I have a question if one of the old timers could answer soon that would be great! PS old in terms of games played only ..lol Anyway, do all the scum know all the other scum are at the beginning? or do they learn who each other are when they post? The reason I ask is re: Ginger If light and ginger are RL or game friends would she have nudged her sooner as she was missing the game and getting way behind? If they are both on the same team ie- scum since town has no clue as to teammates - then her nudge looks like they are both scum (and maybe inner as well) or it just odd timing on light part and Ginger who has played several game just (forgot) this one? or maybe they are some other group like masons who know who the other are? need some help here from peoples with lots of different games played Let me state for the record, if there is one. I completely forgot that I signed up for the game. Typically and there is only one time I have played scum. they all know each other at the start of the game. Now masons can be either or, they sometimes know who the others are and sometimes they have to find each other. I have played both ways as a mason. You can argue either way, I can understand the point where scum might contact the other if they are missing and a not knowing townie might do the same, what if I was the doctor or cop (being general for an example). Those roles are essential to town. So, Patricia are you going to answer my question to you on why you feel that the 3rd party pool is thin or are you going to redirect attention to me?

Pleo's either been or pretended to have been more forthright and honest about his motives than guiri, who by the way is just as good at being scum as he is at hunting them. Why are you throwing a somewhat known quantity away on a completely dark horse?

I understand that if he [Pleo] is not hostile that he is a warm body when heads are counted- but- is it worth it? This raised a red flag with me, because I don't know the answer, not having read the Mafia wincon. (At this stage I'm still assuming there is a Mafia.) It's by no means certain that third party nonhostiles count against the Mafia wincon. It depends how the wincon is written. Pleo (to name but one) seems convinced that 3P NH players don't count towards the wincon, but if his claim is accurate then it's in his interest to suggest to Mafia that killing him is a waste of a Nightkill. Vote: LightFoot It's enough to stand out in a Day that hasn't produced a firm suspicion.
I’m confused by your comment. I have no clue what Scum’s ( assuming we have them) win-con is however Town’s win-con states that all hostile non-town players must be eliminated. So.. if pleo is indeed non-hostile he’s a body on the non-hostile side of the fight and presumably not intentionally voting with a Scum block. To put it another way we don’t know who the bad guys are but it appears at least some of them do ( re off-board comment in the rules ) so a NH 3p on the Towns side would not be helping Scum sway votes to their advantage. But again- is it worth it- with the kefluffle caused by pleo and the risk of him Not being who he says he is. is that clearer?

Vote count is back a few pages. Like 14 I think. I'm not ready to jump on the Colby bandwagon right now. I felt it YesterDay, but not ToDay. And um now it's Tuesday and Pleo has been MIA for a couple of days. So those who said he doesn't post on Weekends, now it's not the Weekend....What say you now? So why not the Colby bandwagon today? What changed your mind?

Thanks plankton and guiri
I'm still not sure about pleo - lynching 3party seems a waste of a lynch - it is odd that he hasn't posting lately
I will hold off on a vote change for now

Unvote: Meeko Vote: guiri Why should we keep you around? This is a good question. Here's another: Why should we lynch him? Just because he made a 'foolish' bid on the Mercenary and is now asking us to save his life? Or do you actually think he's Scum?

Why should we keep you around? Well first of all because I'm one of the apparently very few town in this game and I have the mercenary available toNight and I am a pretty useful player. Secondly we wouldn't be having this conversation if there'd been just a couple more votes on the lynch leader, I was just unlucky that bidding 8 votes meant possible suicide.

Ginger to answer your ?
it is may understanding that for the game to work you need about 3or2 to 1 scum to town setup. so based on the math why would there be a lot of 3rd parties - and it seems in this game 3rd parties can become town so if there were lots of 3rd parties and lots became town would that "break" the game - or the same would be true if lots became scum - also 3rd parties have win-con that if made take them out of the game so wouldn't that also help town by people leaving without being lynched or nightkilled? I may be totally wrong but that how I was looking at it when I said the 3rd party pool may be thin after two players claimed. please keep in mind I only have played one side of the coin so that may cloud my view as well

I always leave an open mind. For being a "newbie" you have the numbers thing down.

I am totally willing to let the merc winner swing as a general rule and I don't see why we should automatically pile on someone else just because someone's greedy. I know fuckall about guiri this game except that apparently he has the merc tonight. I know lots of stuff about Pleo like an alignment claim that can be validated, a powers claim that can be validated and a hostile/nonhostile claim that can be validated. Guiri hasn't seen fit to give us anything remotely resembling that so I see no reason to extend him benefit of the doubt at this period.

There are still 27 players with 2 votes each so for 1/4+1 to vote the lynch leader seemed like a reasonable expectation.

No. No freaking way.Lynching guiri, at this time, in this way, would be profoundly stupid. An incredibly minimal number of votes on him, so no vote record to parse. Literally no evidence against him. You're voting to lynch him right now because you can, but you had no suspicion of him prior and no reason now to believe he's any more likely to be Scum or Hostile than any random name picked from a dartboard. You are basically trying to force a random lynch with a half hour left on Day Two... or, based on the post quoted above, trying to leverage a late role claim out of a player who was under virtually no suspicion until a few minutes ago. And that, all to keep alive a player who, as admitted non-Town, cannot be trusted to act in the best interests of Town even if his claim is completely true, which it may or may not be? This is the definition of opportunism. It looks like you're seizing on an easy lynch that you don't have to defend. It looks like you're trying to force a role claim at the 11th hour. And most of all, it looks like you're trying at all costs to keep Pleonast alive. You have swallowed Pleo's claim hook, line, and sinker from the moment he made it, and expected others to do the same. I haven't really objected, because fuck if I know how to handle Pleonast and who am I to object to the way others do? But now you've moved past that. Now you've moved to affirmatively acting in his defense - promoting a basically random, information-free lynch in order to protect him. I think you need him alive for some reason of your own, and that makes me want to lynch you... but failing that, it damn sure makes me want to try and make sure that you don't get what you need. vote Inner Sticklervote Pleonast---- OOG: I know I haven't been much around toDay. I had an unscheduled detour to the emergency room last week that ate into my Mafia time. I am more or less fine now and should be active from here on out.

Regarding the mercenary:
I do think that folks who choose to bid on the merc are going to have to stop playing the "ooh, bad luck for me that no one got the right number of votes" card now. If you do this and find yourself in trouble, telling everyone a bit earlier in the process might be advisable from here on out.

You can't validate that my designation is hostile? Unfortunately, my power cannot be validated so you've got me there. I get the greedy bit, I'd call it stupidity in hindsight, but the rest is crap.

I did try to suggest a way we could control the bidding for the mercenary and ensure it went to confirmed or presumed Town, hoping to prevent this in the future.

Reminder we've got like 10 hours or whatever to decide this thing and we need a big ole wagon. And since time is of the essence, I vote that we now give immediately emergency powers to the supreme Chancellor. I will randomly pick someone I think is townie to help us decide. KidV, or Meeko, whoever responds first. Who should we lynch today? You want a wagon led by a townie, I feel this is the best method of creating one in the half-day remaining. I defer, abstain, recuse. Or all three.
