Yay! I think this is the first time I've had a pfk-3rd party-godfather-suvivor-unwatchable-serialkiller-bomb-type role!
I could win win either Town or Scum or on my own, if one of the last 3 players. I investigated as Town. I could kill with 0 snacks, kill and not be watched for 2 snacks and massacre a whole room of players for 4 snacks!
I think this beats the vig-mason role I shared with TexCat in Crossed Destinies.
Great game Julie, thanks!

This was fun! Way to go, Townies.
@GnarlyCharlie: I'm not sure I did much. I don't think my Scum hunting skills were very sharp this game. It might have been because the Scum weren't very vocal.
For the record, I thought most of you were Town, except I was suspicious of Guiri, simply because he's the Towniest player, even when he's Scum. I didn't really figure him for a PFK, though.

The link at the bottom of my previous post will take you to the spoiler board. In the section labeled Setup there is a thread titles Scum and Mason Boards. It contains the necessary links. (Note: permissions may not have been removed so you may not be able to view it without registering and getting approved. The only person who can do that is Julie and by the time she gets back it will probably just be easier for her to make the boards viewable to all rather than approve a bunch of accounts. Either way, you'll probably have to wait a while to read it.

Did peeker ever show anywhere? or is he still mia?

No, he appears to be seriously MIA. I'm quite concerned and have done just about everything except cyberstalk him. I believe I know what city he lives in, and have searched the newspapers in that city for his name. I do have what I believe is the phone number for his place of business, but am reluctant to call it.
I don't know him personally, and feel just a tad uncomfortable calling and asking for him, and then telling the other person that I only know him online.
As far as I know, he does not have a Facebook account.
The weird part is, I actually have a legitimate business reason for wanting to talk to him, because we make a software product that could very well benefit his company.

Myself I would be tempted to use the business reason as the excuse to try . Business people meet online all the time.
I don't know him but from here this game , but I am concerned a bit too

He and I had some fun. When Ed told me I should have breadcrumbed the other Mason's actual name, I almost replied with ...
Counting on a killer, Special? Really?
(where the LAST letters of each word spelled out "gnarly").
However, I thought Ed would take it that I was being a jerk and start a bandwagon on me.
I love the challenge of trying to come up with actual sentences where the breadcrumb can be at the beginning or end of the word.

I doubt I'd start a bandwagon on a claimed mason.
So, I was completely wrong all game, eh?
Was the Scum board really quiet this game?
Great set-up Julie. And well played, guiri, quite an interesting role you had.

Relatively quiet. Once storyteller and FCoD were gone it really clammed up.

I'm in Albuquerque now. Thanks, Inner, for posting the final post. When I planned moving, I certainly didn't expect the final days of the game would be happening right now.
The scum and mason boards should be open.
There were a lot of parts of the roles that never got used, which I guess is unsurprising when a game only makes it to four Days!

Yay! Quite an interesting setup and certainly not one that had to go the way it did -- kind of a perfect storm, there. Sorry about your spreadsheets, all. This is kind of my ideal townie play-style that I hardly ever have time/energy/motivation for -- having lost ten or more games in a row leading up to this one you might say I was EXTREMELY eager not to let anything obvious slip by, this time. As such, being suspected for it (or "suspected", in three cases) really pissed me off! I think it worked out pretty well, though. Guiri, Guiri, Guiri, Guiri, my goodness. I think I've picked up a couple new "not-town" indicators from you to use going forward, but I will never be sure, will I? Good job. I love playing with you when we're both town, Ed. You do things almost nobody else ever even thinks of doing. I hope all the new players stick around.

I love playing with you when we're both town, Ed. You do things almost nobody else ever even thinks of doing. Thanks. I really had no reason to suspect you, though I'm always wary especially after Dark Knight. My favorite play was voting for you when the wagons on Septimus and Suburban fell apart and giving no real reason but hinting that I had one. Joanie and Captain took the bait and jumped on it like Scum in a precarious position might do. Guiri threw me for a loop too, who would have though of a Serial Killer who can kill multiple people in one Night and investigates as Town?

Guiri threw me for a loop too, who would have though of a Serial Killer who can kill multiple people in one Night and investigates as Town? Yeah, I made mention on the spoiler boards that Guiri's role might have been too easy to win with. But still, SK is a sucky role to have when it's a straight up killer with no other powers. (Though, survivor is probably even worse. At least the SK gets to do something. And since town can never let a survivor live once exposed--barring some mechanic that actually confirms the role--it's not as if the survivor has any better chance of winning.) I think it would have been more balanced if he was townie detecting or could win with another team. Both conditions made the role really powerful. Also, an SK is a boon to scum, because they will reduce the mislynch numbers in long term. (They are more apt to kill town than scum, and every death is a half of a mislynch. They typically hit town at a rate of 2 or 3 times what they'll hit scum. Which means in a typical game you can reasonably consider an SK as reducing the mislynch margin by 1.) So a stronger SK makes for a stronger scum team.

Didn't Guiri kill like 3 scum as an SK in the Evil Dead mafia game on the dope?

Post by Høøpy Frøød on Apr 24, 2011 11:17:54 GMT -5
Didn't Guiri kill like 3 scum as an SK in the Evil Dead mafia game on the dope? Yeah, but he wasn't intending to, IIRC. A SK can be deadly to scum in the occasional game, but much more often than not, they are going to aid scum. Especially because most SK have to win on their own. And they need scum to help them achieve this end. Because the SK wins when the deaths come quickly. Long drawn out games are bad for the SK. SKs are also a good mechanic for keeping scum participating. Because the SK doesn't want to leave a paper trail, so standard strategy is to target the quiet ones.
