMT -5
Hey, Roosh, look on the bright side: what I'm about to say might get me lynched or killed.
I have something to share. I have spent the entire Day trying to decide whether or not to share it. It constitutes a very substantial risk. But I'm going to do it.
<sighs>
At Dusk, something might... happen. I am not entirely sure whether it will or not, which is why I'm choosing not to reveal its nature just yet. But when it happens, you will know it. And it'll have been my doing, done during the Day.
This thing... it's going to seem... well, it's going to seem bad to a lot of you. I am telling you about this in advance because the nature of what might happen is such that, if it's connected to me by an enterprising investigator, could get me lynched. So I'm making this open appeal: I am on your side. My alignment and win condition are identical to the ones in the vanilla PM posted by atarus. Don't kill me.
I said my reveal is partly for that reason; it's partly for another.
I've never seen this done before, but I'm doing it. I hereby ask for protection from any Doctor, Guardian, or other protective role that might have it in his or her power to grant such protection. It is to the advantage of the Town to keep me alive, for a long time, if possible.
Now it is possible that the Scum have some power that lets them penetrate a protective ability, and will kill me in spite of being protected. If they do this, so much the better. I cannot and will not explain further, but the nature of what I can do is such that while I am worth protecting, I am not worth burning a one-shot superkill to get rid of. Fun, huh?
(If the scum have multiple superkills, then I'm screwed, but that's as will be).
<gulp>
To post or not to post?
To post.

This is the most bizarre game I've ever been involved in. Can't anybody give us a straight claim?
I'm not asking for one, just amused that nobody wants to lay all their cards on the table -- including storyteller, who just yesterDay asked everyone to leave their magic bags at home.

My gut feeling on Stardragonman. His Day 1 vote on Hockeyguy was an OMGUS vote, and SDM himself categorised it as such Today sometime. But, in his last post Yesterday, SDM said in post D1.368 that he had taken on board some of the arguments for Hockeyguy. In short, if he's telling the truth, the vote had ceased to be OMGUS. I'm wondering what thoose arguments were. Care top post a summary, even at this late hour? Secondly, earlier Today - D2.124 - he made an intriguing suggestion – that scum will be found among those leading the inquisition. Here's my challenge to you then, SDM. Name us a name. Tell us who you think it might be, and give us reasons why. It doesn't matter whether they're good or bad – they'll tell us a lot. You might open up lines of investigation and lead us to demons. If you don't survive, for one reason or another, then at least you'll have told us who you suspect, and our knowledge of your true alignment will put it into perspective. Will you help us, or are you one of them?

Roosh's thoughts: at this point, I'm quite frustrated with StardragonMan. He hasn't even bothered to log on in the last 24 hours, I know he can't vote and all, but still. He's just a perfect example of a Lurker right now, and I hate it- he posts only when provoked, and otherwise he's not really bothering to make an effort, EXCEPT to post the minimum at least. That's REALLY Frustrating to me as a player. He's got 5 votes on him, and the other big two up for discussion are Tdpats with votes, and FCoD with votes. They're active players who are PLAYING the game at least. I'm just really irked that lurkers are allowed to continue to just go under the radar while its the vocal ACTIVELY Players (scum or not) who are going to always be lynched. It just doesn't reward players who talk or TRY to PLAY the game... knowing that there are players out there who can just post the bare minimun, and can easily last into the middle to end game just because they've NEVER said anything or enough content to ever really get lynched. You have to end up leaving those players for a Vig or a SK or Scum to take off.... And that just blows. At this point, I'm just pissed at this game's activity levels and the way people have been TRYING to play, but there are others out there just doing NOTHING. It's fucking frustrating. I understand life happens, or if you're new to the game or whatever.... But not even checking the threads in the last 24 hours right before a lynch? Jesus fucking christ. It pisses me off.... I just wanted to get that off my chest I guess. I'm sorry for not being around the last 24 hours, I'll address that in a moment, but first, let me say this, FUCK YOU ROOSH. I don't know what the hell your problem is, you piece of shit, but I obviously hit a nerve when I compared you to Neo-Conservaties and Joseph McCarthey. Scanning over your activity in the last 2 days, you have accused numerous people of being scum, only to retract. In the "real" world, such neurotic behavior is often associated with liars and false prophets. I still maintain that YOU are a scum but since you've played for quite some time, people might keep you for meta-game reasons. You ultimately settled on voting for me, why? Is it truly because fo my "lack of activity." Newsflash, dipshit, I have admitted that I suck because I'm a newb, but I have tried to be active. There are people who have been FAR less active than me this round, and yet you single me out, why? Oh yes, I know why, BECAUSE AI ALREADY HAVE 5 FUCKING VOTES. It's an easy way to avoid one of your buddy scum friends from being killed. And your excuse is a good one. Need I remind everyone that he was the one who did not want to vote Hockey because he thought Hockey was just a newb??? Well, why is he suddenly targetting me because I'm a new? That's INCONSISTENCY RIGHT THERE.As for my absense... yesterday afternoon, I collapsed at work due to heat exhaustion and was rushed to the hospital. Thankfully, I'm OK now but I was scared there for a moment. Due to the fact that my health was in danger, I couldn't post. Sorry if I'm not "commited" as you are Roosh, you fucking dirt bag, next time I'll tell God, or whever deity you believe in, to make sure I'm not sick.

What you're doing at dusk wouldn't happen to prevent the lynch would it? No? Damn.
/wishful thinking
But since I'm still around and active to comment on story's claim, all I have to say is don't take the fact that it's story for granted. The better a player is the more objectively you have to analyze his actions, because there's a danger of assuming they'd never do something when they're the ones most capable of doing anything. That aside... I don't think he's fibbing. If he is, well, then he's done it in such a way that I still buy it.

Plus, when Hockeyguy got defensive, he started becoming really inconsistant in his attacks, and that just gave me a bad vibe.

Well, I'm an active poster and I've received no votes or suspicion at all in two Days. There's also the fact that I've been targeted on Nights One or Two in about three-quarters of the games that I've played so far. I could have risked it, but I decided to be proactive.

He was basing his attacks, not on behavior, but on activity (which, I might add, has been better than some).

Yeah, despite my "I HATE YOU ALL" nonsense, you can't take votes or suspicion personally. There's so much we can never know about each other that can cause friction or incorrect assumptions. The game is essentially (from my limited experience) one of logic and trust (or lack thereof, often in both cases).
SDM, it sucks to hear that you were incapacitated yesterday, but if you can't see how an outsider with no particular knowledge of your exact situation would get pissed by your (or anyone else's) lack of contribution, then I have to say that your reaction is the one that is more suspicious.

You claim to have have information. You claim that information is linked to your role. You clearly are claiming not to be a vanilla survivor. Maybe this is just a difference in terminology, but to me anybody who is not vanilla(and isn't scum) is a power role. Then it's a difference in opinion. When I say claim, I'm referring to something more than a vague reference to what may or may not be a power role. I'm talking something more substantial, like Ryjae claiming certain powers and titles, or story's semi claim he just made. You obviously have a broader view than I do. So be it.

Let me think out loud for a second:
It looks like it is going to come down to TD or SDM. I don't like either of these lynch choices. I just re-read TD's posts, and I don't see scum. I am going to re-read SDM's posts and see if I see scum, but I don't think I will.
I have a few people hovering around my top suspicion spot,
Hawk is one of them (I find it interesting that he never responded to my vote on him at all. But he did add me to his list of people he would not vote for after I voted for him)
Roosh and Blocky, are my other two top contenders though Blocky has fallen down my list since I voted for him. His response seemed decently townie.
I am a bit nervous about talking about my thoughts on a few people who are playing in my game on the dope, because I have some metagame reasons for my feelings on a couple of them and I really don't want to give anything away accidentally (as I have in the past).
I may leave my vote as a one off. I don't know if I can push someone I feel is probably town over the edge to a lynch over another person I also think is probably town.
I am going to take another look at SDM.

More thoughts on story:
* Unless he's somehow going to get lynched for his claim, I'm not sure discussion actually matters at this point, any opinions we arrive at will have to be modified after this dusk action, right?
* What matters if that if there's a doctor they read the post and made a decision. They obviously shouldn't talk about this. I don't have to say how screwed the town might be if the doctor is one of the non-participants.
In addition, if what story says is true about it never having been done before, then we don't even have any basis for hypothetical discussion (unless we want to play the assumption game, in which case I'm still not sure how far we could get based on your post's info alone). If I wasn't about to get whacked, I'd be taking a "let's see what happens at Dusk" approach.
Hey NAF, I have to ask - the fact that you said you didn't "understand" the case against me kind of bugged me a bit at the time, but I let it go. I mean, I'm sure I've said this before, but I know I'm town and I can see the case (however wrong it may be). If you read through my posts and determined that I seem townie, could you elaborate as to why?

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm still not sure what it means we're supposed to discuss. The likelihood that story is lying through his teeth? Meh, I'd still want to see the dusk action first. It'd be no use FOSing because it's pretty clear he's painted that target on himself already.
I'm not against discussing story's claim, I just don't know what I can say about it without knowing what this dusk action is.
